Edit: Woah. I just realized Z'Taris and Zentaris from the first post are really close. Weird that we thought of such similar names.

33. Ardartha Mak
34. Klar Madarth
35. Camon Odarth Lordas Ith (Come on, o Darth Lord of Sith, my players STILL didn't get the refrence, and out of the 8 of them, 6 could quote you MOST of the Star Wars series)

I'm not going to number these 'cause I'm in a silly mood today ... :D
How about a villain named Carrottop?
Or Twinkie-poo?
Or Widget?
(y'see, they all turned to Evil because of the constant teasing they got growing up with such ridiculous names ... :P )
Or, if you want the Ultimate in Evil Names (pause for drumroll ...)
Bubbles, Blossom and Buttercup! [g, d & r]

48. Urlar BlackGrin.
Toothless homeless man, well liked in the neighbourhood... nobody knows he's really one of the best assassins in the region.

49. Assam the Twice Wounded.
Slave trader. He was a slave himself once, either freed or escaped, making his own slave dealing that much more despicable.

50. Ruprect Stillhand.
Obese merchant, once an archer of reknowned in competitions. Has struck a deal with "something" for more wealth, and has slowly begun to be corrupted...

Hrm, just a quick question, I don't have any name to contribute because my villains generally have a bit more mundane names seeing as how they have a tendency to be human. Anyhow, does anyone else use fairly normal names for villains? I mean every once in a while I'm enticed to throw in a title, but I just don't like giving villains names with accent marks where they aren't needed. For example, I'd probably never use Z'Taris, though no offence to the poster who suggested that. Come to think of it, I definitely wouldn't, not only does it have a Z at the beginning, but it's difficult to think about how to pronounce (I could, but I have no idea if all of the players could). Hence, I avoid names with unneccesary accent marks and strangely pronounced words. Sure they'd add that exotic quality to the game, but they just beg the players to reference him by "that evil guy" rather than his name, which is also a problem because I don't always WANT them to know the guy is evil, which is why I don't use many of those adjective+noun last names that describe a person's character before meeting them. Seriously, is ANYBODY going to trust a person with the last name of Blackgrin?

most villian's names aren't their real names just names they adopt to be evil. If your players refer to your NPC BBEG as "that evil guy" then your doing your job and made him annoying enough.

The Zenith (The wondering sorcerer that the PCs have seen before them so many times but never spoke to, attacked, or really knows what he is. He's like the sasquach of wandering strange sorcerers, so, people who have seen him give him a unique name.)

Pansy PennyPlucker (that little weak halfling in the tavern no one thought would put up a fight untill he blows up an entire city with his secret arcane powers and a demonic army)

JibberJabber (dubya)

I prefer villian names that don't sound like a villan. I mean really, what parent would name their kid Kerinon Vuul or some of the others? I especially like John-Erik for a name, though, because nobody expects me to use such an obvious pun.
Morlachmir

10-05-05, 04:36 AM
76) Grarronok Bloodmuzzle (Orcish tribal warlord.. Barbarian X/Frenzied Berserker Y would work well.)

77) Vahnaria Treefall (Female Elven druid. Tired of people, namely humans disrespect for the forests, she decided to wipe them from the face of the planet.)

78) Jimmy *Insert last name or title here* (Human apprentice to a fumbling old mage, he decided to read on in his master's spellbook and discovered a summon spell for a demon. He took the demonologist PrC [BoVD] and studied it in secret. Now he wants revenge for the menial work he's had to do, and doesn't limit his rage to just the wizard.)

79) Bhuka Axehammer (Dwarven/duregar fighter/fighter based class. Two weapon fighting dwarven waraxe and warhammer, or a new double weapon would work.)

80) Kindarod the Crazy (Gnomish artificer/tinkering class. Hides behind his -large- constructs while they destroy random things.)

Chew on those for a while. :D

I like how you chose one of MY names. :P

Possibly Mr and Mrs Vuul just wanted a little kid called Keri?

Also: why not assume it's a pseudonym, or an assumed identity rather than a birth name?

Also also: IT'S A GAME!!!!!

Meaning that it doesn't necessarily HAVE to be realistic.

LOL, I agree! Two such villians I had that followed this example are:

Lord Sl'isk Vaviiw - Mindflayer looking to colonize a city with hundreds of illithid spawns. Was quickly refered to as Tentacle McNugget and another name that would violate the CoC of the boards. :D

Sir Edward Degauss - St. Cuthbert cleric that went to any means necessary to ressurect his dead wife. This guy was a weird one, because he didn't want riches or world domination, he just wanted to ressurect his wife which wouldn't come back by mortal magic. So he was searching for more powerful magic to do such. Was often refered to as "That Evil Guy".

86) Yuvviol Vendred (IMC a wild elf ranger/assassin)
87) Vaneth (was a crazy wizard, because doesn't every game need one?)
88) Gell White-Face (was a half-orc day-laborer, actually a cover identity for a succubus)
Salaman

89. Edan and Omil (limo nade) the two Gnomes. :cheer: :dancin:
Edan the illusionist always wears his purple robes with the yellow stars and moons. Omil is a fighter that uses a nice little hammer in every hand.
The two were the favourite NPC's of my players.
What my players didn't know was that these two were the incorporation of the BBEG in Faerun. h

The Dark Lord Chuckles D Silly Piggy. :)

Well I think regular names make NPC and villians more interesting and slightly more dangerous.

Who can be sacred of a halfing named Sepherina Goodbarrel? Well they should have been!

Although one of my favorites was a Ranger elf who had lost his tounge, and couldn''t tell anyone his name so everyone just ended up calling him Ranger the Elf.

Sveltfang, the world's stupidest white dragon was a really fun villian too, because he had a ring of greater polymorph, and didn't know it, so he would see a bear, say "A bear!", then turn into a bear. He had 1357 half dragon children, but was quickly killed when someone drained his 3 intelligence... *sigh* It was my own fault for giving him a story... bad pcs. They did almost die because he built his lair in an active volcano but just plugged the lava up with rocks and ice... good times.
