I have decided that the cleric should get bonus feats at 5th 10th 15th and 20th level just as the wizard does. These feats can be selected from the list of divine feats in the Complete Divine book. But I have this feeling that it will make the cleric a bit overpowered. So I need some suggestions on how to limit this.

I have been thinking about giving him only medium armor proficiency.
Or Only one domain at level 1.

But I don't really want to destroy the idea of the cleric as a holy warrior for his church.

Oh and I play in Eberron.

So, you give him 4 bonus (divine) feats, and take away one (the heavy armour prof.), to the class that is widely regarded as overpowered anyway, and you ask if it's balanced?

Uhm, no?

I do not ask if it is balanced, I know it is already out of balance. And I know that just taking away one feat is not going to balance it any more. I was wondering what other suggestions there might be out there.

Here's one: Don't make the most overpowered class even stronger.

Delay domains until later (maybe one at 4th and one at 8th), remove all armor and shield proficiencies, and don't allow DMM: Persist. That might do it.

May I ?

How about omitting Divine Power and Righteous Might spells from the game ?
If you'll also ban BoED AND make the Cleric start with med-armor, I guess this will do.

It's a bad plan.

Do not give Clerics bonus feats.

Instead, if you want them to have class features, take Favoured Souls and rename them "Cleric." Then chuck the original class out. Tada! More game balance!

...and then quickly shove Wizards and Druids out the door.
