| PHDrillSergeant07-27-05, 12:49 PM | Post here 1001 different planes and their planar rules. 1. A 10' x 10' "plate" demiplane with nothing on it. 2. A flat planet with the gravity center below ("The earth is flat!") 3. Circular, spinning ring, a-la "Ringworld" 4. Plane where everyone is frozen in cement. |
| Radijs07-27-05, 12:59 PM | http://www.unicornjelly.com/ - has its own plane with some very unique laws of physics. http://www.pasteldefender.com/ - also a unique plane From the same creatrix as Unicorn Jelly. |
| Elrathh07-27-05, 03:18 PM | All DCs should be made for the party in question, so I won't name any besides the inital save to resist entering the plane. Demiplane of Nightmare- This plane is the creation of Zenacar's, who using his Amulet of Terror, created a place to punish, terrorize, and kill people he wants. His amulet is the only way in, and the only way out as well. When Zenacar wants to send a creature to the demi-plane, he simply touches the amulet and stares at the creature. Treat this as a gaze attack with 60ft range, with the Will save DC being 20+PC's class level. If the creature fails, they are shifted to the Demiplane. This demi-plane is a very dark place, limiting most sight. The ground is almost black, that has ashy dirt and parched ground. Ironically, their are various ponds scattered around the ground. If a creature looks into the pool, they must make a Will save or be stunned with fear. This lasts for d4 rounds. As the players arrive, they see a small jagged mounain in front of them, with a large manor on top of it. The mountain looks unnatural, as the area around it is completely flat, because of this, it seems exceptionally large. It seems to be about 1/2 mile away from their current position. An unholy aura permeates from the plane, shakening (-2 on almost everything) all creatures that are not immune to fear. If a character can fly, either magically or naturally, they are not able to touch off, and simply feel wayed down (an anti-fly field negates all air-born movement). At various times, shades will attack the party, hopefully keeping them on their toes (if the characters are too powerful for normal shades, increase them a bit). When the party arrives at the small mountain, about 2,000 ft tall, they notice it will be a long climb. This will probably be a very difficult climb, based off the treacherous crags. However, a Search check will notice a less treacherous area to climb up. Once the party is at the top of the mountain, they see a manor made of bone and stone. At the imposing gate made of stacked bones are two figures standing straight up (either golems or statues) as if guarding the bridge that leads to the door. The bridge is composed of wood, poorly cut with branches and splinters sticking out. The manor itself should be custom-made for the party, with emphasis on fear and mind-effecting abilities. However, big creatures with big swords can be scary too ;) . I suggest Nightmare Beasts (MM2) if the party can handle them. Once the party gets to the top floor, they confront Zenacar and all his cohorts. After they slay the monster (Kobold Sorcerer Lich for my adventure), they merely have to touch the amulet to reappear in the real world. They appear at their previous real world spot. Wow, alot more then I intended to write. |
| tarkin07-27-05, 03:28 PM | Plane where my Girldfriend is always right (VERY strange place) Munchkin Plane (Every over-powered abuse you can think of works. Gods run and hide from PCs) Plane of Song (Bardic spells and abilities are extended, Empowered, Widened and Enlarged) Plane of Lost Socks and Coat Hangers (Alive and angry) Plane of Charismatic Beauty. Creatures are magically transformed, those with low CHA are ugly, those with high CHA are pretty. Plane of Nerds. As above, but use Intelligence not Charisma. Plane of Piety (as above, but Wisdom) Material Plane: As above, but Strength (joke) |
| Nyarlathotep07-27-05, 03:59 PM | 13. Similar to #1 (10'x10' flat plane) except there is an orc eternally guarding a chest |
| Morka07-27-05, 04:24 PM | 14. The Landmiir Demi-Plane is about the size of France. There is a central city. There is a Minor Positive Energy Dominant Trait, and as a result, the vegetation is luxuriant, and underground mines are replenished in one week. There is also a Strongly Law Aligned Trait, many Lawful Outsider took residence on this plane to take advantage of its limitless ressources: Archons, Formians and Devils. As a result, some places are endless battlegrounds. |
