Etc, etc, etc... my DM prefaces every session with a mention on how we're going to die.

The party was facing a mimic in a dungeon, and as the gnome cleric got stuck to it during the fight. They looted the room and were getting ready to leave. Nobody had yet pulled the gnome lose from the mimic's corpse so I asked if they intended to yank him free with the following phrase:

5. Is anyone going to jerk the gnome off?

A few minutes later we quit laughing and someone did.

7) "The Noble Salamander casts Dispell Magic." Said to a character playing a dwarf with a Cloak of Wings when he specifically flew over a lava pit to attack said Noble Salamander. The rest of the players thought it was freaking hilarious.

The dwarf was later resurrected.

8)

This particular one involves 3 people of our 6 person group. The DM (me), the Ninja, and the Monk, Randy. (Monk is most likely to trigger traps, get bitten by diseased things, catch fire, fall off a cliff, etc, etc, etc)

DM: You rolled what now?
Ninja: A 15.
DM: Let's see....
Ninja: Do I hit?
DM: Randy, make a Reflex save.
Monk: WHAT? Why? (jaw drops, confused stare, the works)

It was great, because I made him do a Reflex save because he ran into a bugbear (head on, as it was walking towards them in a dark tunnel, and he failed his spot check and ran into it holding an "everburning torch" like an Olympic flame), he got bit by two dire rats (Fort saves vs disease), attacked by a thoqqua (Ref vs. catching fire), another Ref save to avoid a Crit. by another Bugbear (I sometimes allow Ref saves to avoid attacks, but ONLY when I ask for it, it's like letting them dodge an attack because I want them to, but only if they have the "reflexes")

So he kept making saves, and was confused when he had to make a save and it wasn't even his turn. Not only that, but it wasn't MY turn either. The Ninja attacks a goblin and the Monk must make a Reflex save. (no real reason, I just said that to freak him out)

10 ) rocks fall, everybody dies... haha just kidding.

seriously though, everybody dies.

moral = never cast spells able to move rock or cause very loud noises while within ancient, unstable kobold tunnels.

11 ) hmm... not enough. ok, guys... hand me more dice... (my various d6's were strewn across the table, outside arm's reach, so naturally, i only had 2 with me. they were :weep: i was :D)

moral = ask for their dice, cause yours aren't scary enough

12 ) how did that BBEG's PrC's class ability work again... :( wait while i bring out the BoVD and check it out...

moral = the BoVD is a great source of player torment... even if you're not actively using it

We were talking after the session had ended, and somehow the pope came into it

PC1: I walk up to the pope.
DM (Me): On which side?
PC1: Uh...the left side.
Me: The left side is trapped! YOU DIE!
PC2: I walk up on his right side.
Me: The right side is trapped! YOU DIE!
PC3: I jump in his lap.
Me: His lap is trapped! YOU DIE!
(we start discussing when to meet next)
Someone: How about next tuesday?
Me: Tuesday is trapped! YOU ALL DIE!

"XXX is trapped! YOU DIE!" has now become a running joke in that group.

PCs enter a room with a Dire Bat sleeping upside down on the ceiling, and the Wizard had a bag of Dire Rat feces from the previous room (I do not know why.)

Wizard: "I throw the bag of crap at the giant bat."
*Rolls attack, misses the base 9 needed to hit a large sleeping creature with a touch attack.*
Me: "You miss the bat. Everybody roll Reflex saves to dodge the poo."
Fighter: (to Wizard) "Gods I hate you..."
*Everyone makes saves.*
Me: "You all managed to dodge the direct blow. Now, splash damage!"

Well, this has some funnyness said by me and my players: Behold, the reason I hate the dice gods!

I have a player who doesn't like to be proved wrong. EVER. He never admits his mistakes. So, we were playing with a few miniatures I have, and he was a few squares away from the bugbears.

Him: I attack!
Me: Erm...how..?
Him: With my Longsword!
Me: Uh...look at the game board, and guess why you can't attack.
Him: Why?
Me: You're...15 feet away...
Him: I know...I'm going to...err...throw my sword!

So, he throws his sword. Critical hit.

Me: :uh-huh: Erm...you decapitated the Bugbear...well done.

