| Lady Fierna04-24-04, 09:41 PM | (Just tossing out an idea) I think that a gestalt monster character (such as a 20 trumpet archon/20 paladin) in a gestalt campaign would be more equally ballanced with a standard race character than one (just a 20 trumpet archon) in a standard campaign. Gestalt characters and monster characters, I think, would work well together like this. What do you think? |
| Munchmausen04-25-04, 12:44 AM | I think this depends largely on how you deal with gestalt-ing LA. Your Archon/Paladin will be much tougher when you give them the Paladin HD whenever the Archon progression wouldn't get one. (Let's see, D10 hps, good BAB, good Fort, skill points, or none, hmm.) On the other hand, you could gestalt only the archon levels with HD. This way, when you hit Lv 20, you only have paladin levels equal to your archon HD. This means LA remains a real penalty. Or, another method I like is gestalting LA against itself. You lose half as many levels of HDs, but still retain some amount of penalty. So, in brief, it depends. |
