Thanks, Troy Combining two variant rules like this from two different books will add trouble to your campaign. But if you insist. Spell points go off the variant: Thus a level 1 wizard with 4 spell points may cast 4 level one spells a day, or two level 0 spells and three level one spells and so on. Being a Mage of the Arcane order allows you to borrow spells pertaining to the same point system, however one cannot have spell prepared ahead of time to use them. thus it uses the old system of arcane preperation for wizards, as an empty spell slot is needed to call a spell from the spell pool. so using a point variant system you would need to declare what spell points you do not use per day to draw power form the pool. This is no way gives you extra spell per day, it merely lets you cast spells you did not have prepared before. To make it your house rule you can assign pool points and add them to bonus spells for your characters, in adition to thier normal spell alotments per day. Keep careful track of how many points they owe, the mage of the arcane order is expected to replenish what he takes from the sapell point with only a 5 allowed in negative balance I believe. So low level mages do not have access to spell pools. So even if you wizard player has acess to spells then it is entirely useless to them if they cnanot join the order. You can make a variant mission like a joining an organization listed in the other sections of the DMG prestige classes before they obtain access to the prestige class and it's benefits. I hope this explination helped you, while it was a good idea it is not very useful since you need free spell slots to use the spell pool, unless you make a house ruling to say they stack, in which case it is a much better prestige class than it was actually meant to be. It was meant for added versitiliy, not powering up wizards with more spells. Please keep that in mind if you decide in favor of ruling the spell points stack, in which case your wizard will be slightly more uber powerful if they decide to game smart.
