| rabbidhorriddireweasel03-26-07, 12:03 AM | Ok so one time, In one of my friends campaigns we met this Druid, or so we thought. He was a cleric and sentinel of Bureai (I think thats how its spelled.) He had a wyveren as a pet, and he could change shape into a polar bear, both of which we as the PCs and in our characters (except for the monk and the rouge) didnt know he could do. So one time us the party had to leave a mountain range and enter into a forest. The PC playing the sentenil of Bureai had to leave saying that he was going to scout the area. So he left and took off on his wyvern, though we didnt see him take off. Apparently he saw a massive swarm of spiders and took off tworards us to warn us. HE jumped off his wyvern and changed into a polar bear. Then he cast luminous armor while he was in the air. Now he was a glowing polar bear. He landed right infront of the party and the two characters that knew who this bear really was jumped on its back and the polar bear ran away. Basicly the expresions on our faces was :uh-huh:. A giant glowing polar bear falls from the sky, and two of our party members jump on its back and it runs off. WTF! :uh-huh: |
| Imatash03-26-07, 12:37 AM | A few years back in the same campaign we still play....... The party having just ransacked most of an old forgotten castle are trying to leave, with their wounded, their rescued prisoners (two damsels) and their hard earned loot. They have lowered a rope of 50 feet down a 60 foot window all dropping the 10 feet or so to land. They lowered all of the loot the wounded and most of the party. The Barbarian is now lowering the Dwarven fighter down next while the Ranger stands watch. As the Dwarf begins his descent the Wight of the castle finally appears on the scene (a six on my lucky DM random encounter roll). The Ranger engages the Wight yelling at the Barbarian a warning, but when the Ranger misses the Barbarian states he draws his sword and also attacks.....letting go of the rope....the Dwarf falls to his near death. The Ranger and Barbarian with a good deal of luck defeat the Wight. The Barbarian, to atone for his poor decision or any charges of cowardice, tries his hand at climbing down. He makes it down, gets the rope and as he climbs back up slips halfway up the cliff face. As the party tries to heal him since he is under 0 and dying one character decides to check the Barbarian's pack on his back for a healing potion. He finds........ 50 feet of rope! WTF! Remember Player Characters die....:) Imatash |
| bobothechimp03-26-07, 12:51 AM | A player had a fairly nice, but old house. In this house, he had an orc guest and a hole in the floor. This orc happened to be a god. The hole happened to contain frost wurms. When I entered the house, the frost wurm was just getting out of the hole. I see the orc pull out a rusty dagger then a flash of light as the entire universe is torn asunder and repaired. |
| rabbidhorriddireweasel03-26-07, 12:54 AM | WTF? |
| Imatash03-26-07, 02:14 AM | As a Half- Elven Duelist in a dungeon the Party and I encountered a major Demon standing in a brightly glowing pentacle. He said he only wanted to talk to me and no one else. I approached and he whispered, "I drew the pentacle myself." WTF Remember Player Characters die....:) Imatash |
| rabbidhorriddireweasel03-26-07, 08:00 AM | Come on people lets keep them coming, there are more WTF scenes out their! |
| Bafaap03-26-07, 12:28 PM | This is not a wtf player scene, but more a wtf npc scene. We were send on a mission to destroy the enemy fleet, we had a week to prepare and after that, the army would be finished building our boat, so we could attack the fleet. But instead we gathered some intell, got a striketeam, went to the defensive tower in the enemy's city and used it to destroy the fleet, shoot some rocks into the harbour, shoot at the evil boss' house and then we fled to an island somewhere in the middle between our en their city, that was also captured by the enemy (we had to go there because we came to the tower using a portal and the striketeam was garding the portal but the gave a sign to the other end that they'd better shut it down becaus they were under attack) we left the striketeam there, walked a day over water, went to our tower, got the strike team back using the portals again and went back to our boss without losing a single man during the process. But we did lose half our party during a simple reconnaissance mission. He said: you're ship is ready in two days, if you've finished your preparation, you can take these days off. We: Well, we already destroyed the fleet, blocked thier harbour, shot at the big boss' house, fought an entire army and went back to get the striketeam out. He: WTF?! |
