Viability of new Fighter Feats [Archive] - Wizards Community

I'm designing a 1st-10th level campaign that makes use of a number of house rules for character advancement. One consequence of this is that almost all characters will receive dramatically higher numbers of feats. It wouldn't be all that surprising if every PC had ~100 feats by the end of the campaign.

One consequence of this is that fighters become a much less interesting class. I decided to create a few special feats that can only be taken as fighter bonus feats to offset this:

Battle Combo [Fighter]
Your attacks flow together, enhancing your ability to strike a foe repeatedly.
Prerequisites: Fighter level 6th.
Special: This feat can only be taken as a fighter bonus feat.
Benefit: Your iterative attacks are given a stacking penalty of 2 instead of 5. You do not gain additional attacks from this feat.

Improved Battle Combo [Fighter]
Your attacks flow together perfectly, enhancing your ability to strike a foe repeatedly.
Prerequisites: Fighter level 8th, Battle Combo Feat
Special: This feat can only be taken as a fighter bonus feat.
Benefit: You make all your iterative attacks at your highest BAB. This feat supersedes Battle Combo.

Maneuver Recovery[Fighter]
You have mastered martial techniques to the extent that you can use them with much greater frequency than normal.
Prerequisites: Fighter level 4th
Special: This feat can only be taken as a fighter bonus feat.
Benefit: You gain the ability to recover spent maneuvers as a swordsage.

These feats seem sufficient to keep the fighter an appealing option for the 10 levels that the campaign is likely to run. However, I'd like to get some outside opinions before I implement this. Do the feats seem too powerful or vaguely worded?

it wouldnt be suprising if every pc had 100 by the end?

I would think you are going to need to create a LOT more feats for people to take if they dont all want to have the exact same feats by the end of it.

Most of the feats will be maneuvers. I'm letting any character take maneuvers as feats with an initiator level equal to BAB. Thus, a level 2 wizard could have a level 1 martial stance if they find appropriate feat training. Another bunch will be proficiency feats. A PC can gain proficiency in a weapon after practicing with it for at most a week. Triple this, and they get weapon focus as well.

Also, many other feats will be RP rewards. For example, if the PCs manage to make an arduous journey through the mountains, they might get Athletic. If they achieve a stealth mission without getting detected, they'd get Stealthy. Building a stronghold could yield Skill Focus (Knowledge: architecture and engineering). EDIT: Another example: I'm toying with the idea of a side-quest that will give all the PCs the Wild Talent feat and 2 psionic feats of their choice, but no XP. This is still tentative though.

In that case, these feats would be very cool for fighters. It would make me definatly consider taking fighter until at least level 8. Normally i consider up till 2, maybe 4 tops.

This is way too much work to balance properly.

This is way too much work to balance properly.

Certainly a valid point. I am quite certain that things will be decidedly unbalanced in some areas. I have casually discarded most of the standard limitations on skills and feats, and have limited the potential of many classes that come into their own at high levels (through the level cap). My primary concern is that everyone have fun, and it is my hope that a decreased emphasis on balance may help achieve this.

My main concern is that the fighter become a distinct and enjoyable option for players. Since I'm not using martial classes, I create fighters as the primary martial adepts and give them enhanced value for their full attack. Ideally, this will keep them vaguely comparable with other classes.
