Anyways, I was thinking of making a pure psionics game where only psionic based classes are allowed, and I know alot of people think (as well as myself) that the wilder and soulknife are underpowerd when in comparison to other psi-classes. So far I only know of five. Psi Warrior. Psion. Psi Rogue. Soulknife. Wilder. But this is enough to make a decent game with interesting twists. Now.. about those fixes.. Wilder. I thought long and hard about this, and I decided to best represent the passionate, feirce, wilder. It'd be best to give herrage like a barbarian. Seeing as there is no real melee classes, someone's gotta fill the gaps. Soulknife. The soulknife is just all over the place. I really had nowhere to go but up with this guy, and considering he'll be the only class that doesn't manifest powers. (Or atleast not many) He needs more help then anyone. So I gave him two buffs. a) His hit die is increased to d12. b) He gains favored enemy like a ranger. Again, without melee classes avaliable, someone's got to fill the shoes of tank. I don't see the soulknife as really a tank, but maybe a psychic ranger? Considering the awesome things the psion's going to be able to do at later levels, the h4ck5 of the psi rogue, and the overpowerd nature of the psi warrior. I think this makes them equal. But I want second opinions. I don't want to start a game on the wrongfoot of one of these classes being overpowerd. |

I think the best fix is to have the pp lost to enervation scale with the pp increase. Wilder is a Gish, not a full manifester. The 9th level powers is a benfit he wins for knowing such a small amount of powers. It has average BAB, armor and shield profficiency, d6 HD and acceptable defensive abilities. Using it as a full manifester makes it look weaker than it is (it's not very powerful anyways, unless you do some heavy multiclassing, preferably to Illithid Slayer). However, I agree. Enervation is too punishing. I reduce the chance by 1% per Wilder level (minimum 5%), and change the PP lost to 3 for level of the Wildsurge. |
