Creatures with regeneration can't really die unless you kill them with the substance they are weak to, so nothing should be different for them.

By the way, what page is this varient on? I haven't seen it.

06-10-04, 06:30 PM Well in stand rules a regenrating creature can be Knock unconcius for a round so you can the next round Coup-de-gra them. (ie you knowck them to say -6 if the have Regeneration 5, the means the don't get back up instantly for next round they only regnerate to -1)

so it seams like the varient (which I like do to some of my player are playing LA races) regardles of how hard they are hit, if they make ther save the back up on their turn becuse damahe never goes below 0

06-11-04, 01:18 AM Actually, it doesn't work that way. Regeneration turns any damage that the creature isn't vulnerable to into nonlethal damage, which doesn't affect its current HP total. Let's say a Troll with 54 hp takes 25 points of nonlethal damage (say, from a couple of sword strikes). It still has 54 hp, but it also carries 25 nonlethal damage. Should it take another 30 points of nonlethal damage, it would still be at 54 hp, although unconscious (nonlethal damage > current hp). At this point, you could try and perform the coup-de-grace with a weapon that deals lethal damage to the Troll (as with a flaming longsword), but not with anything else, as it would just deal more nonlethal damage (and keep it unconscious for an even longer amount of time).

Keep in mind that regeneration only works on any nonlethal damage the creature took. It has to heal lethal damage normally.

06-11-04, 01:32 AM ok i missed the bit that the coup de grace attack had to be with a damage that isn't converted to non-leathel, But that still dosed address wither the varent allows the regneration to remain down long enough to preform the coup de grace
