Ok, so I'm running a game using the SP system and I was thinking, that for casters who still have to prepare their spells a feat that allows them, once per day to choose a spell they didnt prepare and gain access to it for either an increased SP cost or maybe an action point use. Thoughts?

Sounds fine to me. I believe you could already spend an action point to cast a spell without losing it (my memory may be off, however) so your proposal doesn't seem beyond reason.

Here is the feat we came up with:

RECALL SPELL
PreReq: Able to prepare & cast arcane or divine spells. Must be using the Spell Point casting system and Action Points.
Benefit: As a move action and by spending 1 action point, the player may cast any spell they know, but do not have prepared. This still costs spell points to cast, but is a one time use, it is not added to the caster's prepared list.

I think it is underpowered in that I would never choose it...

But then I do not like feats that you continue to pay for with action points/other abilities beyond your feat slot, and I do not like feats that you can only use as long as you have action points.

I'd let every mage do that as long as they spend the action point. No feat required.
