| jugglomo06-28-03, 03:52 PM | 3. A long dead king is resurected and now wants to retake the crwon from his great great.... grandson. The pcs can kill him or help him. (Can you post a link to the old topic?) |
| Jaerc06-28-03, 05:02 PM | Well I have a link to the (my) archived verion of the Old One. Hope that helps jugglomo |
| Chuko Liang06-28-03, 07:06 PM | While chasing down the main bad guy they get tossed into a portal to our own world sometime in history (for my campaign it was 217, 218 AD in China). They get embroiled in local politics (in this case a war of a million men fighting for three warring states) and search for a portal home. |
| Jaerc06-28-03, 10:55 PM | That was #4 (please dont forget to include the idea #) |
| Adriayna06-28-03, 11:38 PM | #5) Crap (literally) keeps falling from the sky into the middle of town square. Turns out that a wizard on a different plane opened a small portal to another plane to serve himself and his apprentices as a toilet. |
| Adrez Nesnsid07-01-03, 05:08 PM | bump |
| Wizard07-01-03, 11:06 PM | This is ripped off, but it's too cool to not mention. #6)Centuries ago, a god was killed in a titanic battle. Now, a cleric (who survived by being an elf\temporal stasis\imprisonment\wish to time travel\whatever) approaches the PC's and asks them for help in ressurrecting him. This stuff is definitely more than one adventure, though. |
| jugglomo07-02-03, 07:24 AM | When the players wake up one morning they find they're in a different place and are known as different people. Who are they? When they go to sleep they return to thier real world. whenever they go to sleep the wake up in the other world where they left off. Which is the real world and which is a dream? |

| Tzor07-02-03, 10:44 AM | 7) A item mysteriously appears in the party's hands. (One obvious way is for someone to bump ino the party holding the item and die right there on the spot, the cause of his death bing obvious to all and clearly not caused by the party.) Strange things start to happen to the party members, and it is discovered that the item is cursed. If the party tries to throw away the item it returns to its owner the next day. The only solution is to either have it stolen from them (thus transferring the curse) or to return the item to a secret temple from where it was originally stolen. |
| Wizard07-02-03, 04:20 PM | 8)One of the PC's is found to have divine blood. Unfortunately, a religion opposed to the PC's divine ancestor finds this out too, and declares war on the party.:smirk: |
| Mordenkainen's Rubber Duck of DOOM07-02-03, 04:46 PM | 9) The long presumed dead or slumbering race of Shinomen Naga (or Yuan-Ti i you don't use OA) allies itself with an army of shapechanger assasins and leads a rebellion against the [king, emporer, sultan, president, cool guy]. |
| Jaerc07-02-03, 05:03 PM | Qoute When the players wake up one morning they find they're in a different place and are known as different people. Who are they? That was really #7 ,so Tzors was#8, Wizards was #9 , and the ever helpful MRDDs was #10. So #11 is A wizards expirements have gone horribly(sp) wrong and he has unleashed a horde of micro oraganisms that can elvolve , and reproduce... did I mention they destroy anything in thier way? ( Hey I could use this on the ' spot the original adventure' thread :D ) |
| jugglomo07-04-03, 09:20 AM | Not really an adventure, more like an encounter. 12. there is another group of advnetrers in the same town/city as the players. a. They might meet at the entrance to the dungeon and have a race for the great treasure. If the other team gets it The PCs are sure to be pretty ****** off for a while. Or they could be getting to the dungeon right when the other team is getting out. b. The other team might be hired by the rival of the guy who hired the PCs. If he gets the item the PCs where out to get thier boss might have them retrieve it from his rival or the other team. c. If the PCs keep meeting them things could escalate to a fight between them. If both teams have followers and cohorts it can even become a gang war. |
| Jharviss07-05-03, 12:54 AM | 13) The PCs are robbed and notice, and they follow the crook the the thieves' guild hide out. Enter battle. |

