Special Mount Training - Balanced? [Archive] - Wizards Community

02-21-07, 09:19 PM I've been considering a feat that looks like this:

SPECIAL MOUNT TRAINING [General, Fighter]
Prerequisite: Special mount
Benefit: You can choose two bonus feats for your special mount. If your special mount is killed or dismissed, your new mount will have the same two bonus feats.

Would you consider this feat balanced? Too powerful? Too weak?

02-21-07, 11:23 PM special mount, as in palidins mount? if so, normally you are allowed to choose which feats your mount has. So this feat is sort of redundant.

Maybe im wrong about the way it works, and if so then this seems like an ok feat. definatly not overpowered.

To clarify: These would be two bonus feats for the special mount.

I guess I'm trying to figure out what part of "bonus feats" is leading you to think that these are "the normal feats the paladin's mount gets without taking this feat". Is the word "bonus" not clear enough?

i have no idea how i did it so off.

Id say it would be balanced on the high end of fair. two bonus feats for one feat is broken, but this can only be done by palidins for their mounts, i think makes it ok. cause thats not most people.

originally i read this as, " if your mount dies and you need to summon a new one it has the same feats."

02-26-07, 05:39 PM Actually this would also work pretty well if modified to include Animal Companions and similar things as well.

No problem. I was just trying to figure out how I'd written it so poorly. ;)

That's pretty much my thinking, too. Displacing the extra feat onto a different creature seems like it balances.
