| Jack Daniel02-20-04, 09:32 PM | I can only offer my fix. Nonlethal Attacks Any attack that deals subdual damage in the core rules, such as a sap, an untrained unarmed strike, or a normal weapon taking a -4 penalty to hit "with the flat of the blade" is a nonlethal attack. Nonlethal attacks cannot deal wound point damage under any circumstances. A critical hit with a nonlethal attack deals VP damage as normal and causes the target struck to make a Fortidue save vs. DC 5 + the damage or be stunned for 1d4 rounds, just as if he had taken wound damage. If a nonlethal attack deals more damage than the character has VP, then the character falls into negative vitality points. The character must make an immediate Fortitude save vs. DC 5 + the amount of VP below 0, or be stunned for 1d4 rounds. Also, anyone with negative vitality is both fatigued and staggered until his vitality returns to 0 or higher. That's my patch. Hope it helps. |

The rate of recovery for vitality points is the same as the rate of recovery for standard non-lethal damage (i.e 1/level/hour) In my judgment I would have non-lethal damage cause vitality point damage (just like lethal weapons do) however when it causes wound damage have it operate in the same way as non-lethal damage acts in relation to normal hitpoints in the PHB (i.e. knocking people unconscious when you’re non-lethal damage exceeds the current number of woundpoints the character possesses). |
| tec-goblin02-21-04, 05:27 AM | Well, vitality/wound has many problems. It's great, will see great use, but I can't see how it could be used without tweaking. For example, every epic character who loses his Wound points in this system, simply won't die (the Fort 15 is ridiculous). I cannot see why massive damage is erased. Anyway, IMC it will be used with normal negative hit points (as usual), massive damage allowed, tweaking to regeneration and to subdual damage. |
