The PC's enter a room with two stone doors (One on either side) that immediately slam shut as soon as the last PC is inside. After failing to open the doors (and after a few spot checks) the PC's find a number of iron rods arranged on a wall in this configuration: ._ ._ ._ |_|_|_| |_|_| and an inscription that reads "Take three, leave three" The riddle is a takeoff of the famous matchstick puzzle, and is basically saying "Take away three rods to leave only three squares: ._ ...._ |_|_|_| ...|_| |

The idea is the lines aren't confined to the dot grid (kind of hard to show in ASCII characters). The top line extents out to the right a bit. The left line extends out the bottom. A thrid line conntects those two (hitting the bottom center, and right center dots), and the fourth line goes from the top left to the bottom right. ____ |\/ |/x | |

Once opened the door instantly slams shut, and a voice says, you wern't invited here. They'll keep trying to open the door, but it won't. The key is, to open the door, you must physically knock on the door. |

The problem is that each of them is leaving a trail of different coloured footprints...and it remains permanent with the boots or barefeet they walked through the puddle with. They must walk backwards through every step to put the colour back into the puddle of water. |
