Descriptions can be short, long, full of detail or totally lacking it. 1 Worst: Killed a little girl that was merely swooning over her rescuer, cause she was annoying. 1 Best: Party was going up against a BBEG who was wanted for numerous crimes (low-level adventure). During the first encounter his minions where quickly dispatched and he ran away to get some hostages. As the party barged into the next room the BBEG threatened to kill them if the party didn't let him go. After a bit of talking the paladin challenged the BBEG to a dual (he was a fighter with I think two levels on the paladin), one on one and if he lost the BBEG could go on his word of honor as a paladin. The BBEG accepted out of cockiness, thinking he could win as the paladin, party's main tank, took a good beating from his minions. The dual started and immediately the paladin flipped his blade on its side and began to beat down the BBEG with subdual damage. Due to his weakened state and the -4 to hit on all attacks the paladin almost died. He ended up winning at -8 hp thanks to Die-Hard feat and a miraculous critical. After the duel most of the party members wanted to kill the BBEG out right, but the paladin insisted on bringing him on trial. The BBEG was tride and executed as a result, the party rewarded from bringing the criminal to justice. The paladin even got a free bonus feat for beating the BBEG single-handedly and turning him over to the proper authorities. I've seen some better 'best' actions, but they felt too cliched to start out this thread. |

| Jindar09-22-06, 12:05 AM | Worst: Calling a band of guards into a ruined cellar to help stop an evil cult only to flee when the cultists sick a shadow mastiff on them |

Anytime that I've done it and had the time to say some final words (as in any time I haven't thrown a party member to the ground and taken a blast of dragon breath in the face), I always say something to the effect of "It's been a great honor to fight alongside you, now go, save yourselves and I will cover your withdrawal as long as I am able." Something to that effect. |