| Kerric Drex08-01-03, 05:34 PM | Hehe- I started the old thread- happier days......... No the less I never got to say tahnks to everyone who posted on it, Cookies all round guys- thanx for your help. Now come along, lets start again and help this guy! (that was the credit where its due part ;) ) 16) (EPIC!!!!) The PC's witness the birth of a God, straight out of mother earth itself. However a baby's a baby and it has no comprehension of its power!!!!!!!!! 17) 15 years later the PC's meet the for-mentioned God in his teens, the female bard of the party may face "ahem" different challenges. |
| Toren Megoa08-01-03, 08:33 PM | 18)An ancient artifact is found while looting a dragons horde (or any type of Loot). This artifact is completely evil in every way and wants to take over the current posessor. Unfortunately the PC does not know it is evil and that it is simply a powerful magical item. Over the course of several months (or sessions) the PC is drawn even further into the artifacts grips of domination. Eventually during a great battle (or whatever event is very stressful) the Artifact finally takes control (through a will save or not) and goes against the other players. Will they have to fight, or maybe Kill their own Friend? Or will they find out about the evil artifact and try to destroy it? |
| Brumbleroot08-02-03, 12:53 AM | Not a original idea I guess, but it's sounds realy cool. Let the party start out from the bitter scratch as workers and famely of a quite huge farming famely. One day the famely farm is atacked by goblins. Since the farm is remote it is the perfect wictim for the goblins who raid ocationally. The goblins kill all of the famely members who where caught unaware at night, killing all of theyr caddle. Setting fire to theyr crops. The only survivors is the half orc kid/semi slave who found a good hiding spot for the eventual party members and himself just in time. (A little older than the others) Some months/years pass and they manage to get the farm up and going again after having strugled for food in the woods by hunting. Not nearly as effective as before, but enough to keep them from starving to death. They save up enough money to buy some weapons and necessary equipment to take revenge on the goblin tribe "enter name of known goblin tribe" here. But before that they have to seek combat knowledge of somone, since they've never even touched a sword or crossbow. Maybe joining a militia as privates or soemthing for some time, gaining a level. Let them start out on level -1 or something like that. This will make an interesting campaign because unlike other campaigns the party has to strugle for monney and strugle for survival. They will have to work REALY hard to earn theyr rep. around town. And let them start out with realy crappy weapons and gear. In my experience, party members get way to much GP to early, and magical items way to fast. And paying for the meals and stay at the innis just bothering because of the low prices. Let them entertain for a free stay and a meal at the inn. |
| Ack'noth Necrom08-02-03, 11:57 PM | I think this would start at #20 20) 12 mighty stones each holding immense magical power are found by a Kingdom. Half the stones are given to the neihboring Kingdom as a sign of friendship or to seal a peace treaty. 1 year later (or sooner) all the stones disappear without a trace, each country blaming the other war soon breaks out. The PCs become involved by accidently finding (or maybe stealing/inheritinig?) one of the stones, soon they are caught with it and become wanted men/women. Can the PCs escape and clear their names? maybe if they find the one who has/stole the other stones? This would be many adventures and ive already run it with 2 different groups, its truly an epic idea if you do it right. I called the adventure "The Zodiac Stones". 21) The royal court has recently gotten a new addition and the person has quickly gained much political power in the kingdom. In reality it is really a Demon/devil/Yugoloth in disguise and the PCs notice strange happenings that lead them to the truth. Can they remove this creature of evil? and can they do it without incuring the Monarchy's wrath? |
| Jagermeister08-03-03, 01:23 AM | I originally posted this one over on the Ravenloft board. "This is a pretty basic idea I guess, not completely fleshed out, but it sounded nice to me. I didn't include ways to connect the PCs to the plot, feel free to do so in accordance with your party. Comments welcome. Prereq: A town with a clocktower or something similar. When the clock passes each hour, it chimes/rings, echoing through the city streets. The PCs are somehow in this town (I'll leave that up to you). The town guard is completely perplexed by recent murders, two of which have happened prior to the PCs arrival in town. The victims of these murders have both been marked with a circular design upon their foreheads, each bearing two lines originating from the center of the circle. These lines are both different sizes, and are in different locations on each victim. Aside from that, the victims appear badly burned. One investigator has determined roughly the time of death for each victim, and has noted that the designs on the deceased bear a mysterious resemblance to a clock marked with the time of their death. (A PC investigating may make this connection on his/her own, rather than the NPC doing so). The first design and time of death appeared to be at precisely 9 in the evening. The second at 10 in the evening. The murders were spaced apart by one day. From that point on, the murders proceed with a day in between them up until seven people have been killed (and the hour of 3am has been reached). (Mark the victims with the time accordingly). Some of the victims are burned so badly that they are scarcely recognizable, though eventually they should all be noted as being members of the city watch who all share one thing in common (how you reveal this, I leave up to you): they were all somehow involved in investigating, capturing, slaying/arresting, and subsequently executing 8 witches, almost a year ago. These witches were burned at the stake, though one passed with a wretched curse upon her lips; that within a year of their passing, their foul fate would be revisited upon those deserving. In truth, these witches were victims of suspicious townsfolk, and had done nothing evil to cause their fate. They were humble alchemists perhaps. Innocent of evil at any rate. (gotta love the ignorance of a suspicious mob) One of the eight guardsmen involved in capturing and executing the eight witches has since gone mad with regret for his actions. Whether he is completing the curse of his own accord, or being prompted by supernatural means is up to you. At any rate, he intends to complete the curse by killing himself upon the hour of 4am after he has slain the last of the others involved. With that, the curse should be at an end (or the malevolent spirits could decide to visit more retribution on the suspicious townsfolk). (The time of the first death correlates to the hour in which the first witch was slain resisting arrest. The last hour correlates to the time of execution. The hasty arrest, trial, and execution were carried out within one night)" |
| Ack'noth Necrom08-03-03, 02:13 AM | Thats pretty nice Jagermeister i may use that next time i run Ravenloft. I thought of another though. 23) A druid driven insane by greif for his loved ones has found a way to restart all of life on Earth. Thinking that realeasing this ancient power he can bring his family/friends life again as the world is reborn. However he is incorrect, upon the completion of the ritiul all of earths life will be destroyed only to be reborn several thousand years later. A fellow druid (One of the PC?) happens upon this information and has a choice of letting the lives of earth be destroyed or allowing nature to restart and possibly preserving the balance? If he/she choses to stop the rebirth he must find the other druid and stop him or perhaps just prevent the ritual altogether. More to come later, take care peeps:D |

