I actually used two dormant silver balls which were of basketball size. One was of heavy Arcane Nature, the other Divine. When they were brought together...one last firework display was had by all.

a lvl 16 cleric/wizard, 4 cleric/lich(monsterous class) gesalt
alignment LE
spell: apocoplypse from the sky(BoVD)
feat: sudden widen
feat: sudden empower
feat: sudden maximize
second spell: teleport w/o error.

300 mile radius of distruction only the higheest level npcs could survive then teleport

bang

edit: for clerification the wizard levels were to qualify for lich and the lich levels were to lose your const. score as to not die from the cons. drain component of the spell.
wizard levels could be substituted for anything...its just cooler this way.

I have artifact in my game that when fully assmbled (it is in 37 pieces) slowly charges until the ritual to release it is used.

It then goes off dealing x to the power of x x times (so if x is 4, then 4^(((4^4)^4)^4) damage to everything within that many miles, where x is the number of years it has been charging undisturbed.

*A Sphere of Annihilation through the planets core
*Nerull actually manifests with several avatars and wipes every living thing off the planet
*A global pandemic where elven-bird flu mutates with ebola and golden staph
*Summon Planetary Body spell brings the moon crashing onto the Earth

Step 1 : Set up prophecy that spells out how to save the world before doom takes it.

Step 2 : Make prophecy so vague that the players wont realize that by "Saving" the world, they are helping destroy it (Trust me, players are good at doing what they think is right. Just dont tip them off with paladins ;)

Step 3 : Sit back and watch as the PC's bring about the end of the world.

Word of Genocide
Necromancy [Death]
Spellcraft DC: 2,715,200
Components: V
Casting Time: 1 quickened action
Range: 13,133,100 ft.
Area: 13,133,100-ft.-radius spread
Duration: Instantaneous
Saving Throw: Fortitude half
Spell Resistance: Yes
To Develop: 24,436,800,000 gp; 488,736 days; 977,472,000 XP. Seeds: slay (40d4 negative levels) (DC 177), destroy (400d6 damage) (DC 789). Factors: Change from target to area (20ft radius) (+10 DC), x656,655 increase area by 100% (+2,626,620 DC), x43,777 increase range by 100% (+87,554 DC), quickened spell (+28 DC), no somatic component (+2 DC), +10 bonus on caster level check to overcome target's spell resistance (+20 DC)

With a thought and a single syllable of great power, the spellcaster channels his rage and hatred of all things into the utter destruction of life on Eberron. All creatures in the area of affect take 40d4 negative levels (fortitude half) and 400d6 damage (fortitude half). The damage is of no particular type or energy. If the target is reduced to -10 hit points or less (or a construct, object, or undead is reduced to 0 hit points), it is utterly destroyed as if disintegrated, leaving behind only a trace of fine dust. Word of Genocide affects even magical matter, energy fields, and force effects that are normally only affected by the disintegrate spell. Such effects are automatically destroyed. Epic spells using the ward seed may also be destroyed, though the caster must succeed at an opposed caster level check against the other spellcaster to bring down a ward spell. If the subject has at least as many negative levels as Hit Dice, it dies. If the subject survives and the negative levels persist for 24 hours or longer, the subject must make another Fortitude saving throw, or the negative levels are converted to actual level loss.

....clerics can be liches normally

here's an idea to end the world..

have a wizard teleport the whole blasted planet a little closer to the sun, setting off a cosmic chain reaction that began to pull it faster and faster toward the sun....fun fun twilight zone?

i don't think that will work.Teleport will not change the moving speed of the world and the planet will return to its original orbit because of this.

A planet is not going to move away from a gravity well unless it speed increases. Therefor it will not return to its original orbit.

Magic orbs, doomsday rituals, its all been done a million times. How about a good old fasioned natural disaster. An ice age, or major volcanic event etc.
Mirage_1

12-20-05, 09:15 AM
or mix the two.....note, the below is a horrible combination of magic and physics and probably has some horrible mistakes

little do people realize that even magical energy is conserved, it is just on a different scale

Y = magical energy

E=MC2
y = EC2

Each magic spell cast has reduced the ambient temperature of the world little by little. While spells like fireball balanced to a degree, other spells such as cold storm quickened the process.

Now, you have a period of global cooling, triggering a new ice age. This has ironically fueled an increase use in magic to maintain standards of living, quickening the ice age

Oh dear, my life will be so shallow if I get banned from the wotc forums...

