| TheDarkLord01-14-07, 11:54 PM | Disclaimer: I have already gotten rid of sorcerers in my campaign world and replaced them with warlocks (now called our New Sorcerer). I have also substituded psionics in as well. This is not intended to be balanced with Fighters or any melee class whatsoever (kinda like the originals). This is a work in progress to help alleviate some of the strenuous book keeping and bad spell selections for the casters who have to prepare. 1. Give the Wizard the Clerics spell progression minus the domain 2. Give the Cleric the Wizards spell progression plus the Domain. 3. Give the Druid the Wizards spell progression period. I'm basing this on the Erudite from the Cpsi for the most part. 1.You can use these spell slots for any spell level as long as you know the spell (Kinda like the sorcerer). 2.You cannot prepare a higher level spell in a lower level spell slot but you can prepare a lower level spell in a higher level spell slot. 3. You still have to refresh your spellslots on a daily basis as per usual. 4. If you have a metamagic feat you want to use, you have to apply it at the beginning of each day. Once you choose which level you wish to apply the metamagic feat, you cannot change it during the course of the day. Under this system each metamagic feat gives you the ability to use it 3x per day. A new feat called Extra Metamagic allows you to apply a single metamagic feat an additional time per day and it can be chosen multiple times choosing a new metamagic feat or the same one. 5. Edit: We have used the variant spell DC from back in 3.0 psionics, 1d20+spell level+ability modifer. We like the variance in it as a group and it gives the wizards opportunities to roll that d20 (something we hardly ever do as a wizard). I am thinking about changing the DC to 1d20+1/2 CL+ ability modifier (or you could use 10+ I don't care). I think that would add some spice to the mix as well as making it somewhat unique. Under this system, learning new spells should be hard to come by. A DM should be strict about learning new spells for the wizard classes. He should also institute a prayer book for clerics, and living parchment for druids (neat little name for paper that needs to be watered daily :D). These classes should also follow the guidelines for learning new spells per day. I also have a couple of new skills that mirror spellcraft for the wizards but are instead usable with the cleric and druid's Wisdom modifier instead of INT modifier. They are Prayercraft for the Cleric, and Wildcraft for the Druid. I'm doing this because I really don't like the spellpoint systems given for classes outside of psionics because of serious issues, namely casting 9th level spells 15 times a day. This still keeps a somewhat vanacian feel but expands on utility. I hope you like. This is a work in progress and will probably be instituting it sometime this month should I work out all of the little kinks in it. |
