| BeerMan500005-08-06, 06:57 AM | These traps were not my idea. They are courtesy of the dread illusionist Plasibeaux as played by CMFL. Trap No. 1 this trap room HAS to be gone through, because thats how the dungeon is, you gotta pass through it as there is no other way to enter. when you do, the door closes behind you then the ceiling starts to slowly come down indiana jones style. When the party searches they find a secret panel (make it very easy to find) in this door is a level that unlocks another panel on the closed door on the other side of the room. In this 2nd panel theres a big lever in there that says "Pull me." whenever they pull the lever the ceiling goes back to the top... but starts coming down again as soon as it gets there every time they pull the lever. On either side of the lever panel there is a red and blue button. the buttons have magic mouth on them and say weird things; for instance the blue button says "press the red button"; the red button says "don't push this button again!" One button sounds a loud horn and the other button sounds a gong. that's all they do. After 6 rounds when the ceiling gets close the players they hear a loud alarm, and a magic mouthed "warning, warning, please pull the lever! WARNING" pulling the lever always resets the ceiling to the top only to have it come right back down again in the same sequence. There is a small hour glass in the panel that is clearly labeled, "In 10 minutes your time is up." How to get past it. when the ceiling gets down to 4.5 feet after, 9 rnds, if nobody pulls the lever it stops and the door opens. The halls echo with the laughter of Plasibeaux. its basically not even a trap, and it won't kill anybody. it's just designed to mess with the party, make them give up hope, and when they do thats when they succeed. It also primes them for the next battery of evil illusionist tricks. |
| BeerMan500005-08-06, 07:04 AM | Trap no. 2 take any 3 traps in the book you like, except make it rather easy to spot when searched for. When they see it, if they roll a spot check against 15 it looks as though it is not fully solid and appears illusory. However, that's the only thing illusionary about it. It's a very real trap, that's made to look like a real trap. |
| Fend05-08-06, 09:55 AM | Book of chalanges is a good one for traps - heres one - Party is Searching through a temple of Nerul for a LicheCleric's Phylactery. the Temple also contains the "Black book of Nerul" in the arms of the Statue of a Reaper in a secret passage. This entire room/Trap is a massive Lock Mechanism to open the door to that room (which is charged with a minor negative energy atribute "And" has an Entropic Reaper Gaurdian...) 3. Water Capstan Trap from the Book of Challanges, but instead of Water it Fills the room with Maggots. And instead of "tiny Vipers" It Summons 2 Maggot Golems! Which Rise litterally and silently up behind the Capstan turners and attempt to Pin and Drown them in the maggots! Death Trap you might say? Why yes... yes it is. |
| BeerMan500005-08-06, 04:10 PM | Trap no. X Any broad hallway, room, or area about 15 foot cubic or circular area works well for this trap. Just make sure there is plenty of space between the ceiling and the floor where ever you use it. Okay, it's a teleport trap... very simple. The players step on the teleport space and if they fail their save they are teleported 50 feet in the air straight up. Of course they will fall to the earth immediately where they will be offered another saving throw against the very same trap. They can opt to fail their saving throw at any time if they wish, but when they pass they slam back into the earth. The players can fly, levitate, jump, climb, walk a tightrope, or use featherfall to get past this trap However, there is a lever on the other side of the room that is clearly marked, "DO NOT PULL THIS LEVER" and is magic mouthed to protest with extreme caution anyone who attempts to pull the lever. The first person who pulls the lever will be teleported back over the teleportation sphere along with a dozen Zombie Monkeys who will immediately screech like mad wildly biting and grabbing onto anything they can. On the positive side, a chest of 200 platinum pieces will fall from the ceiling next to the lever if they did pull it. The chest won't teleport into the trap. The lever now says, "DO NOT PULL THIS LEVER AGAIN." If they are so brave as to do so, this time they will teleport right back 50ft over the teleportation trap, along with 3 dozen daggers, swords, hammers and a 500 lb Anvil forcing a reflex save of an appropriate level to avoid being crushed by the anvil when they finally stop, and a reflex save every round or take 4d8 damage per round. This time the only thing that drops from the ceiling is the 500 lb anvil. The only way across this trap is to just avoid stepping on the 25 foot stretch of affected space. Or by casting feather fall the first time and by not pulling the lever. |
| stargate52505-08-06, 04:46 PM | ten foot wide spiked pit trap, illusioned to look like solid floor. In front of that is ten feet of solid floor illusioned to look like a pit trap. First time my players willingly jumped into a pit trap. |
| PenderGrass05-08-06, 08:10 PM | Isn't it kind of not too smart to post anything that you want to survive right now? I mean, The message boards are now undergoing both a hardware and software upgrade. The work is taking place on a "snapshot" of the current boards made at 9 pm PDT, May 1. What this means to you is that NO POSTS made after this time will be ported to the upgraded boards, nor will new registrations be allowed during this period. They did try to warn you, right? Trap 1A - Convince people to start "1001 xyz threads" when they will be dumped for the new board upgrade. :dragon: **** |
| feartheinvinceblehamster05-08-06, 08:46 PM | Personal favorite trap: As you enter the room, a glowing number hovers in the middle of the room. Near it is a button. The number says "15" but is counting down the seconds. The door is solid stone and looks completely immovable. Each time you press the button, the timer resets. It's impossible to open the door in any way. How does the door open? The timer finishes it's countdown. I love playing off PC assumptions. :D |

(button opens the door and counting down was an explosion.) |
| feartheinvinceblehamster05-08-06, 09:24 PM | I actually got that trap from a thread...I think it's from a situation on "Best lines ever" |
| Secrets Untold05-08-06, 09:31 PM | It's from the Design and Development article, Traps Feedback. |
