| Ltheb Liadon09-08-06, 12:52 AM | I was, as a pet project, redoing all the base classes to rebalance/reflavor them, and this is one of the things I ended up doing for clerics. I whittled their spell list down to the bare bones, things all clerics should have, like bless, and minor divinations. Heck, I even moved the healing/harm spells off the list! It then came down to this - Your deity has (Slightly modified) domains. Pick 2. These add spells to your spell list. You can now spontaneously cast spells from this list. I did some other things to rebalance clerics, but this I think was the coolest. A Cleric of the Fire God (Whoever he is) can Flamestrike as much as he wants. A Cleric of the Death God Killatron will never-ever be able to cast a healing spell. (Well, in my system they could, since I let clerics switch their domains after a month of prayer, but if it wasn't one their god had, it was limited, and if the god opposed the sphere, limited even moreso, so in the above example the Death cleric probobly would only ever be able to access 1-3 level healing spells) I have not tested the cleric changes, but Since I nixed divine power/righteous Might off any list, (and in my system eliminated divine metamagic) I don't think the clerical Sphere idea is so bad. |

This structure just screams to me that it could be adapted into a sort of domain type deal for clerics. |