| Gandalf White08-27-03, 08:24 PM | BUMP I`m using this as bunches of adventures and campaigns The characters step on the toes of a mighty organization of thieves, assassins, noble lords, fighters, wizards etc. that have few things in common- 1.they respect the organization, and see it as their family. 2.They all want money and power no matter what it costs them(LE,LN). There are many "guilds" strewn accross the lands, and the characters first for some reason attack one of the guilds, and kill most of their soldiers, guards etc. and the current master wasn`t there, the whole organization views this as an insult and send different assassins to kill them off, unfortunately the PCs don`t know anything of this, and after some time they`re challenged by the master of the guildhouse they destroyed, when(if) they barely kill him, they`ll be having some time off from the guilds(accept few assassins),and will be doing something else, when lo and behold the guy comes back and wants revenge, now after you do all of this read the thread on making scary BBEGs,and watch your PCs be scared of the unknown,of the various guildmasters returning to life for the tenth time, each time getting more support from the others, and as an aftermath they might expose the organization to the world have a few more most bizzare fights against the most powerful guildmasters(celestials, powerful mages, and many other bizzare plane travelling creatures)on different bizzare and wierd planes(have you noticed that I said bizzare 3 times, that means ultra-bizzare). I want this thread to live!!! |

Of course the Dwarves took the treasure including four crystal rods out of four chambers. Now the mine is plagued by various size elementals and the PCs must return the rods to their rightful place in order to close the four-way gate at the end and of course battling various elementals along the way!! :) |
| DeWayne08-29-03, 01:35 AM | 27. While crossing the wilderness the party's cleric or paladin is approached by their patron God/Goddess in a dream. The deity tells them how to locate an ancient, abandoned temple and tells them to move a statue of the deity to the location of a newly built temple in another part of the kingdom. The statue is made of precious metals inlaid with gems and weights a couple of tons. How the party gets something that big, heavy & valuable across the country without it being damaged or stolen is their problem. |

| anshar08-29-03, 03:34 PM | (29) One that I've use a few times is this: While wandering from point A to point B, through lush, green terrain, the PCs begin to encounter large (100m in diameter or so) patches of barren, sandy desert. These regions have sharply defined boarders, making it pretty obvious they are not natural. Shortly thereafter, they encounter a NPC, preferably a druid or possibly a dryad or something similar. This NPC tells them how he/she witnessed one of these regions being formed and describes it thus: "Suddenly, everything in front of me began to wither and die. The animals dropped where they stood, birds fell from the sky. Then the plants began to wither and shrivel and everything began to decay. Within mere moments, the whole area became as you have seen." The NPC also tells the party of a mysterious obelisk, huge and featureless, that appeared one night in the woods shortly before the sandy circles began to form. He/she then begs the party to help save the forest by finding the source of the destruction and putting a stop to it. In reality, the obelisk is a wizard's tower. It is completely flat and featureless with no obvious means of entry or exit. The way in is through an underground passage that exits about a mile or so away. The wizard in the tower has found a way to enhance his/her magical abilities by draining the life force of everything around him/her and storing it. (I used small, glowing orbs that float around a large central chamber in the tower). I generally have had the NPC join the party and help them investigate at least at first. I allow the party to witness the formation of a circle by having them enter an area and feel an odd tingling. They make a reflex save to jump back out of the area and avoid being killed, but the NPC always fails. They may make a spot check to notice that high above, a small glowing orb is forming and growing brighter. When the area is completely dead, the orb zooms off toward the tower. The passage into the tower is filled with danger (of course) and the tower itself is infested with undead. The PCs must put an end to the evil wizard and if they destroy the orbs, the energy is released back to where it is from which it was taken. This will restore the damage done and the desolate areas become green once again. Sadly, the wizard does use one of the orbs to boost his/her power when fighting the PCs and the circle where the NPC was killed is never restored. Sorry, didn't mean to go on so long. Hope you enjoy it though. Edit: added entry number. |
| Bard_Vestress08-29-03, 05:32 PM | (30) The PCs have been told by a dragon (1000 years old +) that their friends and family will be distroyed by a race (new) which lives on a island which only rises every thousoned years to advenge their king (random) and the town the PCs live in is on top of the long lost kingdom. And the only way to send it is to gather some suicidle merceneries and go strait to the rising island and distroying the core of the evil new race. Never used it, but thinking of, but my PCs would be Lv10+. What do you lot think? |
| Xalxika08-29-03, 05:34 PM | 31.) There are evil NPC's setting out to find the Dragon Orbs so they may unleash the fury of the Dragons upon the earth. The PC's must find the Orbs before the NPC's and battle the ones whom find one or more before they do. Once they have all been collected, the PC's lock them away in a vault to never be found again (or at least not for very long). Dragons will reward them for this, and quite handsomly I would presume. Remember, though, that if a PC should use a Dragon Orb, even once, Dragons look upon them in anger, even if they willingly relenquished the Orb. This is probably and Epic adventure since the PC's may face a lot of strong Dragons. Xal |

