With a new book, what classes do YOU think gestalt with them best?

Personally, I would like to try a Warblade/Sword Sage. Looks pretty nice.

One thing to consider, all the abilities of the classes will work for ANY manuevers known, as none of the classes say anything about "only the manuevers you know from this class". Interesting thoughts...

What do you all think? These classes have some nice potential, I think. Haven't seen any in play yet, though.

Have yet to read this book through but

For divine flavor Crusader/Cleric
The Crusader/Fighter....(especially with the big boost to fighters in the PH 2)
And of course the Crusader/Paladin or Crusader/Samurai.....disciplined pain

Swordsage/Soulknife......aka jedi knight
Swordsage/Ranger.......the hunter killer
Swordsage/Monk........The over the top kung fu movie fighter
Swordsage/Psy Warrior....mind and body

Warblade/Psion.........another mind and body and Int powers it all
Warblade/Swashbuckler....Int to damage, confirm, flat footed, etc

All that without trying to get MAD
Mixing the disciplines would be nice to a Crusade/warblade.
I'd probably let the maneuvers readied slide but you could still only get one stance a time at least until Warblade 20

Cleric/crusader's not bad.

The warblade's Hit Die and BAB boost the hell out of just about any spellcasting class.

Monk/swordsage would be really cool, but the loss of full BAB pains me. Perhaps multiclassing between fighter/monk and fighter/swordsage.

Swordsage/druid is fun and ridiculous, if you can convince your DM to rule that natural weapons count as unarmed strikes for the purpose of qualifying for favored-in-school weapons.

Seriously though, combining a ToB class with a caster class that has buff spells is fantastic.

I'm playin' a half-red dragon swordsage/soulknife, and that's been pretty fun.

Half Dragon??!?!?! Death by LA, NOOOOOO!!!!!! LOL, seriously, that is the key to any game, isn't it? Your having fun, so that game is a success.

I was thinking of maybe a Swordsage/Duskblade. I don't know, though... the class seems like it might to awkward.

IS there a class that gives good buff spells, and allows for armor and the like? Oh, yeah, the Cleric. LOL

Hmmm, Warblade/Psychic Warrior... That could be very nice.

Actually...a Warblade fighter, before you all throw tomatoes at me consider the fact that now the feats are actually able to synergize with something. Warblade/Crusader sounds a bit strange but I think it would be quite effective.

And...Well this is a mixture of noncore, but what about a Binder/Warblade

A Hexblade/Swordsage

An Incarnate/Crusader

Oddly enough, in that campaign, both players are half-dragon, and the GM told us to make "half-dragon gestalts, ignore the LA," and we have promptly been on the recieving end of every dragonslayer looking to make a name for himself while trying to figure out the mystery of our origin in a world with no dragons at all.

A world without dragons has dragonslayers? :-/

Well, what we've found out, is that it used to have dragons, but it's been a few millenia or so, and one of the kingdoms has itself a little secret police force whose job is to look out for dragons that get reborn and go about gathering power; apparently the wordl is a totemistic one, in which dragons are essentially gods in flesh. This fella got himself an army together and slew the gods, claiming the land for "humankind" and knew that you could never slay what existed as part of nature, that one day they would be reborn, and so keeps an eye out for this sort of thing.

I know it sounds silly, but it's actually kind of cool.

As far as attacks go: Burning Blade + Psionic Weapon + Psychic Strike + Rapid Assault + Mountain Hammer = 1d6+3 fire, 2d6, 1d6, 1d8, 2d6, so at level 3: 6d6+1d8+8 slashing plus 1d6+3 fire, ignores hardness and DR. At least, on the first round. After that, damage drops pretty dramatically, though every other round, I can churn out a decent hit.

With the Warblade/ Psy Warrior you start down the path of MAD as you now need good Int (warblade) and Wis (psy warrior).
With Warblade/Psion Int powers both classes and the psion will dish more punishment. go egoist for the buffs.
If you really want Psy Warrior go Swordsage. Wis to AC and it powers the Psy side. The tons of manuevers don't hurt either.

If duskblade slides as gestaltable then it's not a bad idea (I don't allow it, as it's a mix class already). I'd go Duskblade/warblade again Int to power it all.

Why not just Warblade/Wizard? It's simple, but I'm pretty sure it works. I mean you get Int on both (little MAD), d12 HD, good Fort and Will, access to some of the best offensive arcane spells, and something that refreshes every encounter. Who doesn't like having full BAB and access to haste every day anyway?