A few rounds later, just one hobgoblin is left.

Rogue: I attack him!
Me: :waits: You've got to be kidding me. You only have a bow, and you're in close range! Please, tell me you're going to move...
Rogue: I stab him with my arrow!
*rolls crit, rolls max damage, rolls sneak attack...*
Me: You have GOT to be kidding me! Your arrow goes...through his groin. Yeah, he's dead.

One of my favorites has to be when I was giving my players a hard time because they wouldn't use the "take 10" rule and would role over and over until they finally got a good result. I finally convinced them that they can use it when they're not threatened, so one of my players (playing a human bard) decides to cast a healing spell:

PC: I'm going to cast heal.
Me: Ok role.
PC: I'm just going to take a 10.
Me: Do you feel threatened right now?
PC:  No, not really.

So I jump up and slap him in the face. He just sat their for about 3 minutes  until he finally grasped what had just happened. He brings that up all the time now and we always have a good laugh over it.

DM(me): "Quick, how mny dce does a 52nd rogue get on sneak attack?"

Party Wizard,"26 dice."

DM(me),"You Sure?"

Party Wizard," Yeah"

Other Player: still in shock that the Advanced, Half-Fiend, Great Wyrm Red Dragon Also has Rogue Levels..

DM(me): " Well that is alot, I'll just use the average roll of them. The Dragon does 457 dmg to the Blackguard, he is dead."

Note the Blackguard is the PC's major atagonist right now, he was trying to force the Dragon into working for him.

On my last D&D session, a set of very odd circumstances had a smart ranger with a "speacial" sorcerer caught in a corner by a zombie ogre. The ogre had paralyzed the sorcerer, but he had come to just enough to cast a spell. Everyone else was waiting to see what had happened.

sorcerer: I think we're screwed.
Ranger: Ya think!?
Me:I still need to know what you're going to do.
Sorcerer: Well, it's stupid, maybe I can cast a spell to distract it.
I cast "Ghost Whisperer".
Me: I need to know what you make it sound like.
another player: Oh! Make it sound like Weeeoooooowikiwikiaugghghglglnummmm!!
Sorcerer: I so make it sound like that.

The best part is, I got it on tape. :evillaugh

Well I have a few that I can think off of the top of my head. Not all are wholey D&D, the first one is from a serenity game.

Pc1: Okay, I'm outside the ship, where does there look like there is damage.

Me: You see none.

Pc2: I radio where the problem is.

Pc1: I head over to it. What do I see.

Me: You see a hatch with a large sealed entry way.

Pc2: I tell him how to open it.

Pc1: I open it... do I see the problem?

Me: A potato floats out of the entry way and into space.

They had a hamster on board their ship that was stealing potatos... The best part yet was this was not the actual problem with the engine... They still do not know how the hamster got the potato inside the non-airtight engine shafts... The running theory is he has a mini-space suit... ^_^

Now on to actual D&D ones:

Me: Before you is a little girl. She is jumping from square to square, saying a tune, "Calamaran, count to four, Calamaran, then three more, Calamaran, if you can see, Calamaran, you'll come with me!" *I make gestures*

Pc1: HA! DS9 episode!! I do exactly what they did in the episode.

Me: You get towards then end and get zapped by an invisible wall... take... 28 points of damage.

Pc1: What did I do wrong

Me: Nothing, you got zapped just like they did in the episode.

The next one comes from a party wizard:

Me: You see a large undead expload from the ground. He looks mean.

Pc1: I attack the warforge..

Me: You what?

Pc1: I attack the warforge..

Me: You attack the de-activated, obviouslly non hostile, not doing anything at all warforge?

Pc1: YUP!

Me:... You have awoken the warforge, he summons a demon to his aid.

Pc1: AH HA! I knew he was up to something!

Me: .... The demon kills you.

BTW: The warforge was truly not doing anything at all... he was supposed to be the encounter on their way back OUT after they leveled a bit...

My all time personal favorite:

Pc1: I run ahead of the rest of the group

Me: okay, you see a box...

Pc1: I bust it open.

Me:... okay, you see two gloves, made of silk, and some rings.

Pc1: (big giant fighter PC, btw). I put them on!

