...Don't have a mat to stand on... [Archive] - Wizards Community

02-02-07, 07:43 PM I'm looking to get me one o' them fancy vinyl mats you can use the dry wipe markers on. Problem is I don't even what to call them, besides where to get one from.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

I'd like some kind of online or mail order company, prefereably based in the UK.

02-02-07, 07:46 PM Call up your local gaming/hobby store, and ask if they have battle maps with a 1 inch squares.

Cheapest and easiest way is to get a large sheet of graph paper (with the size squares you want) and get it laminated.

Keep in mind that these work with wet erase markers, not dry erase.

For dry erase markers, you may want to get a clear plastic sheet to lay down over a grid. In that case, you need not buy a vinyl mat; a paper grid will work as well.

02-03-07, 12:01 AM Get some clear boxing tape or scotch tape, and use that to laminate a piece of paper with a grid you've drawn on it. I've done this myself. Dry erase markers should work fine on it.

02-03-07, 12:14 AM While shopping for project supplies I found a neat product at my local Office Depot, a set of disposable plastic sheets marked with one inch squares that works well with dry or wet erase markers. I find them very useful for mapping out complex rooms ahead of time while still having a blank one available for random encounters. And the best part is they were fairly cheap, ten bucks for twenty sheets. The box is labeled "Easy Chart".
