1) A small white bunny inside a locked room with one exit and a large amount of corpse of enemies the pc would have trouble fighting when they're alone. And then bunny starts hopping towards them.

2) A small girl in the middle of the road looking at the pcs and doesn't seem to be lost.

3) A single Kobold yells at his comrades to stay out of the fight he'll handle the pcs on his own.

4) If said Kobold had a tiny viper familiar

5) If said familiar suddenly grows in size.

6) There's a lever in the middle of a room.

7) The pcs encounter a Balor and Kobold in the same room and the Kobold angrily stares at the Balor and that alone causes him to wet himself.

Even non-metagamers would be afraid of some of those. The monty-python bunny would creep me out. Something had to kill all those things, and in a world where the most powerful draconic mages can become invisible or take on whatever form they want, I'm not taking any chances. Also, kobolds can be scary, if you know enough about their society. Not all of them are first level warriors, some are powerful spellcasters (what is their perfered class? Sorcerer! The have many sorcerers).

The whole Monty Python rabbit trick is still too predictable. It encourages metagaming actually, since they expect the rabbit to be a vorpal bunny with big pointy teeth etc.

So this is what you do...

26) The PCs come into a cave filled with corpses of very powerful monsters and see a white rabbit come hopping along. They fight it, it puts on a good fight (give it some template to give it a bite attack and maybe some intelligence), but dies in the end.

Then what really killed all of those monsters shows up.;)

Better yet, have someone (or thing) come in screaming, "What did you do to Bunny!"

29)They find a secret door in a dungeon. When they step in,they find a little girl eating. When they get closer they realise that this is the girl they saw outside as a corpse. They ask her "But...aren't
you dead?" and the girl replies "Aren't we all?"

30)They are in a dungeon full of spider's webs. They enter a locked room, and after they kill the monstrous spider coming down from the walls in it,they realise that they are in a dead end.The time they try to get back the door suddenly shuts. The rogue says :"No problem!I can handle it!" but he really freaks out when he sees the door disappearing leaving a stone wall in its place. To top the bill, the walls start mysteriously getting closer.....

One of the best things to do to players is to play of their knowledge of pop culture. For example, I used to DM a group, all of whom were fans of a webcomic named sluggy freelance, specifically the character Bun-Bun. (and people, this dates back to before Pun-Pun)

All I will say is that when they walked into a tavern, they heard a voice ordering alfalfa margaritas. It's the only time that I ever saw 6 PC's of level 16 & up get stuck in a doorway because they all immediately turned tail and ran.

Needless to say, for those of you who know the comic, the bar did not survive the night.

Intelligent enemies, mostly. Nothing as scary as a truly cunning and evil enemy.

Asking for random listen/spot/sense motive checks also works :)

And my personal favourite, a beating with their own PHB if they let OOC information influence their IC decisions too overtly.

How about this...most likely cliche...
34. Have the players walk into a small square room with a small glass mirror on one wall. They see a small doll with a large head and white face sitting on a tyke. Once they are all in the room the door shuts and locks. The white dolls says in a weird voice, "Hello adventurers, want to play a game?"
35. DM: Ok....before entering this dungeon how many extra character sheets do we have?

Its simple really.
Anything the Players can do, the DM can do.

If the players are metagaming to specifically attack the weaknesses of monsters they shouldn't know, then the monsters will suddenly start specifically attacking the weaknesses of the players.

"Oh, you're immune to everything except for small gnomish women named Susan with brown hair and green eyes that smell like lilies, and they make you explode? Remember when you just immediantly started hitting that troll with acid and fire after I told you that your character wouldn't know that? Yeah, well you see a small gnomish woman with brown hair and green eyes walking towards you. Roll init."

40. There is no Christianity in D&D, so there's no bad reason why the kind, if not slightly mysterious, son of the blacksmith was named Satan. (Watch the PCs try frame him or blame him for the first thing that goes wrong.)

41)

Dialog: You enter a dark room. Corpses line the walls, each with their neck ripped open, some partially eaten. In the center a little white fuzzy ball sits, you hear the gnawing of teeth against bone... Suddenly the fuzzy ball turns towards the party leader - It's a bunny!

Suddenly he starts floating towards you!

*DM rolls a few times*

*Whispers under breath angrily* And I wanted to do some damage first...

Dialog: A giant Orc rushes out with fire in his eyes, smashing the bunny to the ground! Then he turns looking at you...

That be the devil talkin' in ye' lad! Practicin' magic and witchcraft all be the work of the Adversary I say. No but that's actually a good idea, but watch all the bad guys through out the game are munipulated by Satan.

42) An odd pale count becomes the employer for the party, for some odd reason he's only seen at night though.

I had the opposite problem: I had a vampire NPC. I dropped every hint (Nobility title, pale, old, talks with romanian accent, drinks thick red wine, wears red and black robes, stays indoors, two 'crossbow wounds' on one side of his neck, etc). 4 sessions later, they figured it out. (After a PC turned vampire told them)

Anyways...

43): At the bottom of a dungeon mysteriously full of undead, have the PCs discover a gem-filled pool. Also, at the bottom of the pool, is a Gem-Studded, rune-covered Skull... It isn't a demi-lich. But if the PCs freak and smash it, they find the runes were Glyphs of Warding, loaded with whatever makes the rest of the dungeon that much more difficult. (Bestow Curse, Blindness, or other nasty, permanent spells work well)

See, I'm really good at guessing what monsters we fight. Once the DM said, "You see a tall pale man wearing black". I just assumed he was a vampire and he was. Another time, we were walking through a forest and there were 3 guys sitting around a fire. I just assumed they were werewolves, and they were...
