The idea is, you can save up skill points you get at each level, then Buy an extra feat for 10. Any Skill points you save up in this way, you can't later dump into a skill. (No setting aside 3 points this level, only to say you want to spend them Next level.)

So does that seem like a good idea? over powered? underpowered? useless?

Your thoughts please, and thank you for your time.

This sounds like a free feat per level for Rogues and intelligent, human Bards.

Hardly free. It still costs them 10 skill points. You could have a rogue who got a feat every level, but no skill points. Not grand.

No, I see even dumber non-skill characters. The fighter, rather than dumping his mediocre points into Swim and things, saves them for feats. The human barbarian laughs and takes a feat every 2 levels.

Seems like it encourages the worst of min/maxing to me... Your character SHOULD have some skills, even if they never really use them, but this system would create a situation in which some highly intelligent characters had no skills at all, just feats out the wazoo (and some in their snood also!)

Not a fan of the idea. Can potentially take away an important dimension of the Player Character.

This has come up a number of times before. It's ALWAYS regarded as a bad idea.

In my opinion Wizards would be the ones to make this system the worst. Beyond Spellcraft and Concentration, there's really no optimization reason why you would want knowledge skills over feats. 10 Skill Points you say? Sweet, that Wizard gets a new feat every other level.

A bad, bad idea.

A flat 10 skill points per feat would be bad. Limits are needed.

In my campaign I have a new skill & a new feat.

New SKill
Training(no stat mod) for each 5 ranks you gain a feat. Thats it, no other uses.

New Feat
SKilled
Gain 5 skill points, normal maxs apply.

So over 20 levels you can have an extra four feats from this skill, not to overpowering, esp when bad guys can take it to.

So far Training has been used by most of my players, but not all, & the Rogue has taken Skilled (contrary to what most would expect).

Seems OK to me.

There is a feat that gives 5 skill points. I think it is in Complete Adventurer. But I like the limit you have set on it.