| Eightbitmage07-27-05, 06:28 PM | A great plane that every dwarf is weened on as a wee child. They are told that Morodin in his great wisdom knew he needed a place to send his most trusted followers as a reward, and so he made this great demi plane. Crossing bits from the elemental planes of fire, water and air, he devised this new land ripe with all that is good. This plane has passed into lore and legend and few even know that it is real. The elemental plane of beer. Any and all liquids on this plane are converted to some form of alcohol. This plane is entirely made of alcohol, and dwarves can breathe as normal despite being emersed in liquid. They also gain swim speed 30 while on the plane. This plane is made up of infinite micro planes. Someone in the elemental plane of beer can will their perception of the plane to become any type of alcohol they wish. This includes subtypes within varieties (different types of beer, different brand names, ale, wine, mead ect...) To them the alcohol that makes up the plane is that. Multiple people can perceve multiple types of alcohol as well. Gravity goes down, elves take a -2 on all d20 rolls (stupid elves) the plane is infinately large. |
| mrshupizdumaterinu07-27-05, 06:51 PM | Plane of 1001 threads. No matter how much the characters seek, they'll never find anything useful here. |
| Arrowhen07-27-05, 07:16 PM | Plane where my Girldfriend is always right (VERY strange place) Isn't that called the Prime Material Plane? |
| SwitchUK07-27-05, 08:44 PM | Why not take a leaf out of Larry Niven's book, and create the Smoke Ring? A doughnut-shaped gas torus clustered close around a neutron star. No gravity as such (not even the D&D mind-controlled version) so it's a completely free-fall environment. the plane contains only a few kilometers of inhabitable environment, which is an area of breathable (albeit somewhat rarified) air close to the star. Get too far away, and the air becomes cold and too thin to breath, get too close, and it gets very hot and humid. Among the native flora, the most important is something called an "integral tree". This is basically a plant several kilometres in length, laid out so that it points directly at the star. The tidal forces at work along its length provide for makeshift gravity at either end, and the trees are inhabited. People tend to be much taller than average (about eight feet for an average human, and a dwarf from the Smoke Ring is as tall as a normal human) and weaker, but very agile and co-ordinated. anyway, my made-up demiplanes: 1: a plane that is contiguous with the elemental plane of fire. Although it is not fire-dominant, the entire plane consists of a baking hot desert without a sun - the whole sky is on fire, permanently. The plane is a flat disc a thousand miles across, the edge of which meets the dome of fire that is the sky. Although it is hot, the plane is still cool enough for liquid water to exist, so the desert is scattered with the occasional oasis, around which encampments and towns are built. The steaming waters of these oases are as warm as a hot bath, and very soothing to bathe in, and the vegetation that grows up around them is hardy and strong, and highly resistant to heat and flame. The whole plane is considered part of the empire of the Sultan of the Efreeti. A few of the planar portals in the City of Brass lead to the great desert, but anybody in the great desert can shift to the Plane of Fire simply by stepping or flying into the flames of the sky. 2: Kirofram, the oracle plane. (Or Ghirfurram, K'jhirr-fr-rhkam, Quioloqam...) To any visitors, the plane appears to consist of nothing more than deep, impenetrable darkness, extending in all directions, though there is some kind of solid surface underfoot. The only features are the doorway to the Infinite Staircase (which is the only access to Kirofram) and the Eye of Kirofram. Kirofram is, in fact, a sentient demiplane. The Eye is the only part of its form that it allows to be seen, and consists of just that - a large, lidless, purple eye, with a vertical slit pupil, mounted on a gnarled rope of flesh that plunges down into the darkness. It is known as the Oracle Plane for a simple reason - it will answer any question asked of it, and appears to have unlimited knowledge. As might be expected, however, its replies are usually terse, short, and unique - it rarely answers the same entity more frequently than once in a hundred years. Luckily, however, it is never cryptic, preferring to answer the question in the simplest manner possible whilst still getting the message across. There are exceptions: a particularly intelligent or challenging question, or one that Kirofram deems to be "worthy" of its intellect, might earn the questioner a measure of the plane's respect. Entities who have earned Kirofram's respect are few and far between, but can call upon the plane at any time, with any question, and will receive detailed answers, so long as they don't fall out of the Plane's favour by asking a truly petty or inane question of it. |
| kam_Islash07-27-05, 08:48 PM | -Elemental plane of meat. Everything is made of barbecued beef and mesquite chicken, kept ever hot and moist. It rains meat juice. |
| Helmed Horror07-27-05, 09:02 PM | The demi-plane of dogback. The plane is an infinatley long stretch of a arrid earth that almost flakes off. The plane is entirely covered with a monotone exotic fauna that waves in the wind that consists of a single wiggling trunk that moves side to side. (insert color of your favorite dog; if dog is multi-colored, adjust accordingly) It is a finite wide though, only XXXX miles wide. (once again, adjust to your perferred dog) The plane is barren except for its innumerable amount of small sized insects that jump with amazing grace. A few, rarer beasts live as well. This plane boarders the demi-plane of dogmouth. |
