Dream Candy 09-17-04, 11:41 AM	Is the barbarian rage variant whirling frenzy broken? I just don't see how the normal rage can come close to being as good as whirling frenzy. Does anyone have any thoughts on why they decided to create such an overpowered variant? I don't even know what I can say to my dm to justify using it. I guess I could tell him that my character wants to defeat an avatar at some point and whirling frenzy would allow me to do it.

If you go through the numbers you will find that Whirling Frenzy isn't any stronger than rage, since it lasts 2 rounds shorter. Rage increases the chance of a single attack to hit, while whirling frenzy gives you an extra at the normal chance. Whirling Frenzy makes you harder to hit while Rage makes you capable to withstand more hits. I don't even know what I can say to my dm to justify using it. Then don't since you obviously like it. So no, I don't think Whirling Frenzy is stronger, just different.
