JKnight 04-04-05, 01:00 PM	Well, I noticed the other thread about lame backgrounds, and was amazed at seeing how many people have posted on it. It also amazed me that quite a few of the lame backgrounds were exactly the same. Apparently groups all over the world are working with the same lameness, huh? It's like an amazing pop culture phenomenon, the way everyone keeps coming up with the same two cent ideas. So, I started thinking, heck, wouldn't it be nice to see some of the better stuff? I for one would like to see some of the prouder moments of the DM's here. Anyone want to show off any of their PC's? JK

Then he started to hear stories about a great hero in the south. The exploits of this hero, Peirce, were being told over and over, each story seeming more fantastic than the last. Jerid was immediately fascinated. He packed his few belongings and set out to find the great hero and help or, if unable to find him, to be just like him.
olshanski_home 04-04-05, 01:48 PM	Please, Please, Please: We already have 1001 good character backrounds/archetypes/stuff you'd LIKE to see again (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=398842) I created a 1001 Master List (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=399850) in order to stop the prolifieration of 1001 lists that are cluttering the boards. If you want to compile the other 1001 list into a discreet set of good backgrounds, and get rid of congradulatory posts, fluff posts, or off-topic posts, I'd be glad to see it! I'd remove the other 1001 list and make the new one the "prime" list. Please do not post on this new thread when we already have one.

You never know what will attract a potential replier. I read the other thread topic form its title as being for Good characters, as in alignment. I support this thread and wish to see it prosper. That being typed... 2) I was raised in a small village of no really note. My parents worked hard all of their lives, my mother as a baker and my father as a tailor. My uncle served in the local malitia and got my into it when I was around 13 or so. I found that I was good with an axe and enjoyed the idea of defending others. WHen I was old enough and had saved up some money I left town, witht he blessing of my parents, with a group of my childhood friends to see what the world had to offer us.

JKnight 04-04-05, 11:02 PM	Thanks for the replies. I understand the desire to not have posts repeated, 'cause it gets boring scanning through them... but c'mon. Give a guy a break. A couple of the replies to this seem snobbish, and frankly, elitist. So. Someone hasn't been here long enough to see all of the threads on this forum. Imagine that. I understand there is a compiled list of top 1001, but honestly, who wants to cycle through all of that? I don't have the time to read all of the new posts on this site, much less the old ones too. There are a lot of people on this site, fairly constantly. I've never seen this board empty, as a matter of fact. I'm relatively new to this site, sure. Is there a desire to see new posters here? If so, bear in mind that no one wants seniority lorded over their heads. A suggestion on a solution for the good scholars who do not want to re-post on old topics--skip them. Or, if your heart propels you to answer anyway, just give a polite link. Solves the problem. Now I can understand a little more when there was a post last week about the very same thing; especially when that post happens to be on the second page of the forum. Then I agree. A new thread is just clear evidence that the poster wasn't paying attention to anything other than his/her question. So. In other words, does the code of conduct insist that repeated posts never happen? If not, then ask, don't tell. Then everybody gets along a little better. JK
