So I wanted to see what kind of epic fight scenarios other people have used. (Note: Not just storyline epic, but the situation/setting epic as well) 1. In Eberron my players were looking for an artifact, (an orb that absorbs positive and negative energy), and they ended up having to go into Drow infested territory and into a temple the drow were using as a place of worship. Once there they ran into some new aquaintances who they were sorta friendly with, only to realize both groups were after the orb and neither was willing to step down. The two groups got seperated before they could duke it out only to meet in the final room of the dungeon. The players come into a large circular chamber with 4 entrance points. Right as they enter the room the see Drow chasing their aquaintances out into the room as well. Drow are filtering in another hallway and another group of baddies who they know are after the Orb as well come in another room. So starts a four way fight between the players, their aquaintances (who they temporarily allied with), the drow, and the other baddies. Midway through the fight the Orb gets knocked off it's pedestal and starts rolling around, because it absorbs positive energy anyone who touches it gets killed. It turned out pretty epic. 2. The players are chasing a wizard who's managed to steal the aformentioned orb from them. They enouncter him as he's in the process of stealing an airship from Morgrave university. He get's away on the airship, in order to pursue him they end up stealing an airship as well. The rest of the battle plays out in a highspeed chase across the skies, with spells flying left right and center, eventually both air ships get damaged and the fight is continuing as both elementals threaten to break their bonds and wreak havoc on the ships AND both ships are falling out of the sky. |

They were fighting on a series of small floating islands some six or seven miles up and the BBEG was flying all around the islands, even destroying them as they fought it. I don't remember why, but none of the players were flying, so they jumped from island to island (often with gaps of 20 feet or more) while fighting this guy. 4. My newest plan for a final fight is to take place in a rather large chamber with pools of lava. While this sounds like a somewhat more interesting fight than normal, the entire place is aslo a Wild Magic zone with orbs of chaos forming and disappearing constantly. The BBEG is going to be a Wild Mage to minimize the effects on him. In addition, he'll be fully prepped by the time the PCs get there. 5. Nothing says "Epic Battle" like a guy sitting there in midair, laughing as hundreds of weapons that had lined the wall moments ago now swirl around him. Master of the Unseen Hand can create a sweet boss with very little work. Doing it on a Balor would make for a truly awesome character. All that's left is a suitable lair and other neat abilities (Entropic Shield comes to mind) and voila! You've got an epic-feeling battle. |

The PCs, after a lengthy campaign involving fierce battles and dungeon crawls, follows the BBEG ( the most powerful member of The Triad, from the church of Tharizdun) into the Dreaming God's prison plane. The Triad member has successfully harvested the 4 main essences of the Elemental Lords of Evil, which need to be placed in a specific manner on the sigil warding Tharizdun's prison in order to free the God of Entropy into the world. Although the prison has a mighty warden (a Solar), this one is being kept weakened by Tharizdun's minions - 4 advanced shadowalkers from the MM (at least that's what I think theyˇre called... huge shadowy undead with powerful SLA). By the time the PCs have pinpointed his location, the mad cleric has already solved 2 parts of the 4 way puzzle - halfway into releasing the most dreaded force in the multiverse! The PCs must face a choice: split up and assist the dying Solar while a smaller faction takes on the mad cleric, or concentrate fire on the BBEG and hope they can take him down and later survive the wrath of the advanced undead horrors! |

| Kallionastiryne04-02-08, 09:29 PM | I have used this yet, but I might. As the adventurers walk down a large set of wet, stone stairs, they walk into a large hall way that slowly becomes narrower and narrower and they can't see the end. It's pitch black, so they can't see anything. The sound of warcrys, cussing and orders being commanded in Draconic is heard. Suddenly several Kobolds light their torches revealing about thirty Reptillian and Draconic medium humanoids charging at them. An epic fight would follow, but the Challenge Rating 13 party could handle it. |
