| giova04-03-04, 07:46 AM | disintegration is a very common spell for wizard from 11 to 17 level...(it goes around spell turning and death ward) let's create a spelltouch feat for disintegration! |
| Masterful_Norg04-03-04, 12:32 PM | That's a toughy, which is probably why you chose it. Maybe the person who has chosen this feat does extra discintegration dammage, or can just disintigrate and reintigrate a number of times. |
| Baron Phylos04-03-04, 03:42 PM | hmm... When you're disintegrated, the dust your body leaves behind acts a glitterdust spell? |
| Bifford04-03-04, 03:49 PM | I like the Spelltouch feats because they bestow interesting quirks, not just boring bonus to your stats. Therefore, let's not suggest something like +4 save bonus or immunity against disintegrate spells. I'll try to think of something. |
| The Livewire04-03-04, 04:18 PM | how about you explode violently, doing damage in a radius? Feedback loop, the caster has to save or go poof? |
| Wil_Hyral04-03-04, 04:56 PM | Poof (Spell-touched) Prerequisites: The character must have survived victimization by disintegrate. As a standard action twice per day, the character can clench their eyes and hands, hold their arms close to their body and dissolve into dust. This is a supernatural ability, and it leaves the character dead. Raise the dead won't work to revive them, but Resurrection and True Resurrection will do the trick nicely. |
| Dartanel04-03-04, 08:04 PM | How about this? Aura of Annihilus [Spelltouched] When your body was destroyed, a little touch of that oblivion left it's mark on your soul. Prerequisite: Subjected to a disintigrate spell. Benefit: Any force spell or effect which comes in contact with a character posessing this feat much succeed in a caster level check (DC 10 + Characters HD + Characters Cha Mod) or be supressed. This supression remains active for as long as the character is in contact with the effect. In the case of instantaneous effects, they are dispelled entirely. |
| Wil_Hyral04-03-04, 08:32 PM | Lose the apostrophe on the third person genderless pronoun possessive, and then I like it. I think it should be noted that to qualify, one must have survived a disintegrate spell; not been brought back by resurrection or any other magical means after failing a save. Otherwise, I think that feat is overpowered, or sort of a given after level 13, making the window for disintegrate's usefulness very slim. |
| Dartanel04-05-04, 05:47 AM | The main issue with that is that the prerequisite for all spelltouched feats is that you have to suffer the full effect of the spell. In this case, utter disintigration. Surviving a disintigrate is not an option if you wish to have a spelltouched feat for it. |

Um... so they can perform a voluntary CdG on themselves? I don't see many people taking this feat. |

| Wil_Hyral04-07-04, 05:41 PM | Originally posted by Archtyrant Terevoth Um... so they can perform a voluntary CdG on themselves? I don't see many people taking this feat. :bored: It was a joke. The idea behind spelltouched feats is, you fell victim to the spell entirely. Falling victim to disintegrate almost exclusively means you won't be gaining any more feats. |
| Veton04-07-04, 08:37 PM | Originally posted by Nifft But it's great for NPCs! "Oh yeah? Watch this! *Poof*" No XP! -- N Except that the PCs already fought him/her, so they still get the XP. And as Archtyrant said, no one would take the feat, so it would be DM meta-gaming to have an NPC with that feat. |
| Vanigo04-08-04, 12:49 AM | Actually, the prerequisite is that you have to have failed a saving throw against that spell at least once. You don't have to survive failing that saving throw; if you're later brought back you qualify for the feat. Also, it is possible, albeit difficult, to survive failing a save against 3.5 disintegrate. |
| JoAT04-08-04, 02:36 AM | How about something like 'Lord of destruction' - whenever you destroy something (via Sunder, bringing a person down to -10 (or even 0 hit points), they go poof themselves... |
| Tenzhi04-08-04, 03:06 AM | Embodiment of Entropy The character is no longer capable of natural healing, nor is he subject to the benefits or detriments of age. He may never have a limb removed, nor will he ever show any physical wounds (though he may still take damage). The character is immune to all effects that alter his form (both beneficial or detrimental), though he may still be damaged or healed by them, if applicable. Effects such as disintegrate which leave a character unable to be raised due to the destruction of the body may still kill the character outright - but his body will remain so he can be raised. |
| Lankin the Mad Mage04-08-04, 10:01 AM | Its fully possible to survive the fulleffects of Disintegrate. You just need enough HP, y'know. Besides, people who are brought back from the dead still get new feats. I think this is a great idea. |