| MagnaZero08-29-03, 10:30 PM | 33. In a dwarven mine, the miners dig to deep and come across an ancient tomb where the ancients sealed a powerful and ancient Dark lord (lich, demon, whatever,) and is ressurected. This Dark Lord creates a massive mysterious army seemingly out of thin air, and creates a private Stronghold for himself. The king launches war against the lord, and his forces are deciamted by the mysterious evil force. Th PC's (a group of ragtag mercernaries, adventurers, or something else,) are assigned to find out where this army is coming from, and if possible destroy the dark lord. When the PC's raid or sneak into his stronghold, they find out he has created a portal between diemensions to summon an immediate army. The PC's destroy the portals through magical means, and confront the dark lord to a final battle. |
| Emir10-20-03, 10:09 AM | 34) This idea works if you have at least one NPC in the party.... Make the party go through some Crypt or Graveyard (or something similar) and then make sure you throw out some Ghouls...The Ghouls will slay the NPC and after some time, that NPC will rise as a Ghoul , and the party seeks to bring him back...:smirk: |
| arrisnyte10-21-03, 01:55 AM | # 35) Sorry for the length. I got these ideas by borrowing bits and pieces from Wizard's archived Maps of the Week. The adventure is set thusly. Pick a town in your world (I typically play in FR, so Sembia works nicely) that is kinda creepy in and of itself. Put a large estate on the outskirts of town, up on a hill, or near a cliff. Situate the mansion in the center of the estate, with a moderate sized graveyard next to it. Surround it with decent sized glade of trees that are perpetually in their autumnal state: brown, crackly and dying. PCs may hear tales in the town of people who hold up in the house for the night. Wanderers, vagabonds, adventurers, etc. Most stay just inside the large foyer area inside the main doors, especially since no one ever hears from those who delve too deep... They say that those who survive told tales of furniture moving on its own, though never when looked upon. Brief glimpses of ghostly figures are seen before they fade from view again. The house has an eerie cold feeling to it. Regardless of how little light is used inside, tales speak of Silhouettes of wolves howling at blue lights coming from the house's windows. The Main parts of this adventure are the house itself, and the estate's three main inhabitants. The House is large, possibly the size of a small castle. Definitely luxurious for one family to have. It has somehow had an unhallow spell stretched to fit the entire house, and it is permanent. However, altering the magics in such a way has created a side effect. The Invisibility Purge tied to the Unhallow moves from room to room each minute (roll a die to determine where it goes next) Causing visitors to see images of previous inhabitants and reckless adventurers who have died before (Minor ghosts and specters). As for the House's three main presences, we'll start with the Ghost. Tailor it to the level of your game, but be sure it has a high Caster level for its Telekinesis (Some of that furniture is heavy, dude). The Ghost moves throughout the house, but cannot leave it, as it's remains still exist in this house, and must be buried properly. When any adventurers enter, he takes note of them, making guesses as to their classes and noting their races (For resistances). When it is an hour or so before Sunset, he pulls out all the stops to try and frighten off the PCs, shaking furniture, using his Frightful Presence and Moans, and even hurling objects at them if necessary. He's doing it to SCARE THEM OUT! The second presence is a powerful Vampire. The vampire took up residence in the house centuries ago as a traveler in a storm, and when the owners invited him in, he wasted no time in killing them. Tailor his class levels to suit your campaign, but I recommend at least 7 levels in either Cleric or Wiz(Necro) to give him plenty of cohorts form the nearby graves. (If a high level adventure, by all means add the True Necromancer prestige class. Or is that just me being mean to my PCs?) All the ghosts and spectres in the house were in some way or shape made by this creature's rampant killing spree. As soon as anyone steps foot inside the house, he is aware of it (even during the day) and he waits eagerly for his chance. He rarely strikes in the open, preferring to draw a PC away from the rest of the group, or otherwise confuse them. The third presence is a bit challenging, but worth it. This is a rider in the forests of the estate. He was a Paladin in Life, and undertook a quest to slay the foul undead of the house. Sadly, the vampire killed him, and took great pleasure in doing so, impaling the Paladin's head upon a spike in his private quarters and hurling the rest of the body out into the woods. When he rose (As a Ghost, wraith-like creature, whatever you decide) he was without head, and forever barred from entering the house. He sees any who leave the house after encountering the vampire (or even learning of him) as cowards and attacks them on site. The only way to lay this valiant warrior to rest is to not only slay the Vampire in the house, but to also find his hidden sanctuary and remove the Paladin's skull, and bury it with the rest of his bones (If the PCs have earned it, let the Ghostly rider lead them to his headless remains. If they've barely coasted through this adventure, then the rider only knows his bones to be n the woods, he doesn't know where exactly) Kinda suitable given the Halloween Season. (EDIT: Posted the idea number. Sorry about that Ack'noth, but I'm one of those people that needs to get something down before I forget it) |
| Ack'noth Necrom10-21-03, 04:41 AM | Epic idea here 36?) The PCs are sent to hell via an area effect damnation spell (see the Epic book) they can not leave for 20 hours and must survive untill then. And even if they live through those 20 hours they must find their own way out! But the kicker is they land right in the stronghold of one of the archdevils such as Bel. |