EDIT: Also, Crusader/Binder. Full BAB, combat buffs from vestiges, healing from manouvers, CHA synergy... I'd love to play as one of these in a dungeon crawl campaign as you just NEVER run out of steam. Even your HP will keep being replenished!

warblade/wizard warblade/beguiler or warblade/rogue. the int synergy rocks the casbah. warblade/warmage sounds plain fun though and by 7th level the armor will be nice. (near or far, where ever you are, I know I can hurt you)

swordsage/cleric makes for a fun nonplate build, and the swordsage/psywar is also crunchy.

crusader/ favored soul (weaponfocus? wings? maneuvers???) or crusader/warlock (invocations and any item necessary. and e-glaive for life sapping goodness)

Maneuvers plus Eldritch Glaive = very bad

Eldritch Glaive (and for that matter, Hideous Blow) takes a full-round action to attack with. If Eldritch Glaive is your weapon, and you have maneuvers, you are only eligible for Swift ones. Or you can just choose to *either* use your eldritch attack or a non-invocation based one, at which point you've abandoned synergy and better be a really good roleplayer. :P

Dark Thought, what is a "nonplate" build? I am assuming that it is one that doesn't want full plate?

Archivist/Warblade maybe?

Personally I don't think I'd be able to resist making some sort of grotesque Hulking Hurler/Blood Storm Blade/War Hulk if my DM ran a gestalt game. Ooh, it hurts just thinking about it.

One particularly nifty combination posted on the "Gestalt Combos" thread on the Character Optimization boards was warblade or crusader/feat-based rogue. Basically, any time you would get another sneak attack die, you get a fighter bonus feat instead (Unearthed Arcana). When you combine feats with maneuvers and stances alongside huge numbers of skill points, you have the potential for both flexibility and devastation.

crusader/monk :)

all good saves, full BaB, d10 hd, improved movement speed, stances and maneuvers galore (especially with extra granted maneuver)...

Swordsage/Paladin, perhaps?
d10 HD, full BAB, a decent amount of skills, all good saves, and some really nice abilities. Perhaps prestige classing out on the Paladin side? MAD may be an issue, though.

Warblade/Rogue

When you use the bonus feat variant to the rogue, you get massive skill points (8 plus a large int), lots of feats (every other level), and still the d12 hp, the full Bab, and maneuvers. Master of nine is achievable in no time.
Grizzled Gryphon

12-18-06, 11:37 PM
Anyone else notice how seldom the Paladin is used in any gestalt combos? Of course, with it suffering from mad right away...

Too bad, too. Looking at it from a power point of veiw, rather than a role playing one, the Pally has a lot of nice things to offer another class. If only it wasn't for the pesky alignment thingy...

Monk/Warblade.
MAD aside, this is THE martial arts adept. d12 HD, full BAB combined with flurry of Blows, a decent amount of skills, and lots of maneuvers combined with the list of monk powers.
Perhaps going into Shadow Sun Ninja on the Monk side?

Settting Sun and Shadow Hand are swordsage only disciplines.

I personally like the Swordsage/Warblade combo. Awesome maneuver choices from all but one discipline. Imagine the stealthy assassin that can kill from the shadows with one blow from the Shadow Hand Discipline, or beat you down in one shot from the Iron Heart Discipline.
Swordsage/Rogue and Swordsage/Warlock also appeal to me, but mostly because they are my favorite classes. But all the Shadow Hand maneuvers add extremely useful tactics to a Rogue, and even a Warlock, when you add invis at will with an eldritch blast in the Assassin's Stance, giving you extra Sneak Attack dmg.
Question though. I have seen a lot of people talking about an "Eldritch Glaive". What is it and where can it be found?

Ardent//Swordsage has wis synergy, has access to 9th lv powers, 9th lev maneuvers, and has the mind and body RP goodness. With practiced manifester and the 1/2 non-initiator lv + SS lv, you can even add in other classes without losing 9th lv powers or maneuvers. Try
Ardent4/FeatRogue+3/Slayer+10/FeatRogue+3//
FeatRogue+4/SS+1/Mot9+2/SS+10/Mot9+3.
BAB +17
9th lv powers at ecl 17
9th lv maneuvers at ecl 19
Full Slayer progression
Full Master of the Nine progression
Massive Skill points and 6 extra fighter feats
All armor proficiencies and most weapon proficiencies.
Crunchy and chewy!

You can expend psionic focus to take 15 on a concentration check. Diamond Mind + Psionics = Win

Of course, you don't have to take a psionic class to be a psionic character.

But then you don't get 9th lv powers though!

Crusadre//Divine Mind I love this combo, gives a +25 AB at level 20, thanks to aruas. This is a character that every party would love to have, it can tank, and it supports the party through constant buffs, and is a secondary healer.

The Eldritch Glaive is an invocation used by the warlock from the Complete Arcane.