Me: ... What?

Pc1: I put them on.

Me: Okay... *rolls are heard* Please roll a D20, fort save.

Pc1: 3! (lv 1 characters, btw).

Me: ... please roll a D20.

Pc1: 2!

Me:... *looks at sheet* Please reroll that.

Pc1: what? NO! I'm keeping the two.

Me: This is your DM telling you to re-roll that, you won't enjoy what happens!

Pc1: HA! I got something good.

Other players: REROLL IT!! He is giving you a chance here man!

Pc1: Nope...

Me: Fine... fine... Your size changes.

Pc1: to what.

Me: C-cup.

other players: DAMNIT!

For the record, I was a long time fan of Ranma 1/2 and my players were very concerned that I might alter a gender or two. I dicided I wouldn't... but I felt I was being provoked. It was a basic transmutation table. 1 was human male, 2 was human female, and so on...

I've never lived it down. ^_^ Size C-cup is often said when someone picks up a magical item with out figuring out what it does, as a warning.

The party rogue 'accidentally' feel down a well into an underground river. (Actually it was a spring trap they neglected to look for, because why whould anyone trap the town well? :D ) Anyway, he shouts up to the rest of the party that there are about 20 undead kobolds on the shore.

Barbarian: I jump down the well, using the rope to keep from going into the river.

Me: Okay, make a Use Rope check.

*roll* 23.

Me: Okay, you make it down okay. *make a d100 roll* Make a spot check.

Barbarian: *roll* 3.

Me: You see a bunny. It is very fluffy, and looks tasty.

Barbarian: Oooo, bunny!

Wizard: I go down the well.

The wizard used the rope to stop about ten feet from the surface of the river, and looks around. He sees the undead, the rogue, and the barbarian.

Wizard: Kryor, you idiot! You're on the wrong side of the river!

Me to the wizard: Make a reflex save.

The necromancer the party was chasing scored a crit on a attack to the rope above the wizards head. I gave him the save to see if he fell into the water or not. He didn't. Instead...

Me: Zombie 1 moves towards you...

First one;

PC: i listen at the door *listen check* 24!
me: you hear muttered conversation in a language you don't understand, along with some grunts, a swooshing sound, and jingling like that of keys or coins.
PC: Sounds nonviolent enough, ok i move silently and put my head through the door to see what's going on.
me: *rolls* you hit the door face first, making a loud noise and alerting whatever's on the other side to your presence. Take 3 subdual damage.
PC: WHAT!!!
Pc2: omg... Did you check to see if the door was locked?
PC: *slaps own face*

next up:

A large Black Dragon walks into the bar and orders a Shirley Temple.

Last nite, Gregor, the half-dragon monk died from the `destruction` spell, while in the City of the Spider Queen module.

After the fight and after Tiberius, the cleric of Tempus, called a Planetar (via Planar Ally) to cast True Ressurection, as one of the only ways to bring him back. FYI: Tiberius is still not high enough to cast it himself.

Since Gregor`s patron is Bahamut, not Tempus (god of War) the planetar asked why he should be brought back! Many of the other PC`s lauded the monk`s valor & prowess & courage. Even the drow wizard Plugar was praising him despite the occasional head butting between the 2 characters.

That`s when I (the DM) piped up, as Rizzo the rat familiar said telepathically to his master; `But master, you often said the monk acted as if he has his quarterstaff up his a**!! :heehee    :heehee

Not me, my DM (keep in mind, we were all various Evil):

Me (after nearly soloing a Young Adult Red Dragon (13 HP left and I could have done it if my Magic-Bracer-weapon didn't explode and partially freeze me) with a Level 12 Ranger/Sorcerer/Dragon's Bane Hunter (DM homebrewed Prestige class) and getting eaten as a killing blow): Aw, crap. There goes all my items.

DM: What did you have?

Me: Vest of Escape, Various (don't remember exactly) Magic Rings and Ioun Stones, 4 Potions of Cure Moderate...

DM: *rolls for 4 Cure Moderate potions* ...and the Dragon is at full health.

Me: Well...that fight was pointless then...