After some investagation they discover that a Morkoth has been dragging them beneath the waves for food. They now face a difficult dilemma...how kill the beast? 38) A treasure has been stolen from a trade caravan and the theif ran off into the forest. The PC become involved by riding up on the caravan or possibly guarding it. After following the person they find him dead in front of a cave entrance (Killed by the trap door spiders by his body  ). When the body is searched they dont find the treasure but notice footprints leading into the cave full of Myconids! 39) (High level) the PCs have lost contact with friends/family in a secluded town and go to investigate. Upon their arrival they find all the people are dead and their bodies look as if they have been eaten. Upon further investigation they find footprints leading toward the next town and leave to find the survivor/murderer. The creature responsible is in fact a Famine Spirit possibly with a large company of ghouls. It then becomes a race against time if they find evidance to support the truth in the city. 40) (Epic) An ancient shadow Dragon Divine agent of a now dead deity has awoken from his long slumber. Finding out that his lord is now slain from centuries past he takes measures to resserect his god. But to do so he will need a person that is a freind/family of the PCs for a sacrifice. After claiming them to make the person more obidient to his whims he uses a domination spell and converts him/her into a cleric of the same god. He leaves to prepare the sacrificial chambers and recite the proper enchantments leaving the new cleric to do their new gods will. the PCs learn of the plot and must try to bring the new cleric to their senses or kill them. More to come eventually |

After killing the animal(s), the pc continue on their journey, only problem is that the animal(s) was a animal companion of a mid-level chaotic nuetral druid with acess to the polymorph other spell and wants revenge for his animals. In the night The druid use a animal shape to move in silently and uses thus said spell. Want till morning and chaos ensues  . This can be alot of fun so you decide how they get back to their normal forms.:D . Man I didn't think I could come up with one so annoying. Btw i plan to use this one! |

| Lindan10-30-03, 10:37 AM | #49 In any town. PCs walking down a street, homes all around. Thunder storm starts, no rain yet, just got dark, loud crack of thunder right over head. Come across a little girl who is crying. She says that her kitten is stuck up a tree. She looks up at the Paladin/knight(LG) and says, "Please sir, Fluff is so scared, and I miss him so!" Looks at knight with big, blue, sad eyes. Looking up in to the tree, on the lowest branch, 25' up, is a small white kitten. The kitten looks at you, big green eyes, and goes "mew". How do the PCs get the kitten down, without killing anyone, or causeing to much damage. After a few minutes, let it rain, this will make the harder, and the little girl sader. Did this in a non-D&D game, its good for a laugh, watching the PCs fight with a small, wet, scared, little fluffy kitten. They belived the girl was a wizard(evil) and her pet demon, in disguise. |
| Old French Admiral10-30-03, 07:16 PM | #50: Use the Gutpuppet from the Monster Mayhem section for this one. On the PCs' way out of town (preferably after having killed someone in a bar fight or something), have them encounter a large, bloated man bathed in sweat (the Gutpuppet) silently walking down the road to the town. Make sure that the PCs don't fight it, it MUST reach the town. While the PCs are out killing things (or doing whatever they do), the Gutpuppet finds a couple fresh dead bodies in which to spawn. Over the course of a few days (while the PCs are still out adventuring), the gutpuppets have multiplied and wiped out the town. So, when the party comes back to town, they see the populace walking around all bloated ans sweaty. |
| hivemind[MVGC]10-30-03, 08:11 PM | Hrm... Some Forgotten Realms stuff I'm doing (or am gonna do soon): #51: Next time a PC gets killed, get him reincarnated as a Drow. :) #52: PCs are hired to do security for a construction project - an immense canal from Proskur to Iriaebor / Easting. Who knows what'll be dug up?... #53: An evil spellcaster of some flavor is dredging and filtering the Winding Water downstream of the bridge for the essence of Bhaal. #54: A Tanarukk army is on the move, led by a Demon Prince (or a paragon Tanarukk). Give 'em some cavalry on fiendish dire boars for extra spicyness. :D #55: Eh, here's a long one. Have the PCs get hired by a Thayan enclave to apprehend a thief. PCs discover the thief is actually a chaotic evil werewolf / ranger. He's gotta be brought back alive though, or no reward. Thayans take custody of the thief, and reward the PCs. Although the lead wizard guys looks a little creepy, and would only meet with the PCs at night... [Behind the scenes step] The head Red Wizard is actually a vampire spellcaster. He decides that he's gonna make the ranger a thrall. Something goes wrong - the werewolf is too strong and escapes after a fight. Of course, he WAS bitten by the vampire wizard first... Townsfolk start getting killed. Horribly. Naturally, the PCs will investigate. If they don't, have the werevampire-ranger-guy kill their horses or something. The PCs chase down the ranger, but find him fighting the Thayan vampire. A mad melee ensues... Take it from there. In my game, this all happened in Suzail, capital of Cormyr. As Cormyr is a cash-strapped nation, they're pretty permissive right now towards the Red Wizards, since they generate a lot of revenue for the kingdom. Doesn't mean they like them though. It's got a lot of potential for politics and roleplaying, as well as some knock-down-drag-out fights. We had fun with it. :) And yes, I've shamelessly stolen the hybrid idea after seeing Underworld. Go ahead - make an NPC, then apply a lycanthrope template, then apply a vampire template to that. It's a really big dumb nasty. |

