| Shadowfane07-23-06, 03:42 AM | I did not see that there was a Unearthed Arcana section here, sorry for the dual post. I am going to have a moderator delete the other two. anyway here is what I would like help on. Ok on advice from others I looked up the rules for Reducing Level Adjustments, pg 18 in Unearthed Arcana I liked what I read but would like confirmation on something to see if I understand it. A gnoll ECL +1, can reduce his LA after attaining his 3rd class level. His ECl at this point is 6 This costs him 5,000 ((ECL 6-1) * 1,000) A Drow ECl +2, can reduce his La twice, once at 3rd and once at 9th. This costs him 7,000 at 6th level, and 9,000 at 9th level. Now here goes a new one that I did myself Blackscale Lizardfolk Racial HD = 4 Level Adjustment = 3 With 1 class level his ECL is 8 He can buy off his level adjustments at 9, 15, 18 class levels With 9 class levels he is ECL 16. (16-1) *1,000 = 15,000 as the cost to drop his LA to +2 With 15 levels his ECL is 21 (4 HD + 2 LA + 15 Class Levels). (21-1) * 1,000 = 20,000 as the cost to drop his LA to +1 With 18 levels his ECL is 23 (4 HD + 1 La + 18 Class Levels). (23 -1) * 1,000 = 22,000 as the cost to drop his LA to 0 After this his final ECL is 22. Is this correct? Also I was wondering if I start them out at 1st level humanoids, and they have to take their racial HD in humanoid racial levels, what would the effect be if I let them buy their LA's off at the corresponding levels. Example Gnoll HD 2d8, +1 LA normally buys off LA at 6th level (3 class levels + 3 (racial + LA) In my campaign the gnoll would start out with 1 humanoid level (HD, Skill points, etc) Thanks for any help He would then have to gain another level in humanoid before gaining the ability to get a class level. He would look like this Level 1 = humanoid level level 2 = humanoid level level 3 = class level (fighter etc...) When he reaches the 3rd character level (he can buy off his LA) Would this be ok? |
