I just thought it would be fun if people listed some of their funny or nonsensical methods for BBEG to destroy the world, but lets try to keep them funny.

1. BBEG purchases 1 everfull magic bottle of water (i know such an item exists i just forget the exact name) trecks up the highest mountain around and sets the bottle to GUSH and turns it on its side.

BBEG- HAHAHAHA in 10 000 years the material plane will be nothing but water. minions guard that bottle for the next 10 000 years.

BBEG attempts to build a giant sand castle so he can kick it in everyone elses face.

3.) BBEG Spends whole campaign finding magic items that extend range of spells that will stack.

"HAHA! One more ring of double length and I can fire a Magic Missle into the sun causing a supernova that will wipe out this planet.

4) With fire and lots of it.

5) Weasels, and lots of them.

6) BBEG researches epic spell 'burn DM's notes'

7) Open a gate to the far realm, prepare for tentacular goodness

8) Open your worlds first Starbucks, then wait. It's only a matter of time before they reach critical mass.

9) Tell a group of adventurer's how much xp they'd get for destroying the world.

10) Houserule that three nat 20's on a sunder instantly breaks an object. Wait.

13) Find the plantet's self destruct button under the roots of the world tree.

14) Get a reeeallly long fire-immune chain with a fire-immune grapple, and give it to a reeeallly strong munchkined (N)PC. Have him pull the world into the sun.

Technically, that wouldn't work with just a club or coin; those objects would reach critical velocity at somewhere below 100 mph and stay at that speed. If magnets were involved... well... you've just established the world-kill railgun.

This is a crazy metamagic trick someone did on the CO boards. The radius is only seventy miles (at minimum CL), but it could destroy a city. Several people working together could easily wipe out a continent.

Step 1: Take the Snowcasting feat (Frostburn) and apply it to Locate City (RoD). This gives it the [cold] descriptor.
Step 2: Now that it has the cold descriptor, apply Flash Frost (CompArc?) to the Snowcasting Locate City. This makes it do 2 damage to everything in the area, which is 10 miles per level.
Step 3: Apply Energy Substitution (CompArc) to the Flash Frost Snowcasting Locate city, turning the cold damage into electricity.
Step 4: Now that it deals electricity damage, you can use Born of the Three Thunders (PhB II) to make the spell deal half electricity, half sonic damage. More importantly, your Born of Three Thunders Energy Substitutioned Flash Frost Snowcasting Locate City now allows a reflex save for half damage, which lets you...
Step 5: ...apply Explosive Spell to this mess. This makes the spell force an additional reflex save or be driven back to the extreme edge of its radius, making the subjects take 1d6 damage per ten feet travelled. The spell has a radius of seventy miles. Your Explosive Born of Three Thunders Energy Substitutioned Flash Frost Snowcasting Locate City deals about 36,960d6 damage, plus another 5,280d6 per caster level.

Best of all, all that only takes up a fourth level spell slot, so the average person could pull it off at about level seven. That also means you can have a wand of it...

27) Follow these simple steps:

Get a group of several high level PCs together (above 15th level)
Have them go around collecting all number of magical items and artifacts.
???
Profit!

Wait, that wouldn't work...:thinks:

28) The world is an object, right? So it must have some (high) amount of HP, and probably a hardness of 8 (for stone). Just get a bunch of people together with adamantine picks and swords and axes. After a looooong time, the world will run out of HP. Just keep all those casters with mending away from the planet.

You'd need only one person.....a level (insert ungodly high number here) Barbarian with every single rage enhancing feat/item/whatever out there. Have him rage and power sunder attack(can you even do that?) the world for full. Give him true strike just to make sure he hits =P

I think then he would greater cleave himself XD

Oh, btw, critical velocity is when an object reaches the highest speed possible for its size, density, and mass. Not 100% sure that's the exact definition, but it's close enough to understand.

Definitely the simplest way would be one of many uses of polymorph any object. Namely, making yourself incorporeal (so you can survive the many issues of being in space), and turning the world into a sheet of parchment, which you then cast magic missile on.

Even simpler would be to turn something like a bunny or a pebble into a black hole. If you had any interest in surviving, you could turn yourself into the black hole.

Or, you could turn the world into a radionuclide, which would then decay.

Or turn it into antimatter, etc. etc.

Any of these tactics would only require a level 15 wizard, or any arcane caster or Use Magic Device skill user with an appropriate scroll, which would cost only 3200 gp.

Actualy, this deals more damage, since D&D uses a 6000 ft mile. This can be deduced from table 9-3 on page 162 by doing some math. The actual damage is 42000d6 damage plus 6000d6 per caster level.

Through any means necessary (mass casting of some force effect, excessively-high strength build, giant lever with many immovable rods, etc), propel the earth toward any other stellar body. The earth is now your ammunition. If it hits, it is instantly destroyed, if it misses, there still exists the 50% chance that it will be destroyed.