The Jewish celebrate Haunikah, Kwanza is celebrated.... It's Midwinter for Wicca... And many athiests celebrate the holiday as well (at least indirectly. We all take a few weeks off from school if we're in school, don't we? And most of us give gifts to family/freinds). As a side note, the Forgotten Realms setting has Midwinter Fest, and most other settings have something close to it. Besides, who says having a Christmas spoof is religious? South Park's Christmas special last year was pretty darn funny. :D And about every show has a Christmas special, but who says those have to be religious? Too Star Wars? Okay, maybe. Too Modern? You seem to be forgetting flintlock pistols (and you can easily change it to bows/crossbows. This one is a bit obvious.) |

And many athiests celebrate the holiday as well (at least indirectly. We all take a few weeks off from school if we're in school, don't we?). First of all, you have majorly misspelled the jewish holiday. Also, the muslim calendaris completely lunar without leap year, so the time of Ramadan changes(and btw, it's a month long). Regardless, in neither Oerth nor Faerun have people ever heard the word christmas. But shieldmeet(sort of like the bloom of spring holiday) is celebrated faerun-wide. |
| crasmer11-02-03, 11:47 AM | 62) For high levels: dont have any books so if I misspell any persons name or otherwise dont get the " times of trouble" story right. + my english is kinda bad so spare with me The backbone of the campaign: Bane has recently arisen since his diminish and is back as a god of trembling power. His right hand, Fzoul, sitting is his blackened keep ( zhentarim?) knows this. Bane tells Fzoul of his new devilish plan which is to recreate the times of trouble and together they plan for a time where gods once again will walk as mortals. To recreate TOT Bane made, when he walked the mortal realm under TOT, an artifact ( resembling his symbol, a bony hand) of immense power. This artifact had a fraction( but enough to make it work) of the same power as the artifact stolen in those days of times of trouble had....( cant remember the artifacts name ) which caused TOT. SO this artifact Bane made has the power to recreate TOT through an all grand ritual. Ofcourse noone will know what is going on, thus he commands Fzoul to handle the following in descretion: find the artifact, alas is was split up in five pieces ( 1 piece = 1 finger) after TOT and spread across some area. Furthermore Fzoul must summon as many as possible( mercenaries, adventures, evil men etc.etc.) to hunt and kill the gods, once they take mortal form. ANd protect Bane. And he must ofcourse prepare for the ritual.( when i played the campaign the ritual took place in castle Crag in the heartlands). Purpose for all this: total chaos, many gods will perish leaving open domains, Banes revenge on the ones killing him and the ones taking his domains. There are probably many other (better) reasons, but just to note a few. The PCs role: Stop it All ( duh). There are different angles to approach this: 1) through other smaller adventures they get more and more direct or not so direct information (letters, in connection with some smaller adventure, they capture or kills some of Fzoul lackeys etc.etc) about this mighty artifact, bane created. At some point the PCS will understand that this artifact is indeed powerful and that it must be found before evil men find it, if not some greater doom shall occur. The hunt is on for the pieces of the artifact. Where the pieces are could be a whole chapter in its own right (for instance one piece belonged to an entrapped demon living in a forgotten tomb under the earth ). When all the pieces have been found ( Fzoul found 3 fingers, and the party 2 fingers, when i ran it). The heroes must be guided somehow ( cant remember how I did it) to castle Crag, where all the pieces will come together......... Fzoul thanks the party for collecting them and now demands the party to hand them over...........the descision is up to the party....evil or good? anyway my players chose goodness and Fzoul escapes(after a tough struggle), leaving some beholders and guards for the party to have fun with. The plan has been foiled. Consequenses: Forever will Bane and his followers ( especially Fzoul) remember the party..... and so far the party I still play with knows how shi¤%¤ it can be having a god and his followers as an enemy.... 2) I chose approach number 1), but I think this would also work: The party gets recruited by Fzoul and thereby learns what bane is up to. Now they must make the descision to fight against him someway or play along (evil party). PS: This is just how the campaign more or less were played the time I made it and is ofcourse only a guide ( to get ideas) for a campaign. |

