Has anyone ever come up with some house rules for training? I was toying with the idea, but I am not sure how to go about doing it.
The reasoin is: one of my players is playing a wizard. This is a new world that I have/ still am creating. He takes alot of time out of adventuring to research new spells. The rules for that are followed with money time ect.
The other party members are becoming frustrated with this because he is gaining power and they are staying about that same. Though he is quickly falling in to debt.
Anyway if someone could point me in a direction on how to do this. I was think awarding training xp at the end of each year/ I just don't know how much to give them.

If the wizards is quickly falling into debt, that's the balance factor. No additional stuff needed. He won't have the cool, nifty gadgets he wants and needs while the others do.
