| ViperJock_StimJunkie12-13-06, 01:57 PM | Hey all, I am taking part in a game that has a house rule that allows all casters to forgo memorization, they do not have to prepare spells. Basically all casters can cast (up to their normally alloted slots per day) ANY spell from their spell list. Just as a Sorcerer/Bard is able to. Obviously Divine casters have it made, Wizards etc still have a spell book. Bards and Sorcys etc. have a bonus to "known" spells based on their Cha (1 extra known spell per bonus of your BASE Cha or spell casting attribute. ) ie: Sorcy with a 17 Cha and a cloak +6cha and a rod +4cha is still treated as 17. Giving you 3 extra known spells per lvl. But, there is a small chance a Bard / Sorcy would be able to use their modified Cha for bonus known spells although I am unsure of this fact at this time. My question is this ... What would be a FAIR Modification to the WARLOCK class under these pretenses? the strength of the warlock is in his/her nigh-infinite power reserve. Since the other Caster types get a bonus So should too the Warlock. In keeping with the precidents, the warlock should know more invocations. But how many and based on what variable or set factor? in summation All casters that normally have to prepare spells can cast any known spell up to their daily limit. All casters that normally dont prepare spells are allowed to know more spells than usuall. All warlocks should ....? thanks all in advance for your input. |

It's way too powerful. Sure, NPCs would get the same benefit -- if they're spellcasters. Otherwise the CR system is a bit screwed up. |