It turns out a new mine is discovered and a boom town has begun to spring up. Unfortunately, construction has halted because workers are disappering in the night, or walking off to explore the area/find firewood/take a leak and never coming back. Turns out, a high level druid and his powerful animal companion are attacking the workers; as the town grows, the forests are starting to dwindle. 65. The PCs have been requested to appear at a wizards home under the presumption that the wizard has a quest for them. They arrive at a filthy hovel the mage neglects due to his long hours of study. After some dialogue, the wizard deems them unworthy and asks them to prove their prowess. So, he casts a spell that he has researched called 'miniturize'--which shrinks the PCs to a height of 2 inches or so-- and tells them they have to make it up stairs to his labratory to prove their worthiness. After being attacked by "Giant" cockroaches and rats, their biggest fear has not yet been realized--the wizards feline familiar. |

So the adventurers are asked to "infiltrate" the academy. (This might be hard job for fighter or babarians, but a funny time for the party wizard. Regular rat swarms, ash rats crawling in the blacksmith's forge, giant rats etc. It turns out that a madman (I made him a bard) living in the sewers is summoning them to cause havoc in the town above. The sewers are infested with different types of rats, traps and caltrops. It turns out that the Ratman (as he calls himself) is working for someone else who wants to cause havoc all over the world. This man has invented a "new god" and recruits the teenagers of the town to become part of his cult. While they are there, he trains them to be assassins ("brothers") who can get close to high ranking officials and kill them. To offset the guilt caused by the killings, the cult leader has the assassins sleep with the "sisters" who have the power to remove their sins. After cheating, as my PCs seem to like doing a lot, they are chased through the streets of a city by the loser's hired thugs. This still works even if the PCs don't cheat, as no one likes to lose. #73 After being captured by the BBEG, his chief lieutenant challenges the most dangerous looking PC fighter or barbarian to single combat in an arena rather than simply just kill them. PCs must work out a way to either escape, or defeat the enemy in combat. #74 During a sea voyage, the victim of a shipwreck is rescued. This shipwrecked person is actually an assassin on his way to kill the person the PCs are travelling to meet, and after meeting the PCs decides to frame them. Assassin befriends the PCs and assists them in several adventures, all the while planning his eventual betrayal. #75 PC loot the tomb of an ancient giant king and make off with valuable artefacts. A day or two later the spirt of the giant king rises from the dead and chases after the PCs seeking his lost treasures. #76 PCs have arrived in a new unfamiliar land, perhaps as a result of a sea voyage (see #74 above). While wandering the streets they see a slave being beaten by two men and step into help. The two men are guards working for the BBEG who runs the city/kingdom and helping the slave has suddenly put the PCs on the wrong side of the law through no fault of their own. #77 Retrieving a powerful magical item from a ruined castle, the PCs encounter another adventuring party who demand the item. They fight and the other adventuring party is killed. The PC head on their away, completely unaware that the leader of the other party was the daughter of a very important and powerful wizard and he had been scrying the groups activities. Over the next several gaming sessions, the PC are continually attacked at odd times by groups of hired goons out to kill or capture them, but they will likely not realise why. Meanwhile, the wizard has his daughter and her companions ressurrected... #78 The PCs find a jar filled with human and elven eyes. For some reason they keep the eyes, and then two gaming sessions later they discover a door with symbols of eyes on it and, in front of the door, an alter with a whole in the centre for sacrificies. Remembering the jar of eyes, one of the PCs tips the eyes into the sacrifice hole, opening the door and at the same time releasing a many-eyed fiend who proceeds to lay waste the PCs party, forcing them to flee rather quickly. |

