| Syltorian04-14-06, 06:56 AM | I really like the the wild-shaping ranger from Unearthed Arcana (also in the SRD (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/classes/variantCharacterClasses.htm)). Basically, it loses the combat style tree and gains wild shape and fast movement. Yet it only gains wildshape into small or medium animals. I was wondering whether a feat that would allow different sizes (large and tiny, specifically), would be unbalanced and if so, what the requirements for such a feat could be. Being able to wildshape in the first place seems obvious enough, but would you require something different, too? I'm aware of the Master of Many Forms, but I don't really want to wild-shape into a humanoid, monstrous humanoid, aberration, ooze etc. Only fey sounds interesting, but the rest is not something I think would fit the concept I have for my character. (A feat to wildshape into fey would be nice, but I'm that much despairing for it as I am for the ability to wildshape into tiny and large animals). I don't think there will ever be any official support for the UA variant classes (though I can always hope that there might be something similar in the Player's Handbook II), so I wanted to sound out the more unofficial channels. Thanks in advance to anyone who can contribute an opinion. |

Base will save +6 Benefit: wildshape into large animals I'd say will+6 because that is what the druid has when it gets that ability. The ranger will not have that base until level 18 unless he multiclasses for the better. Becoming a large creature as a warrior can be dangerously broken like this, so it needs to be hard to get into. |

And Tiny is the one I'd actually prefer if I had to make a choice between the two new sizes, although druids too get it only after Large. Is it somehow more powerful in a way that I am not aware of? |

I recall seeing some size wildshape feats somewhere, but those might be older books (or epic feats). You might consider uping your power in those forms rather than growing in sizes. Little strokes (or gnawing teeth of weasels) fell great oaks (or unfortunate monsters). |