| Red Winter07-27-05, 11:43 PM | Altenna; A highly advanced realm populated entirely by women. Men are slain on sight. Stylize after victorian london, caste system ranging from slaves to the Judges who arbitrate all of society. Low magic realm, magic items are reduced in power. Wizards can memorize 2 less spells of each level, to a minimum of 1. Sorcerers are unaffected. Gunpowder weapons exist. Khedon; A dark realm of war where the land has been shattered. Fragments of earth float as if in zero gravity. Residents are affected as if there is a perpetual downwards gravity. Soldiers fight against one another in eternal battle, but the slain do not perish, instead suffering the agony of each inflicted wound until they are restored and re-recruited by a new faction. Each faction is led by a demigod. Divine magic users must swear themselves to one of these demigods, or every spell they cast is instead a Harm spell of the appropriate level (or the next-highest spell level, as required). The dead on Khedon do not pass into the next world. Instead they are reduced to -9 hp and cannot gain or lose life until they are recipients of a heal spell. Every week that passes before a Khedonite dead is revived causes 1 point of permanent WIS damage as they are driven insane by circumstance. Morass; A nature realm, Morass has no landmass, and is simply an eternal tangle of vinelike vegetation. Nonmagical metals rust away and magical items are turned to wood over the course of a day per pound. Morass is heavily populated by feral, dire and horrible beasts, most of which have powerful climb speeds. Morass is often ventured into for the fungal herb 'Troll Blood', which gives a person a regeneration rate, but temporarily reduces their CHA by -1 for every 5 points they heal with this regeneration, to a minimum of 3. (Healed flesh becomes scaly, with bony/horned growths.) Those reduced to 3 CHA with Troll's Blood get +2 to strength and constitution, and become feral beasts until they are recipients of a heal spell. Zharad; Zharad is a lost world troubled by much difficulties. It's effectively a small, flat material plane (think about the size of Australia) that's sitting beneath a plane of lightning (which provides light, as well as a perpetual, violent thunderstorm), to the west of a nature realm (which provides life and flora) and is bordered on each other side by oblivion, an open void of darkness. It's a plane that sustains life by chance, not by design, and has been ruled by orc kings, dragons and most recently, a demoness. It's citizens have not known 5 years of peace. Zharad has long been a hiding place for demons ejected from whatever realm of hell, hades or the abyss they once ruled in. Recent troubles with a Tengu (crow) demon goddess has given just about every citizen a phobia of birds and flying creatures. Zharad's most recent ruler (Tengu Goddess Klestra) is diffused into the plane, and she seeks to possess any creature with a fly speed, most likely a familiar. If this opportunity does not present itself, she'll hijack a player's summon monster or summon nature's ally spell, and make it summon fiendish giant crows. These crows will not disappear at the end of the spell's duration, and if they escape, one will be the host for Klestra, others may serve as hosts for her lieutenants. Few know it, but Zharad has 'blank' artefacts. They're not common, but they are nondescript magic items that have no powers on their own, but can be used to put together a larger, working item, so long as 50% of the required pieces are present. For example, players discovering that a part of the rod of seven parts has been destroyed might use a blank artifact to replace it. The rod would work as normal, and the blank artefact would eventually become the object it was meant to be. Entropolis; A smallish, spherical world, Entropolis' civilizations flourished and the entire realm is covered in civilizations dead and alive -> There is not an area that isn't or wasn't once a city. The most active parts have crude skyscrapers and living warrens, while the abandoned parts have ruins and cities that stretch deep into the land. Entropolis bears a deity of nature that is dying. If civilization continues to thrive, (and if the people return to and reconstruct the ruins) the nature deity will perish, and the world will end; sunlight will cease, the ground will not bear fruit, and the air will not renew itself. To save Entropolis, a great disaster must cause such damage that the area will not be habitable for years to come. Druids, users of nature magic and clerics of nature deities are unable to cast spells in Entropolis. (And these classes do not exist in Entropolis) They can, however, call upon the deity for a temporary boost in their personal ability, as a free action. This grants a bonus to a statistic equivalent to the spell level they were attempting to cast (but cannot raise a statistic above 25). Each time they do