Gives you an excuse to use the futuristic weapons in the DMG. |

| BRJN02-25-06, 08:42 PM | 2) Everybody has always known that there are Orcs in the mountains. But lately there have been more-than-usual number of Orc attacks. PCs find this out by hearing rumors of disappeared travelers, attacked caravans, &c. They may not put it together for a while, it just sounds like background noise that provides a few nights' excitement solving the crime du jour. What is going on: The Orcs have gained up a Leader who can coordinate their usually random attacks. He has eliminated attacks on each other and aimed the Orcs at the surrounding peoples. Not coincidentally, the Orcs are having a population boom. A growing number of Orcs are finding that they need lebensraum and must remove the pesky humans / elves / dwarves that live nearby. Not that this is the kind of thing that gives Orcs attacks of conscience. The Orcs are expanding from the mountains down the valleys and into the hills. They are also tunnelling down mountain ridges between valleys, but that takes longer (no dynamite) than walking along streams. There may be a dwarven fortress in the mountains that needs relieved / broken through to / reinforced for sneak attack into Orc rear. Solution: eventually somebody is going to have to draw out the Orc leader and his army for a battle of annihilation. If the hill peoples are united into an alliance, they will outnumber and surround the Orcs. The Orc survivors will not be enough to hold their recently-acquired gains and must retreat back into the mountains. If the defeat is bad enough, they will not be able to hold even that. The dwarven fortress may deliver a knock-out blow if the situation permits, possibly with PC help. This may also provide an opportunity to find or make some magic armor and equipment that is +1 normal / +5 vs Orcs. |

He then abducts the children of the town slowly, one at a time, and has them perform (vocals, instruments, etc) for all the townsfolk. Simon then sends his underlings to steal from the homes of the townsfolk. The party must stop this idolization of what Simon is doing and deal with the fact that the townsfolk actually enjoy the performances. :D ...yes...I hate American Idol... |