Even I laughed at my own bad luck. It was even funnier later:

Fellow Player (Vampiric Blood Magus): I go to visit my ally, (whatever in the Nine Hells the Dragon's name was).

DM: You get to his cave and see him throwing up various magic items. A...

Me: ...Vest of Escape, Several Ioun Stones, a pair of Magic Rings, a Dragonbreath Bracer, and...oh, yeah...my dignity.

DM: A Vest of Escape, Several Ioun Stones, a pair of Magic Rings, a Bracer in the shape of a Dragon's head, and his dignity.

We all laughed for the next 4 or 5 minutes.

In a Rifts campaign.

Two of the players ended up buying chest amalgamates. They're these symbionts that cover the chest of the character. Imagine a huge fanged mouth in the center of your chest with a long tentacle with a smaller fanged mouth at the end of the tentacle coming out of the mouth.

The two players were sitting side by side and the tentacle of one symbiont ended up exploring a little and it started feeling the other character, whose symbiont got curious and started exploring back. Seeing what the symbionts were doing, the players separated. Both players went outside to smoke.

I looked at the rest of the group and said "Scott's is a female and Justin's is a male"

We cracked up, they came in to find out what was going on. We didn't tell them for a while. We just kept laughing at them from time to time.

In our latest session, not funny things I actually said or did, but from one of my players:

x) Against a Ragewalker (MMIII), both the tank and the rogue of the party succumbed to the Ragewalker's Blood Frenzy ability, and promptly started hacking into their allies (the tank took out the poor little Mystic Theurge before it wore off). Anyway, the Half-Golem Shapeshifting (PHBII) Druid thought it would be a good idea to grapple the Rogue, and put him in his Portable Hole to cool off (the Rogue had a Ioun stone that let him not breathe). He succeeded, but then, a few seconds later:
PC: (To Rogue) "Hang on, don't you have a Bag of Holding..."
DM(me)::evillaugh
Needless to say, the Rogue was lost to the Astral Plane...

x+1) Later in the same campaign, the PC's snuck into a cave, rounding a corner, they saw the BBEG. Then, the Druid tried to sneak after them:
PC1: (rolling d20) 4, plus the -4 check penalty, so 0.
DM(me): The man turns, he is dressed entirely in black robes. Under his hood, you can see his pale, bone white, skin. He is clutching a scythe in his hand.
PC2: I charge him.
DM: Aren't you going to talk to him? For all you know he could just be a haemophiliac hanging out in a cave.
PC1: And emo. An Emophiliac!

We have a pretty loose campaign going. Everybody sort of jokes around and stuff, and it kind of gets immature at times...but it's oh so funny:

In a city:
Cleric: I'm going to go chick-spotting in the city.
DM (me): Shouldn't you be, like, praying at the local temple or something?
Cleric: ...Well, Wee Jas told me to go chick-spotting; I don't think I should disobey him, you know?
DM: [sigh] Fine...[Roll a few dice, just to look official]
Cleric: Alright, what babes do I see?
DM: There's one mediocre-looking commoner carrying a jug of water and a cat.
Cleric: I ask her if she wants to come to the Inn with me so I can show her some divine stuff. [rolls a d20--natural 20]
DM: She says 'Yes.'
Cleric: Okay, I bring her up to my room (he bought one earlier).
DM: Alright...Make a Handle Animal check, a Ride check, and a Knowledge (Sexual Fantasies) check.

In an unded adventure in Karrnath, there was a party of a half daelkyr warmage (me, as well as the DM), a dread necromancer (Alex), a vampire spawn rogue (Alecia), and two nearly identical vampire spawn fighters (Matt and Joe). They had snuck into a town an hour and a half after sunset, asked the guards if we could come into city hallf for a while because it was cold, killed them, and killed the mayor.

Matt: Alright, let's get those papers. Check for traps.

Alecia: I search. *rolls, succeeds*

Me: Alright, the drawer has had Explosive Runes soldered on, and contact poison smeared on the handle.:D

Alecia: Geez, that's bad...

Alex: I jiggle the handle with the hilt of my greatsword.

Matt: :censored: :censored:

Me:...:twitch: :bump: Everyone outside the room, make reflex saves; Alex, what kind of character did you want to play next?
