| EvanFrostheart08-01-07, 06:55 PM | I recently received Heroes of Horror, Drow of the Underdark, Book of Vile Darkness, and Expedition to Castle Ravenloft as gifts (My friends know my secret side too well...). Anyway, I love all of the little description additions and villainous traits in HoH, the general Dog-Eat-Doggedness of the drow and the torture implements in BoVD. So, da-da-DAA! I made a thread for them! Please, if you decide to post a torture device a/o creepy item, use the generic item block. #. Title Description: Description Content... blah... Weight: #lbs. Price: # of units of currency I'll start it off with a creepy/icky villain thing: 1.Whenever the villain captures a prisoner, he/she she interrogates them for info, and if they don't tell anything, they lick the inside of the prisoners ear.:P (I think the smiley is quite fitting, don't you?) |

| temparus200008-01-07, 07:59 PM | from the BoVD, I sent a Vaath at my guys once. The cleric it latched to did NOT like knowing what his own entrails tasted like. But other than that, I generally don't go out of my way creep my players out, I find that it disturbs a pleasent gaming atmosphere |
| Jamesks08-01-07, 11:29 PM | When the PC's pry a corpse off the wall it was nailed to in order to loot it, they find the wall behind it and the armor the corpse is wearing is coated in maggots. Needless to say that suit of armor found it's way to the market. Golems designed to look like children. Even worse if they are Flesh Golems. A perfectly circluar underground cavern that appears to have every surface covered with large gem-encursted golden orbs. In truth they are idle clockwork horrors. Big empty anything. Villages, underground fortresses, ancient ruins, ships at sea, caravan of wagons, anything. A pair of large, but prefectly harmless, lizards wandering through the desert, one with an ornate dagger stuck in it's side. This one was just a favor element for one of my games, but it drove the players nuts as they had to find out what the lizards 'really are' and what great story was behind the dagger. |
| Another_Poet08-01-07, 11:31 PM | 8. An NPC has no long-term memory. He seems polite and capable enough, but after several minutes is at a loss to who the PC's are or what they are doing. 9. While in a particular location, no PC's can sleep. However, they do continue to get more and more drowsy. 10. When the PC's return to a room they left just moments earlier, it is completely covered in blood. All furniture is broken or moved, all wall hangings or curtains are torn, and bits of bone and gore are on the floor. No actual bodies are there, and the PC's heard no sounds coming from the room. It was perfectly clean when they left it. 11. Someone catches a case of the ethereal flu (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=815379). |
| Polop08-02-07, 01:50 AM | hehe, I got my group once with a troll I described as barely keeping himself together with his natural regen powers. this was at an into to a dungeon crawl classic, and I decided to have the troll save against the disease that the PC's can get in the mod, I rolled a one. I made a group of elves feel sad for a troll. |
| anshar08-02-07, 02:54 AM | I once gave one of my PCs a cursed ring of invisibility. At first, he simply couldn't remove the ring and remained invisible. Then, after a few days of this, he became ethereal. Then, his voice started to fade until nobody could hear him and he was little more than a disembodied consiousness. The feeling of helplessness it created was priceless. |

| EvanFrostheart08-02-07, 02:41 PM | Living Pasta Description: A bowl of pasta with a single living garden snake in it. Roll d% to see if a PC swalllows it without biting it. (20% chance they do not chew) Describe to the PC the strange way the snake squirms in his esophagus and then writhes and coils in his stomach. Weight: 1 lb for the pasta and bowl, 2 ounces for the snake. Price: Rubbish to most, 10gp to someone with a flair of malevolence. This drove the druid nuts! He thought he was going to die... :evillaugh Bottled Taint Description: This pint sized flask of noxious black liquid gives off an aura of bodily corruption and mental depravity. It is the very essence of rape, murder, theft, madness, and evil. All within 5 ft. of the bottle switches to an evil alignment (keeps old Lawful, Neutral, or Chaotic.) temporarily. The imbiber gains 1d8 taint spread equally to corruption and depravity. (round up) One bottle contains 3 doses. Can be made with a DC 20 Craft (poisonmaking) check. Ingredients: one small taint elemental which is to be boiled in 1 gallon of human blood with an Unhallow spell. Weight: negligible Price 2,000 gp I know the ingredients are steep, but this junk is powerful. And by the way, the average 150 lbs human has 5 quarts of blood. |