| Sajek03-26-07, 01:57 PM | #64 The Hairy Nude Thing This isn't a trap so much as it doesn't do damage but is good for comic relief after they've been pounded on by all these other traps and assorted bad guys. They come into a hallway 240 feet long and straight ahead of them. It is very well lit with torches or magic and there is a door at the far end, easiliy visible from this end. As they hit about 120 ft. in, the door they are facing bursts open and a 3'tall hairy creature rather like a longer legged, bipedal oragutan come careening toward them at a movement of 24. It runs through the party at velocity, screaming unitelligibly, and flees out of the door they just left, slamming it behnd him. The typical response from the party is "What the heck was that!?". To which you say, with as straight a face as you can, "That...was a hairy nude thing." Hate to quote myself, but... 576. WTF Mate!? The PCs come to a heavy iron door. A calm, serene face with its eyes closed protrudes from it at head level. As soon as someone turns the handle, the face's eyes pop open, its mouth opens, and it screams incredibly loudly for one round. It eyes and mouth then close and it is once again serene and calm. The scream does no damage and does not serve as an alarm, it is only to freak out the PCs. |
| GingerbreadMan03-26-07, 03:30 PM | 4 of my PC's (Powerfull Lvl 11's) reached a 20ft wide, 200ft long hallway at the end sat 2 spell turrets blasting away with fireballs and Lightning Bolts. The party sends in the rogue who successfully reflexes every blast. Unfortunately, about halfway through the hallway (which was litered with debris to slow his movement) sat 2, 11 Headed Hydras - one cryo one pyro- in recessed areas. The rogue stepped in front of this intersection of doom, and proceeded to get blasted by 66d6 of damage, 33d6 cold 33d6 fire. Needless to say his expression was priceless :D |
| rabbidhorriddireweasel03-26-07, 07:51 PM | Lol, WTF! |
| Onikani03-26-07, 08:14 PM | i put my Pc's against a troll. He attacked them at dusk as tehy were setting up camp. Like good pc's they brought him to negatives by pummeling him, then covered him in oil and lite him up (without searching the body). the mini bon fire burned for a good five minutes and the pc's, content, walk away and contiue setting up their camp. Imagine their suprise when the troll got up, the fire's out, and he ran at them, full HP for a second round. Had they taken 6 seconds to search him they would have seen he was wearing a golden ring. A ring of Fire resistance. :D |
| Khan200003-26-07, 11:34 PM | Got two situations.... 1. The party, with high-level NPC, are before ogre mage with class levels. High-level NPC proceeds to kill ogre mage with one blow. 2. Gnomish rogue and sidekicks (a satyr and a halfling, if I remember) go and talk to Main Villian--a Rakshasa. Main Villian has several Githyanki bodyguards. Gnomish rogue and friends get behind some cover and throw explosives at Main Villian and friends. Only bad guy left standing is Rakshasa with singed fur. |
| OmNefarious03-27-07, 04:02 PM | Im in a campaign where I am a LG Aasimar/Half-Celestial Paladin/Cleric/Exorcist, teamed up with a LG Wood-Elf/Vampire Monk, CN Daelkyr Half-Blood Dread Necromancer (20th lvl he becomes a Lich), a CN Ogre Mage Wizard, and a CN Tiefling/Half-Dragon Hexblade/Dragon Disciple. WTF Really do they want my guy to have some sort of twitch? -------------------------------------------------------------------------- In another campaign (different DM, same group) I play a rogue. Well from the start I was going to be the rogue who stole everyting that wasnt nailed down, then steal a hammer, pry out the nails, take the nails and whatever they were holding down. Well we found a little girl locked in a dungeon cell and she was really scared. So the DM said to make a Cha/Diplomacy check...NATURAL 20. Yeah...guess what made me go WTF. She is 12 and has a cruch on me and I can barely leave her sight without her crying. Now my rogue has a concience. |
| Pippa03-27-07, 04:19 PM | As a Half- Elven Duelist in a dungeon the Party and I encountered a major Demon standing in a brightly glowing pentacle. He said he only wanted to talk to me and no one else. I approached and he whispered, "I drew the pentacle myself.Whoo-hoo-hoohoo... that's so eeevil! I feel tempted to use this one day... Our party once encountered a stark naked young man, who got us so far as to go search for his birdie called 'Weeble' which the Bugbears had taken. And he started to have a crush on our party pirate, too. |
| rabbidhorriddireweasel03-27-07, 06:59 PM | LOL! |
| rabbidhorriddireweasel03-27-07, 10:42 PM | [QUOTE=OmNefarious;11904402]Im in a campaign where I am a LG Aasimar/Half-Celestial Paladin/Cleric/Exorcist, teamed up with a LG Wood-Elf/Vampire Monk, CN Daelkyr Half-Blood Dread Necromancer (20th lvl he becomes a Lich), a CN Ogre Mage Wizard, and a CN Tiefling/Half-Dragon Hexblade/Dragon Disciple. Dude, thats not as confusing as my level 30 character. level 8 wizard/ level 1 cleric / level 6 wild mage / level 5 fatespinner/ level 4 fortunes friend / level 6 thermatologist. All with the paragon template. I played my cards right so that I could get 13 rerolls in one turn, and I automaticaly re roll any natural ones (PRIDE DOMAIN FOR THE WIN!) WTF!!! |
