| JohnCJ07-10-04, 09:32 AM | A design principle behind Weapon Group feats seems to be that allowing Weapon Focus/Specialization to affect a group of weapons rather than a single weapon is not unbalanced. I agree with that reasoning, and would like to take it to it's logical conclusion: How game breaking would it be to remove ALL weapon specificity from feats such as Weapon Focus, Weapon Specialization, Improved Critical, etc. Weapon Focus would thus grant you +1 on all attack rolls (regardless of weapon used). Specialization would be a +2 on all damage rolls, etc. Broken? OR: Use weapon categories instead: Weapon Focus [Simple], Weapon Focus [Martial], Weapon Focus [Exotic]? OR: Two categories: [Melee] and [Ranged]? |

| Kastas07-10-04, 07:55 PM | I'd say that your system would be a bit overpowered, since they'd become "must-have" feats for any character that does any fighting at all. They'd even be highly attractive to spellcasters, since they could be used for all ray and touch spells. I really like the weapon group system, personally, and I'm comfortable with how it works right now. |