They are taken to a village where they are sold as slaves to the village ruler/elder/monk/whatever. --You can go from there on your own or do as I did.... The monk in the great monastary in the center of town is the "great ruler" I guess of the village. Everyone in the village are his slaves that actually lead normal lives, but just cannot leave the city walls. He claims he is really a better master for them than who the pirates used to sell the slaves at a lower price to before he started bidding higher. He says he gives every person a chance to prove they can finish three tasks, (all of which are based on each characters race and class and in the end is meant as training in that class, but also helps him out, like I had a rogue steal for him from one of his own slaves in his village." Upon completeion of the three tasks, that is there completion of duty for their service as a slave and they are free to go, if they do not complete all three ever, they do not leave ever... | Lazzmaniandevil04-24-05, 10:38 AM | 83. A high astrologer, or a diviner of some sort, has found a very special item: an amulet that let him see glimpses of the future in his dreams. He sees the item as a gift from his god, and use it to make predictions that always come true. This has given him a great reputation as someone who can predict the future, and he was recently hired by the king to be his personal advisor. However, the real reason why his predictions always come true is that the item actually makes them come true! Once per week, the item actually sends some random dream into the wearer's mind, usually about something evil that is going to happen. Unknown to the wearer, the amulet is magically linked to 10 rings. At the same time that the "prediction dream" is sent to the wearer, the amulet also sends suggestion spells to whoever are wearing the rings, in order to make the prediction come true. For exemple, the amulet could send its wearer a dream about the country being devastated by famine, and send the ring wearers suggestions to burn their harvest, or send a dream about an upcoming diplomatic conflict and send suggestions of sending insult letters to the king of a nearby country. The rings looks like rings of protection +3, and they actually have this effect during the day. However, anyone who has been wearing one of those rings for a minimum of 8 hours during the day suffer a -10 penalty to will saves and wisdom checks during their sleep, as per the spell mind fog, making it very difficult to resist the suggestion dream. Furthermore, 24 hours after the suggestion, the ring wearer are affected by a modify memory spell that erase any trace of their suggested actions in their minds. Possible hooks: the PCs may have found one of the ring, they could have been hired by the former advisor to the king who believes there's something suspicious about the new advisor's predictions, or they could see one of the ring wearers do something that was suggested to him and then complain about the results the next day like he doesn't know what happened. 84. | Lennart06-25-05, 07:08 PM | #85 The PC’s fiend this old ring. It identifies as (watch the subtle difference) Ring of THE troll regeneration. Once upon a time a group of adventures defeated the first troll. Or so every body thinks. He was killed in the shop of a gold smith and a tiny bit of flesh didn’t burn and was trapped in the ring. If its wearer is harmed the wound is regenerated by troll flesh. The theory is that troll’s reproduce by amputation. But we all know that a copy of a copy of a copy is trash So this is a huge strong troll, you know the kind of troll young dragons check under there hoard for before they go to sleep. (And the reason young dragons don’t sleep like 100 years) Options. 1 every HP regenerated by the ring is kept aside. And if the wearer has lost as many hit points as his total the uber troll has enough power to take over his body. 2 take off the finger: when the finger is cut off it disappears and will in time grow in to the uber troll and need’s to devour the ring wearer to regain its full powers. | Obsidianjaerc08-28-06, 03:05 PM | Why I had quite forgotten this thread. As an homage to the new boards I'm bumping it and sadly informing you all that my first major project. The original 1001 Adventure Ideas circa 3/03 has not survived this final boards change. 94) At the end of an dungeon/tomb/etc. in the trasure/lair/etc. a single coin touched opens a portal to the Abyss. It begins coin-sized but slowly and seemingly unstopably begins to grow. The PCs must find a way to stop it or get get help before, at the very least their loot is stolen and at the most the world is taken by a Demon Atrocity. |

In a dwarven kingdom, a magical statue has the power to automatically assume the appearence of the heir to the throne. Now that the king has died, everybody is gathered in the town square and waiting for the statue to take on the appearence of the king's son. The statue starts to change and assume the appearence of a...half-dwarf...half-elf! Did someone played a bad joke and messed with the statue magic ? Or did the king had a secret liaison with a female elf ? It's up to the PCs to find out! |
| Stolide08-28-06, 09:05 PM | I'm not sure how original this is but if you give a party of new players(or inexperienced depending on your group) a singal wish they will most certainly mess it up. This can creat a whole seris of events to fix their mistake. The first time I did this humans became slave to demon overlords that controlled the material plane. eventually they formed an underground organization and overthrew the demons but the world was never the same after that! I also have a house rule that a wish can be no more than two sentances long so that a wish always has potential for mishap. |

| HerbalTea11-17-06, 09:34 AM | 98. Gnolls frequently attack the town the PCs are currently in for reasons that are attached to the mayor. The specifics of which are unknown, however. The attacks primarily occur because of the incredibly remote location of the town and how it is rarely visited by the national guard quarterly patrols (and the fact that the town's exports are not particularly valuable) - so the poor quality town watch have to try and defend the place by themselves. Around 50-75 gnolls are in a typical raid force, the town watch outnumber them 4-1 but are not very accomplished warriors. The last attack was one week ago and the town is repairing minor damages. The next attack is due in three weeks but riots can be heard at the main gates when the PCs are settling down for the night in a popular tavern near the centre of the town... |