| rabbidhorriddireweasel03-28-07, 10:40 PM | Common guys, no one has yet beaten my polar bear story! |
| Dethro03-29-07, 12:29 AM | As a 6th-lvl dwarf barbarian, I'm wandering through a dungeon. I come into a room with blackness on either side of the path.. I throw a rock into the blackness on the left hand side, and the DM says that it comes out on the other side. Before he can finish the sentence, my dwarf jumps through, just as he says 'it appears to be smaller and pitted.' The dwarf came out the other side, flayed of all of his skin and clothing. Dead, naturally. Just goes to show that, no matter how much a dwarf may think rocklike, he just isn't. |
| Freakishbob03-29-07, 01:58 AM | we were at a half built mage tower that we had constructed a roof on...in the night we noticed that the high ogre pc and the centair pc were missing....we decided to go search for them and we came upon a clearing of trees only to walk in on them making babies.........WTF!!!!???!?!?!?!?! |
| Raumz03-29-07, 02:36 AM | I ran a solo campaign a while back where the PC tried to assassinate a noble just because he wanted to. Failing he wound up in jail without any pants on (dont ask how its al ong story). He broke out and killed 4 or 5 guards and a mother and her chil in the process. He went into a tavern where another series of events led to him being chased out into the streets by a half-orc guard with a huge war hammer. That being said... The 4 person party I was DMing for was walking through the city (one of the members of the party played the above mentions PC). As they were walking a short human not wearing and pants went running by being chased closely but a half-orc with a hammer the size of a human child. The 3 members of the party that weren't in on this joke sat there confused but person who played the character almost fell out of his seat laughing... I think this earns a WTF from the 3 remaining members. |
| CroBob03-29-07, 03:16 AM | The elven fighter of the group (also the only woman) gets kidnapped, and the party wizard and cleric cast some divinations to figure out where she is. The scry works, so they see what happens to her. They also divine the direction she's in. They see that they have to get to her fast or whatever that guy just made her drink might... do something. Or something. So anyway, they decide they have to be in a hurry, get there as soon as possible. Well, the cleric's barracks room was on the way, so the cleric said he had to stop there. He had a way to possibly figure out where she was better than just "that way". They were, after all, in a dwarven city with four horizontal layers, and they could get to one part of the city just to have to head back to the great stairwell because they were on the wrong floor. When they get to his room, he runs into his closet and shuts the door. He stays in there for a matter of minutes, not making any sounds. WTF? (Why did he run into his closet? I'm not telling!) |
| rubermavors03-29-07, 08:54 AM | campaign im running includes a wtf character. he's a half-giff (for those not familiar with 2nd ed. spelljamer think humanoid hippo) he's 6'4" 350 lbs and a cavalier. dressed like the dread pirate roberts and yes he know tumbling:eek: |
| Pippa03-29-07, 03:48 PM | (Why did he run into his closet? I'm not telling!) Either he was scared or he knew he had an elevator in his room. That, or he scryed the damsel was in a closet much like his. Common guys, no one has yet beaten my polar bear story! The word unbeatable comes to mind. |
| Paneki03-29-07, 04:35 PM | The party crossed a group of good-aligned Druids, and they sent a Representant to talk. The party had sustained some amount of Damage and was counting on the druids to heal them a bit. Druid: I'm Nok' Party Member: Hello, we are a group of adventurers crossing through your forest and it seems we need a bit of rest and healing and... Druid: That would be Nok' Iur Ait Unds for you. |
| Larriston03-29-07, 04:46 PM | I once played where the DM was know to indulge in a few " adult beverages" while gaming. Sometimes this was good, sometimes it was a source of some great quotes. " Your party manages to sneak past the gate house, but suddenly the pork-cutlass slams down behind you, trapping you in an abandoned courtyard that is densely, sparsely wooded." WTF.....WTF...WTF PORK-CUTLASS sounds like a sword made of hot-dogs? He meant to say PORTCULLIS Densely. sparsely wooded.. we never did figure that one out. |
| Makuya03-29-07, 06:35 PM | The party crossed a group of good-aligned Druids, and they sent a Representant to talk. Nope. Brainfart. (That means I don't get it) |
| Paneki03-29-07, 06:47 PM | Its an instant joke about the Druid name being: No-Cure-light-wounds. -My name is Nok' -we need healing -That would be No Cure light wounds for you. Hope that clears that out :) We all said WTF after that one. |
