Let me break it down for you: It was our party Vs. a dragon. The dragon was facing me. I had to make a jump check Vs. the dragons reflex save. If I win, I make it onto the dragons back. I then make a balance check. If I make the balance check, I get a +1 to my attack roll. If I failed it, it's a normal attack roll but I fall off. I made the balance check, and made the attack roll. I could then make my attack, which because of the conditions we applied, was basically "You ram your sword into the dragons back and run along it, splitting it in half as your jump off and land beside his head." (Think FF7: Advent Children, except it was a long asian-style dragon). It's just a cool idea to allow certain groups of actions cause certain things. If you didn't want to follow RAW, you could even give bonuses to attack/damage. For example, I had Sudden Strike and was allowed to use it because I was on the creatures back. Technically I wasn't BEHIND him, but it was allowed for hitting a vital spot (I split his spinal cord in half). Does anyone have anything else. It can include slitting a throat, jumping up and splitting a creature from top to bottom, anything. Just post your ideas, and if you like, required rolls to complete them. |

If a PC wants to try something unorthodox, I fully support it, but let them know I may choose to retroactively make it impossible or work differently if it turns out to be a problem. Also, most such actions are full-round actions and always require an opposed skill or ability check in addition to whatever else you might be trying. Have you played Kingdom Hearts 2? There's a special weird move for every monster in the game, which essentially works out to a very wuxia style of play. |
