I Thought I would post this in the Weapon/feat thread, but it occured to me that it should blend with the generic class better.

Throu focus and dedication, some people are able to reach a state of mind that vastly improved there skill.
They call it "make one with the way", "reaching the void" or dozen other name.

Game information:

Void use require the expenditure of void point.
Various feats allow the use of void point for different purpose.
A Void usage is a free action, the usual effect can be instant or lasting.
Character may spend at most a total of void point/round equal of 1+(Character level/5).
Lasting effect usually last for 5rd+Con.Mod.
It takes one day to recover all your void points.

Some classes normal dedication allow them an easier access to the void:
- In their pursue of perfecting their art, fighters are naturally driven toward the void. Starting at 3rd level and every 2 levels after that, they gain 1 Void points (Vp). Void feats are fighter feats.
- Monk life often revolve around the void. Monks can spend 2 of there daily stun effect instead of a void point. They also can take Void feats instead of there extra feats.
- Wizard have the focus, but their dedication to controlling things prevent them to reaching the void.
- Paladins, clerics and druids follow the path of higher purpose and do not comprehend the way, although they occasionally find wisdom in it.
- Other classes simply lack the dedication.
A special case to the barbarian: void and rage are incompatible. Some barbarians may however try to follow the way to temper a little their wild nature. Usage of Void point end immediately a barbarian rage, it although gives bonuses to check for ending frenzy.

Generic classes:
Void point are well suited to emulate classe features that are usable a certain number of time/day.
All three generic classes gets 1 Void point/2 Level.
Possible uses are
Smite [Instant,2 pt]
Turn, rebuke [Instant,2 pt]
Wild shape [Special,2 pt (normal)/3 pt (tiny, plant)/4 pt(Huge, Elemental)]
Wild shape (Mastery).
Access to a domain spell. [Chose the domain when chosing the feat; the casting of a spell from
the domain require both a spell slot and the expenditure of a void point].
Bardic music
Rage (This is compatible in this setting).
As a rule, feats that grant you access to class feature do not grant you extra void point as well.
X(Mastery) feats allow you to reduce the activation cost by 1 (min 1). You must still be able to activate the feature before the reduction is applied. X(Mastery) can be taken many time.

Interesting flavor to this. I think it should be a feat with a Lawful requirement. The thing is that mechanicaly it feels a little too similar to Action Points.

Check out the Rokugan Campaign setting. Void points are used in that system pretty nicely. They even have spells that rely on void point expenditure (favorite has to be the Element's Fury, which is in Magic of Rokugan)