| Szatany04-09-04, 02:55 PM | Vanishing Strike [Spelltouched] You can unleash forces of disintegration to harm opponents. Prerequisite: Exposure to disintegration spell. Benefit: Once per day, when making melee attack, you deal extra +4d6 disintegration damage. You must decide to use this feat before attack roll is made. How this sounds ? |
| jedrious04-10-04, 01:41 AM | Discorporate(Spelltouched) Prerequisite: failed save against a disintegration or destruction spell. Benefit: whenever you are subject to a spell or effect that would make your body unsuitable for a raise dead spell, you are instead subjected to a gaseous form spell for 1 round |
| Millennium04-10-04, 10:39 AM | Aura of Destruction Your exposure to raw destructive energies has left residual traces around your person. Effect: When striking or sundering any object, treat its hardness as four points lower than it would otherwise be. This does not affect the damage reduction of any creature, only the hardness of objects. |
| Wil_Hyral04-10-04, 08:13 PM | I should note that I've seen entire PrCs based around the effect of a monster (though I'll cede right now that I forget said PrCs.) In any event, they were WotC-produced so maybe Disintegrate should be the doorway into a little 3 or 5-level PrC. As feats, most of these sound totally overpowered (or in the case of mine, ridiculously underpowered). |
| Masterful_Norg04-10-04, 09:20 PM | I like Jedrious's the best. :D |
| Wil_Hyral04-10-04, 10:48 PM | Still overpowered to me, but that's just me. I mean, other feats are like +3 hit points, +3 bonus on one skill, and that feat is like being entirely protected from at least 4 or 5 core spells. |
| jedrious04-11-04, 01:49 AM | ok, let's go with the PrC route The Disincorporated Prerequisites: Base Saves: Fort +3 Ref +3 Will +3 Special: Must have suffered the effects of a dissintegration or [death] spell or effect and failed the save, characters ressurected from dissintegration and [death] effects still qualify. HD d12 Class Skills Balance Concentration Craft Escape Artist Knowledge(Arcana) Listen Spellcraft Spot Tumble Skill Points per level 2 + int modifier Base Attack Bonus as War Hulk Base Save Bonus as monk Weapon and Armor Proficiency: a Disincorporated gains no new proficiency with weapons armor or shields Distort Disintegration: at 1st level the presence of a Disincorporated lessens the effects of disintegrate and [death] spells and effects, any target of such an effect within 20 feet per Disincorporated level (including the Disincorporated himself) receives a +3 bonus to their fortitude save per Disincorporated level. Mettle: at 3rd level the Disincorporated gains the ability meaning that any spell or effect that gives a fortitude or will save for half damage or partial effect, on a successful save the Disincorporated suffers no effect. Feel the Pain: at 5th level the Disincorporated has learned how to redirect disintegration and [death] effects, whenever a Disincorporated makes a successful save against a dissintegration or [death] effect the source suffers the effects as if they casted the spell on themselves and do not receive the benefits of the Distort Disintegration ability. Improved Mettle: at 7th level the Disincorporated has further learned to harden his mind and body against harm, this ability works like mettle except that even on a failed save the Disincorporated only suffers the half or partial effect. Reincorporation: once per day a Disincorporated of at least 9th level may call upon the effects of Reincorporation for any person within the range of his Distort Disintegration ability that perished from a disintegration or [death] effect within 1 round per Disincorporated level, creatures that are reincorporated fully regenerate their bodies and are raised as if they were subject o a true ressurection spell, calling upon Reincorporation is a standard action and leaves both the Disincorporated and the reincorporated creature exhausted. Grace of the Survivor: at 10th level the Disincorporated and all allies within his Distort Disintegration effect gain a bonus on all savings throws equal to the Disincorporated's Int Modifier. might need some work so tell me what you think |
| Tenzhi04-11-04, 01:55 AM | Originally posted by Wil_Hyral Still overpowered to me, but that's just me. I mean, other feats are like +3 hit points, +3 bonus on one skill, and that feat is like being entirely protected from at least 4 or 5 core spells. I wouldn't think they'd be entirely protected - I imagine they'd still die or take damage but their body would turn to gaseous form for a round rather than being destroyed in such a manner that they couldn't be raised. |
| bjorntfh04-11-04, 03:03 PM | Anyone notice that one of the spelltouched Feats requires the PC to have died to get it? Is it just me or does requring a PC to die to get the ability to drain hp off the dying seem like a bad thing? |