Yeah right - I've moved on in life now to the world of warhammer 40k - its much more realistic, you can enjoy it alot more than "dungeons and dragons" and there are no crappy-assed forums like this in which I have absolutely no clue why I ever joined. Do you want to know what started off the original "dnd geeky?" thread? BOREDOM. DND IS BORING WITH FAT, STUPID OLD MEN ROLLING DICE AND PRETENDING TO BE LITTLE ELVES. Warhammer 40k on the other hand is a much more sophisticated game, played by a great deal more people and has RULES THAT ACTUALLY WORK.

There aren't any arrogant moderators associated with warhammer either.

I have never got any real help from these forums, although I have been polite in saying things like "thank you alot" and "you helped me" for the pathetic dribble that some people call "feedback".

YOU GUYS SUCK!

realisticly, the DM is the only one that needs to die... he is the one that created the world (unless using a campaign setting), in that case, you'd need to track down everyone who ever bought that book, destroy the books, kill the person, and destroy the publisher's coppies.

I'm a big fan of the Vague profficy that the PC's try to fufill and actualy help bring about the end of the world... it makes for a great extension in the campaign.

Here's one.

A man with three personalities wants to end the world. He sets up and interdimensional cloning facility and creates Millions of clones, each with only one of his personalities each. His goal is to destroy all evil in the world, and prevent any more from forming, so he must destroy the world to make this happen.

The players might actually have to team up with Demons/Devils to get their help, as their planes are under seige as well.

(The cloning Facility is a Magical Item created with a Seed Spell)

I've never actually done a world-coming-to-an-end plot in
any of my campaigns, but I did once do a fantasy-world-is-
dying-out kind of thing. I basically just did as a lot of novel
writers do, and assume that over time as people gradually
stop believing in unicorns, fairys, and other happy warm
fuzzy things, they fade and cease to exist. Including even
the gods, they need worshippers to maintain their power.
The players, especially the cleric, then went on a rampage
of proselytizing and other things to make people believe in
all those things once again.

Somebody (an astrologer?) detects the dinosaur-killing asteroid. You still have a month before it arrives.

A read through the Book of Revelation might be inspiring.

So would a good description of the Norse mythos and the end of their world. (I read a comment once that the Norse gods kept on fighting even after things were so bad that the other pantheons would have run away afraid.)

A magic device that makes antimatter - you need a Tinkerer or something similar to figure that part out - and is itself immune to extreme heat and pressure (for instance, matter-antimatter explosions).

A prophecy tells of the gods convening to judge the world. The PCs get involved because the paladin (or cleric) is ordered to locate witnesses and provide their testimony to the Court.

Chemical end of the world: some high-powered fool cast heat magic into the polar oceans. This melted ... no, not the polar caps ... the methane hydrates on the sea bottom. This results in a massive release of methane, which soon becomes carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas and the world temperature rises. On top of that, there is enough new carbon dioxide that breathing gets more difficult, like being up a mountainside or in a poorly-ventilated room. The global warming world will soon melt more methane hydrates and the positive feedback loop will continue until all life is overheated or smothered. The solution is NOT to freeze the oceans, but to enhance plant growth and soak up the extra carbon dioxide. (After that, somebody will need to deal with all the extra plants.) This will require a high-powered wizard or the god of plants to cooperate.
RabbitoutofaHat

12-25-05, 10:09 PM
Vegetation stops growing, every creature capable of reproducing or any other means of furthering their numbers is rendered sterile. The seasons don't change and neither does the weather. Without any means of renewable food the world just burns out, as it can no longer sustain life.

Why does this all happen? Because little suzy didn't eat all her vegetables... or something to do with a great powerful artefact or the world needs some kind of fuel source of it's own such as the blood of a deity and you've got no volunteers.

If you want to speed things up have the plants and trees stop converting carbon dioxide into oxygen.

there was the one where you used ring gates and immovable rods to accelerate an adimantium pebble to 1.54x LS and shoot it through the south pole and hollow out the earth...

the kender one, give them something important, that'll work...

have some evil wizards pull off an ancient liches epic ritual spell, needs 20 spell lvls a day for 500 years, you could get some massive SpellCaft DC buyoff for that...

hmm, warm and fuzzies for me...

I am glad to here that becuase it is the reason I start it in the first place and that I wanted to see what people might come up with. So far I have seen people mention things from TPKs to who to end the real world. oO(and all I really wanted was a few plot ideas but got this instead)

I hope this thread keeps growing until it ends the world all by it self. :D

Meh, he's got us all. Pun-pun could spend a week attacking the earth with a butterknife and that would be the end.

You could also have the sun implode, a black hole forming in it's place.

The BBEG could also cast this insane, epic-level reverse gravity spell on the PC's stellar system. That would destroy a few things.

So many fun campaign ideas :evillaugh
