However, when any weight over 50 lb. is dropped into the pool it immediately begins to harden, and become glue-like. Eventually, it will harden to rock like consistency. This can be overcome, by first dropping one of the heavy urns in the water. Then after waiting a bit, players can easily walk across. |
| SirPudding07-07-07, 11:32 PM | 2. I'll just throw a few riddles at you. Fifty is my first Nothing is my second five is my third my fourth a vowel reckoned To know who I am, just put my parts together I die when I grow cold, But I never fear foul weather What can go up a chimney down but not down a chimney up? The dead eat it the poor have it the rich need it the blind see it the mute speak it Message me for answers or clues but they are pretty obvious. 3. My party once encountered a maze with the clues amounting to something like Right, Right Left Right Left Left Right. Turned it wasn't the directions to take but part of the code of a combination lock at the end. We went to so may dead ends 4. In a upcoming adventure the players have to navigate a maze with the clue being "Follow your heart" Literally, the only way to traverse the shifting maze is to keep taking left turns (Heart being on the left side of one's chest) 5. If you really want to watch the PCs squirm have them solve a puzzle with a time limit (Rising water, falling sand, lowering ceiling) Some tiles must be placed in the correct order but the symbols on them are actually letters or numbers altered to look weird (Mirrored or hidden in a pattern) yes I stole this from a stargate episode sue me Cool thread, lets keep it going! |
| omegagod0807-08-07, 12:13 AM | I dont know if you know this, but there is a book devoted to this. Book of Challenges. Anyhow, i got 1. The Valley Of the Green Grass Trolls PC are in the woods at some point, a bunch of trolls (preferably War Trolls) pop up all around them. They form a spear ring around them, and say "WE are very particular here in the Green Grass Valley. Very particular in our likes and dislikes. We like trolls, but hate giants and orges. You may ask us if we like something, and we will give you the true answer. If you cannot tell us something that we like and something that we dislike (neither of which can already have been mentioned), we will let you stay with us. If you cannot do this, you will be banished from this wood." Then you allow them to ask a number of questions, depends on how smart ur party is. They like things with a double letter in them. Like grEEn, graSS, troLLs, and vaLLeys. They would not like anything else. This can lead to contradictions. Very confusing to PCs. They like wOOds and trEEs but hate plants. Stumped my party. |
| Darth Syntax07-08-07, 01:07 AM | The Exeter Book contains some excellent examples of riddles (although some are rather bawdy seeming to post on the board). Here are some Anglo-Saxon riddles rendered in modern English (If you want the answers let me know) A wonderful warrior exists on earth. Two dumb creatures make him grow bright between them. Enemies use him against one another. His strength is fierce but a woman can tame him. He will meekly serve both men and women If they know the trick of looking after him And feeding him properly. He makes people happy. He makes their lives better. But if they let him grow proud This ungrateful friend soon turns against them. I was abandoned by my mother and father. I wasn't yet breathing. A kind woman covered me with clothes, Kept me and looked after me, Cuddled me as close as if I had been her own child. Under that covering I grew and grew. I was unkind to my adopted brothers and sisters. This lovely woman fed me Until I was big enough to set out on my own. She had fewer of her own dear sons and daughters because she did so. |
| Peregrine_Wolf07-08-07, 02:38 AM | Try some of the stuff in the Zelda games.....just tweak a bit if your PC's play it. Also, I have a riddle from PoR RoMD A quest for love ends with me Yet I am made endlessly When I drop, I say my name When I touch rock, freedom gain They gotta touch the rock that someone is trapped in with a ring..... Also for riddles, look into The Hobbit at the part where Biblbo has the riddle contest with Gollum. |
| Comus07-08-07, 02:55 AM | Syntax: The first one's Fire, I think. The second one, though. Hm. Some kind of parasite? |
| Darth Syntax07-08-07, 03:21 AM | You're right abut the first one I'll give you a hint as to the second: it is a species of bird |
| SirPudding07-11-07, 06:06 PM | A cuckoo? |
| Darth Syntax07-12-07, 02:50 AM | We have a winner folks. The second riddle does indeed refer to a cuckoo. |
| Meat_Shield07-12-07, 09:57 PM | Here's one from a very old computer game. Though she is dead I continue to beat on her. Plus I wanted to bump this cause I like the thread. |
