Okay, because we totally need another 1001 list of random stupid stuff. Still, I'm trying to think up some neat and interesting traps - the easier to snitch someone else's idea :angelhide: I kid, I kid!

Okay so what do you have? The sweet but wickedly simple? The massively elaborately deadly? Gimme yer best shot!

:plotting:
1: A simple stick/leaf layer over a pit, at the "bottom" of the pit is a sheet of glass with caltops on it. if you fall through the glass you hit a thin floor which if you fell through the glass hard will give way, underwhich is a vat of sewage which as soon as the water level rises above normal(when you fall in) it dumps you through a pipe which flows into a river at the top of a waterfall.

Magic trap:
An animated rope hidden under a layer of mucky water or acid. (Maybe mountian dew.)
When someone gets close the rope lashes out and grapples the person to drag him/her into the acid to suffocate or dissolve.

"The Hall of Mirrors"

A magical trap that is, at first glance, a hall of simple mirrors that are oval in shape and roughly the size of a medium creature. As PCs walk by the mirrors and gaze upon their own reflection, a Will Check (DC is dependant upon what CR you want the trap to be and the PCs CHA modifier) is in order. If the player fails his save, he has 4 rounds to escape the pull of the magic or be trapped forever. His allies may assist him in "snapping out of it" by distracting him and tugging him away (DC X - previous requirement - +5 for each round of being hypnotized.) Physically pulling him away has no affect because he eventually turns incorpreal and becomes part of the mirror, seen outside as more of a painting than a piece of reflective glass. From that moment on, the players have 1 round to destroy the mirror or their friend is trapped for eternity. Once the round is up and if the glass is shattered, a freshly rotting corpse will fall out.

*Note: The first mirror in the hall will have no effect, as it is undoubtedly already occupied by an unlucky rogue. If this mirror is broken, use treasure reward as required for the skeletal corpse that falls out of the mirror.

4:Quintessence.
Quintessence makes for good traps in large quantities. Fill a pit with quintessence and anyone who falls in is effectively temporal stasised until they are physically removed from quintessence. Make a river or lake of the stuff maybe.
5: Or you could have a trap that drips quintessence. The PCs think its harmless water. 10 rounds after the "water" dripped on them they start taking 1 point of damage per glob per round.

Hate to double post, but i thought of a new one, and besides, :bump.
6: Spell turret. In the DMG2 you can find the spell turret, a magic trap that, basically, casts one spell every round, the 4th one is always 4d8+7 points of healing on itself, and the spells loop. A really evil combination is to put a spell turret at the end of a 120ft long (they activate from that far away), 5 ft wide coridor. Then have it cast summon monster to block the party's way, next turn summon monster to create a baddie with reach attacks, third round fire off some misc offensive spell. I find (i have experience with it, trust me), that disintegrate works really well in these circumstances. After all, the party can only have one melee guy thawcking the mosnters (5ft wide hallway), and between disintegrate and 2 mosnters, :evillaugh :evillaugh :evillaugh

Not exactly a trap but whatever did this one as a PC.. Get neer a really deep clif put blood and small peices of meat neer the end and add lubricant. Get a PC and teather him to somthing and have him shoot arrows or somthing at whatever you want to have go over the clif. When it glets close ready an action to jump off the clif.. hopfuly whatever it was was charging you and you'll be dangeling from the edg while its missing its balence check and falling.... Damn dire wolf got back up....

A fountain made of a decanter of endless water on stream, when people apprach the fountain and try to drink all the doors shut and the stream becomes a geyser and begins to fill up the room.

Let's see, that trap off of Order of the Stick...

And a personal favorite:

Anything that has an illusion involved. I had a group of PCs figure out that the bridge accross the pit was an illusion, they found the invisible bridge they are supposed to cross, and about half way accross, arrows started streaking accross the room. (only about 2 or 3 real ones at a time, but they saw 50+ because of the illusion...) Really freaks PCs out, those illusions...

My roommate just described this one to me:

Trapped item, a spyglass. PC picks it up and looks thru it, the view is fuzzy. Most will, quite naturally, attempt to adjust the focus. Twisting the barrel releases a spring-loaded spike right into the PC's eye. Throw in some poison if you want to be especially vicious.
