Thri Kreen Paragon Ideas [Archive] - Wizards Community

08-15-04, 11:51 PM I was thinking about introducing a team of semi-psionics to rival my party in my campaign. So I am trying to put together a racial paragon class for thri kreen

Thri-Kreen Paragon
Alignment: Any
Hit Die: d8
Class Skills: Climb, Craft, Jump, Listen, Profession, Spot, Survival, and Swim

BAB: Full
Saves: Good Reflex and Will

Level
1 Improved Natural Psionics
2 Improved Leap (+45 Jump), Improved Poison
3 Psionic Power

Improved Natural Psionics: Levels of Thri-Kreen paragon stack with any levels of psionics in determining the manifester level of powers. However this does not give him more power points of powers known.

Improved Leap: The Thro-Kreens racial bonus to jump increases from +30 to +45

Improved Poison: The Poison from the Thri-Kreens Bite Attack now does initial damage 1d6 Dex, secondary damage paralysis DC: 15 + Con modifier.

Psionic Power: The Thri-Kreen Paragon learns one psionic power of the second highest power level he can cast. If he doesn't have any psionic class or can only manifest level 1 powers he may learn one level one power from the psions power list. This does not give him any additional power points, so if he has no psionic class he can only use this power with his one racial power point.

Any comments, criticisms, or ideas for balance or gameplay are welcome.

08-16-04, 08:46 PM I might not necessarily add the extra damage for their poison, but I'd say an increased DC is definitely good.
For the Psion Power, I would make sure there's a Power Level cap. Maybe, like, 3rd or lower(just for the sake of Paragon Levels)? And for Improved Natural Psionics, I'd give it a +1 to manifesting class, as per the Human Paragon and spell-casting(and only 1st level and 3rd level).
Other than that, looks pretty good to me. I like the increaed jumping, as I wouldn't expect most people to add something like that. Nicely done. There should be a Racial Paragon compendium.
