| Paladin200407-19-05, 09:28 AM | Ok, i start, remember these all have to be true :D 1.) I once Dmed for a party of 2 Paladins and a Cleric, all who were for the same Diety and cause ect. I think i still have mental Scaring to this very day! Paladin 1: Hmm look its an evil artifact, its probably worth millions...lets destroy it!" Paladin 2 and Cleric: Hurray! (sorry normally the parties i DM for don't get on very well, so seeing this all along the was some what disturbing, to say the least) |
| Ut-Napishtim07-19-05, 09:33 AM | The only odd thing that comes to mind is a rather large game I played in years ago. IIRC there were about 9 people playing, and any experienced player will tell you a game that size is like an episode of Survivor. Myself and two other players all decided to play Wild Elves, so nearly instantly banded together. We were pretty much able to run the group because none of the others could put together a strong enough alliance to oppose us. It was pretty cool. |
| SwitchUK07-19-05, 09:34 AM | Nothing but Chaotic Neutral sorcerors, as far as the eye could see... Luckily, I managed to talk them out of it. |
| Gurthoron07-19-05, 09:40 AM | My DM likes to allow weird races into her campaign, and we all take advantage of it. Some of our groups: 1.) Vampie Paladin, Half-Celestial Cleric, Weredragon Dragon Slayer, Weretiger Catlord, Dragon Minion Sorcerer, Immature Sirrush Barbarian. 2.) Lich Necromancer, Death Slaad Rogue/Underdark guide, Warforged fighter, Saphire wyrmling 3.) Fallen Solar Rogue, Demilich Necromancer, barbarian human, Faerie Dragon Rogue/Sorc/Ur-priest 4.) Tauren War Hulk, Awakened Squirrel were-tiger, Stonechild fighter, Human time mage. |
| Valgaav07-19-05, 11:17 AM | we went for the Traditional 4, with a twist: a monk (fighter), a Favored Soul (cleric), a Scout (rogue), and me, a warlock (arcanist). I'm multiclassing into Blue Mage, but still |
| TheErsatzFacsimileOfMe07-19-05, 11:22 AM | Oddest party makeup: CN Awakened Bear Fighter LE Half-Orc Necromancer LG Human Palidin CN Human Rogue They were all part of a massive attack on Ja'Durahl (homebrew) and banded together to fight the forces that were attacking them. I actually worked out pretty well for a while (untill the paladin started using detect evil all the time... Pally: "I detect evil" Necro & Rogue: "We're right here!" :D |
| scott64407-19-05, 11:54 AM | Insane party makeups? hmmm... a bunch of bards and rogues, all with max ranks in disguise, a hat of disguise, and some eyeliner, blush, kohl, rouge, and so on.... :rimshot: (grinning, ducking, and running) Actually, I prefer such wacky parties. I actually like to make my players create characters without coordinating between themselves, as a way of presenting totally unbalanced parties. It's way cool (and a fun challenge) to mod the game for such a group and see just what they can accomplish! |
| Bruunwald07-19-05, 11:56 AM | The one that probably takes the cake in my experience, is when one DM wanted to allow his brother to play multiclass human characters, but in 1st edition a human couldn't multiclass. So he had his brother start out with five or so multiclassing halflings, then polymorphed them all into humans, then gave them all darkvision (back then we called it infravision). This guy HAD to play multiple characters all the time. So I would sit there with my lowly ranger or fighter, waiting all day for my turn while the other guy's five polymorphed, infravision-equipped, multiclassed halfling humans argued with each other. First, I asked, well, why do you want to play humans anyway, if you're going to give them the attributes of other races? But that was a silly question. It was purely cosmetic. Then I asked, why not just make it so the humans in your game are the way you want? Why all the backstory with the polymorphing, etc? Guess they just wanted an in-game explanation for all of it. |
| Koofoo9507-19-05, 02:17 PM | A Elven LG Cleric, a Human LG fighter, and a CN Orc Barbarian |
| angelshelper8107-19-05, 02:40 PM | we went for the Traditional 4, with a twist: a monk (fighter), a Favored Soul (cleric), a Scout (rogue), and me, a warlock (arcanist). I'm multiclassing into Blue Mage, but still Actually, it's worse than that. It's an Elven monk, an Elven favored soul of Pelor (!), a Halfling scout, and a Windling warlock/blue mage who's trying to get out of being a warlock and is probably going to wind up as a half celestial. (I'm the DM of this group...) If my and Valgaav's characters don't make it off the falling airship alive next game in the other campaign we're in, we're threatening to play an anthropormorphic monkey and a treant next. Woo. |
| General_Ridley07-19-05, 03:45 PM | hasn't happened yet, but its one I've always wanted to play. Its 5 half brothers. 1 changeling Rogue 1 Human Cleric of Kord 1 Half-Elf Wizard 1 Half-Orc Fighter/Outcast Champion 1 Half-Ogre Barbarian/Outcast champion All have the same father, but different mothers. |
| gleep07-19-05, 04:18 PM | Hmmm. About 15 years ago we had a mini-campaign consiting of a group that was made up of the more... odd... NPCs from the main campaign. * A gnome monk that rode around, standing up, on an arumvorox (sp? golden gorger) and spoke with a surfer accent. * A gray elven wizard who had 6 feet of sentient motile hair (run as a somewhat weird npc; the hair, not the wizard. Well, okay, both.) * An intelligent, armored hippopotamus bard with a telepathic, dry-land squid companion. * A chaotic good beholder aptly named Biff the Beholder (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=3731541&postcount=14) and several of his companions. * The Chaotic Neutral child-like transmuting wizard with a fondness for polymorph other and a spell she created called Dizzy's Molesting Tentacles. I don't remember much about that campaign. . . but I do remember we laughed. A lot. :D --gleep |
| SwitchUK07-19-05, 07:44 PM | * An intelligent, armored hippopotamus bard with a telepathic, dry-land squid companion.     :heehee    All hail the hippo bard! |
| Otto the Bugbear07-19-05, 09:13 PM | I think this thread is almost dead now. How can anyone compete with a hippo bard and his dry land squid? Cheers Otto :) |
| Thuragrun07-19-05, 09:40 PM | Ghoul Warlock/Sorcerer Wight Rogue/Ninja Lich Favored Soul Ghast Monk/Tatooed Monk Ogre Dread Zombie(GR's Advanced Bestiary) Barbarian/Bear Warrior (me!) Human Blood Knight(Same as above) Fighter/Kensai Half-Fiend Human Cleric/Wizard/True Necromancer (our fearless leader) This group was so fun! I have been itching for a sequal to this campaign. |
