I'm not sure if the title is a fitting name but I had a thought which became an idea... and now I must share...

But first a question.... Is there any item or spell in D&D that allows a user/caster to create anything they want?

My idea comes from the Green Lantern... I was thinking about his ring and understanding that it is an ungodly powerful tool... I was wondering if there was a rule set that would allow such an item to be created. I know that you can have magical rings and such but is there a rule mechanic that would allow the user/wearer to create something at will....

Using the Spell Point System, you could assign a point cost for each item created..... Actually, maybe the Psionic Power points might work better.

Any ideas???

I understand the "artifact" issue...

My question was not how a character could make it.... but how could a GM make it or more specifically.... What rules to govern it by

Specifically, you could get away with using the Forgotten Realms spells force construct and animate object. You'd have to add in fly, water breathing, and the Spelljammer spells for pressure support in Realmspace. You need telekinesis for those punches he does. That would probably do it. Oh, yes: it also needs bend space once per day.

The only flaws are that the thing must be recharged once per day, and based on the ring can't affect wood, the color yellow, or has no limitations at all. All of that bundled together with a "unlimited charges" pushes the ring over 500,000gp. That means it's best left for an artifact.

After that, it's just a question of looking up those spells and doing what they say to do.

my point is not not having players make it, jsut deus ex the whole item. it can run out power whenever the plot needs it, do not let silly things as rules confine your tool.
