| Ranger REG02-06-06, 03:42 AM | It's a logical assumption. Unless you have WP up the Wazoo's -- which then begs the question, why even use VP/WP? -- the low WP score would give players an idea that their PC is fragile. Weapon damage still apply as normal. Just keep in mind, any damage inflicted toward your WP automatically prompts a Fort Save or pass out from the injury. |
| FriendoftheDork02-06-06, 08:20 AM | A creature who has run out of vitality points always suffers critical hits from being hit. So the answer here is yes. On a side note I think the suggestion that you reduce SA damage on crits to 1 wp/die is ridiculous unless you also reduce damage on ranged touch spell, as well as the extra damage from strength, power attack, and magic bonus. All that does is make crits less deadly. Well I want my crits to be deadly so I'm not touching damage at all. |
| Arcade02-06-06, 08:58 AM | As written, the rules say that when VP runs out, you should apply any and all damage to WP, including full sneak attack damage. On a critical hit, damage should be applied to WP instead of VP, but extra dice such as sneak attack, flaming weapon damage, etc. should only cause one point of WP per die. As far as how I play it, if you score a critical, any damage that would normally be doubled on the critical in the normal rules is applied to WP. Any damage that would not be doubled is applied to VP instead. Yes, that means the rogue who criticals on a sneak attack does not gain any benefit to their sneak attack, but that's exactly how the normal rules work as well. |