this, there is a cumulative risk draining the last of the deity's reserves, and ending the world. Whisperkin; Whisperkin is a world shrouded by a continual silence effect. It's inhabitants communicate by touch, with a language of pressures through fingertips. Whisperkin scholars are only a mere few years from perfecting the perfect, most efficient and beautiful written language. Whisperkin is set up as a flat surface spiralling down a pillar, which forms the crux of their world. Any noise in Whisperkin causes unthinkable devastation. The sound of a pin dropping can shatter glass, and a person's voice could crumble stone. While Whisperkin develops texts, spells and magic items at a significant discount, and of awe-inspiring quality (all items are half price, and masterwork equipment is available at prices for standard equipment), they only trade in their own unique currency (rings, often worn through skin to display one's wealth, or on clothing), and the items remain vulnerable to sound, shattering with any loud noise within 30 feet (a bellow), and a quiet noise within 5 (a normal speaking volume). For an adventure hook, players might be sent to get a rare tome and bring it to a library intact. However, Vrocks have found their way to whisperkin, and their dance of ruin disrupts the plane's rules for 30 seconds. They are holding the world hostage, and threaten to use Power Word: Shout at the base of the pillar. |
| High Octane07-27-05, 11:48 PM | Plane where my Girldfriend is always right (VERY strange place) Thats every plane of existance ever known, including this one. |
| Lao, Ninja of the Dragon07-28-05, 12:36 AM | Fortress of the Light. A demiplane that floats through the lower planes. It is a fortress full of Celstials of all varieties. The celstials strike out against the major cities throughout Pandemonium, Carceri, Gehenna, Acheron, Baator, Hades, and the Abyss. They were last seen attacking Naratyr, Orcus realm (I think?) |
| Morka07-28-05, 09:17 AM | Ice Floe Demi-Plane: Think of those plastic balls featuring a landscape; when you wave it, simili snow invade all the ball and slowly fall down. This plane is the same thing, but hundred miles radius; the border is a force field of epic resistance. There is a central volcano which enter in erruption every 400 days, the remaining of the plane is a Ice Floe floating on a cold sea. The sphere is orbiting around a distant, greenish sun; the day last only 5 hours for 18 hours of night. Save some fish and mollusks, the plane is inhabited by a half copper/ half topaze dragon, trapped there by a gold dragons society who couldn't stand the abomination of an half-breed dragon. |
| SwitchUK07-28-05, 10:37 AM | Moebius: A moebius strip of collossal proportions, suspended in an infinite, dark void. The strip itself is surrounded by breathable air,and is comprised of normal earth. Most forms of plant life will not grow on Moebius, as the soil is dry and barren, and there is no sun or source of light at all, save for the fires and torches of the city of Moebius, which covers all the available surface of the strip, it's architecture every bit as twisted and uncomfortable to the eye as the terrain it rests upon. Though not as large nor as influential as Sigil, Union or The City of Brass, Moebius is nevertheless a powerful force in its own right, as it serves as one of the few stretches of neutral ground near the lower planes. The city is populated primarily by half-fiends, who keep close checks on the demons and devils that visit Moebius to trade for what little they cannot find within their own realms. Skirmishes and violence are common on the streets of Moebius, but are usually put down swiftly and Brutally by the Broken Soldiers - a loose-knit mob of half-fiends and tieflings who serve as a makeshift police force. Moebius is mildly law-aligned and mildly and evil-aligned in itself, and the majority of the inhabitants are evil to some extent. Neutral citizens are rare, and Good beings simply cannot tolerate the place, much less survive there for any length of time, before a knife finds them in the dark. |
| Carn Vandoril07-28-05, 11:13 AM | Very cliche, I know.....: Demi-Plane of glory. (Avalon type) Just before their soul leave their body, Heronieous and Corellon together can take such a soul to the plane of glory and reshape a fitting body. On this plane these almost slain hero's of goodness may live a peacefull live without murder or burden for as long as they want. Once the body is created, the body can't leave this plane. Hero's who choose to keep their memories of horror and experience, do so to write magnificent history books or books on the art they possesed. The inhabitants of this plane are all once hero's of rightiousness, accomanied by thier beloved one's that died and their animals. the nature is rich and some (half-)celestials found their way to this plane aswell (ex summoned celestial allies :D ). Law, order, peace, glory and joy reign on this plane. It's said that paladin's and other lawful good could be invited to this plane for special knowledge or training by Heronieous and Corellon. |
