| mallemout10-03-04, 04:03 PM | So I'm trying to adapt the whole return to the temple of elemental evil adventure so my wife can play it alone. I haven't done that much DM'ing so far. Anyone familiar with the adventure and have some hints on things I have to look out for? My wife plays a slightly overpowered half-celestial half-fiend psion. She is already in the outer fane killing things. And yes, I know this is not really conventional approach to D&D DM'ing or playing the adventure. |

| jagggar10-03-04, 06:30 PM | Probably the way SS crossbred dragons do. SS says to slap on a half-dragon template to a regular dragon and then you have a cross breed dragon. Right. . . So it could be a Half-human/quarter-fiend/quarter-celestial. :D Not sure if you've looked yet, but in the Adventures board they might give you a few more replies. |

(4 - 5th level characters should have the same rough power as one 9th level character) One problem that occurs here is that with a single character you have no room for those random bad rolls that can take a character down. With nobody to back them up 1 failed save or a critical from an opponent and the campaign is over. As to this specific situation I would handle this a couple of ways: 1-If your wife is amicable have her run a character with the leadership feat giving her a cohort and perhaps other followers as well. 2-One NPC at a level probably 2 lower than the PC might be another option as well. 3-A character class with an animal companion or mount is a good option as well. With a paladin think about an alternate mount more suited to the dungeon setting of the Module. 4-If you have the Unearthed Arcana I suggest the action points system there which will give a single character a little more survivability (If they save the points for those all important saves). |

Start it from the place where the last character died. Just continue from there. I mean it is just you 2. Yes this may take away a little from the mistique, but it may give her the chance to play a few types of characters. Does sound like it is powerfull, so I am sure the character will survive(but anything can happen, when 1's are involved). It is your game so haveing a half celestial/fiend/dragon/fey/troll is up to you. By the rules the only way I could see a half celestial/ half fiend is if you take an actual demon or devil and add the half celestial template. Or take a celestal creature and add the half fiend template. Have fun. |
