I love the alternate weapon proficiencies rule in UA, and I've been wondering about also including armour and sheilds in this rule.

IE: If you give up a level of armour proficiency, you can get a weapon group in return. Also allows you to drop shield proficiency in such a manner.

It would also work in reverse though, so you could drop weapon proficiency for better armour proficiencies?

Sound okay?
One problem I can maybe see is that all armour and shiled proficiencies effectively stack while weapon proficiencies do not.

As an aside, in my games I allow characters who want more agile fighters to trade medium and heavy armour proficiency (if their class has it) for Weapon Finesse or Dodge. Representing styles which focus more on agility.
I'd also consider allowing this trade-off for other feats which suited character concepts, like an archer who wanted point blank shot in exchange for the armour proficiencies.