Either because a) You can't apply explosive spell to it (not a cone, cylinder, line or burst), or..
b) Since the spell lacks the 'Target:' line, it has no targets, and so the damage applies to nothing, so nothing has to make the saves, so nothing can fail the saves and nothing can be ejected. :(

On the other hand, a 2nd level spell that forces all moving creatures within 10 miles per caster level to make a check or fall down is not to be sneezed at.

Anyone know the original source of the trick?

[edit]Also, the caster would need to be spontaneous, rather than memorised, since Snowcasting isn't a metamagic.

1 - Charop is still debating whether or not the qualifiers are examples or a strict list (something that effects everything in 100' from a point (caster) is somewhat of a burst, but also might not be...)

2 - The damage occurs to everything in the area of the spell, so 2 points of damage does occur to everything in the AOE. Save for half.

3 - You can metamagic rod it too probably if you aren't a spontaneous caster.

The original used Apocalypse from the Sky and was totally legit under all interpretations, but that's a 9th level spell, and thus not as amusing as blowing up everything with a 1st level spell.

Oh, btw, critical velocity is when an object reaches the highest speed possible for its size, density, and mass. Not 100% sure that's the exact definition, but it's close enough to understand.
Almost, you just missed that it's only applies if the object is moving through something, such as the atmosphere. The faster an object goes, the higher the air resistance becomes (pretty trivial). Eventually you'll reach a speed where the air resistance equals the gravitic pull, meaning you won't go any faster no matter how long or far you fall.

I'm sure there's some way to abuse that rule without having to go through all the trouble of actually launching the world at some other planet.

I'd like to clarify the Dimension Door trick (read is somewhere in the TO board).

Get a glass box.
Put a penny in said box.
Close the box, then pull a vacuum on it (easy even without magic).
Cast Teleportation Circle inside the box, with the output ring (one inch in radius) two inches above the input ring, which is below the penny. The penny falls, enters input ring, reappears two inches higher, and falls more - increasing velocity.
Cast Permanency on the Teleportation Circle.
Drop the box in a variant time plane (Say 1000 : 1 ratio).
Wait a minute or two.
Retrieve box. The penny is now traveling at quite near light speed, and thus has insane mass. Drop the box from a building.
Get the Heck out of there, because the resulting explosion is sufficient to destroy a few galaxies at the least!

Oh, and the Locate City bomb has been replaced with Find the Temple. Something like a radius of 40 miles/CL. You get the picture.

The original used Apocalypse from the Sky and was totally legit under all interpretations, but that's a 9th level spell, and thus not as amusing as blowing up everything with a 1st level spell.1) OK, if any area is ruled to be allowed, that's fine, my main problem is with 2)

2) Flash Frost Spell says: "<deals>...damage to all targets in the area..."
Locate City has no targets, so nothing takes the damage.
Born of the Three Thunders only applies the saves to "...creatures that take damage from the spell..." so no saves.
Explosive spell only ejects creatures that fail their reflex save.
No targets -> no damage -> no saves -> no ejection. :(

Even if you want to say that Locate City implicitly has targets, the only possible ones are cities. Cities are not creatures, so no damage, etc etc.

3) Can't you only use one metamagic rod at once? In any case, not a serious problem.

...and finally - yeah, having to wait to be able to cast 9th level spells (requiring artifacts as material components) puts a bite in the plans for world destruction :)

Get the Heck out of there, because the resulting explosion is sufficient to destroy a few galaxies at the least!

Oh, and the Locate City bomb has been replaced with Find the Temple. Something like a radius of 40 miles/CL. You get the picture.

technically with a perfect vacuum inside of it (and you would need a perfect vaccum for this plan) the glass box would implode due to pressure.

a) Open up the portal to an Plane of Ice
b) Summon Rek's Yggdrasill's Star Sized Great Ball of Hail
c) Have said ball of hail crash into planet of chose
d) Watch what happens

In theory, the star sized ball of hail will ether deal massive damage to a planet or destroy it outright.

Summon the Snarl.
Really, you all should be ashamed that it took you so long to think of this.

It's not that we didn't think of it, it would just end up being a whole long quest about a bunch of well defended gates and take too long.

If I was going for "101 ways to destroy the pantheon" I'd be tempted to use your suggestion.

How about putting the world in a really big bag of holding and puncturing it from the inside? I believe the contents are lost forever. A Heward's Handy Haversack would probably work better, because worn items can resize themselves to fit larger characters. Just find someone really big to put it on.

Erh... Darkdrgon... Im very sorry, but Lavos wasnt Summoned to the world. He fell in the prehistoric era... no one summoned him then. Magus only wanted to call him so he could destroy Lavos himself. But then crono and frog came and.... buu buuu

Remember Ayla saying the meaning of Lavos? Big-Fire? La-Vos.

The problem with this is that when the earth becomes a pebble, you don't have any air to breathe anymore, so you can't really wait 'til Animate ends.

A level 32 cleric should have means to survive in space.

A level 32 cleric shouldn't strife to destroy earth, rather dominate it :P
But you're probably right.

1)With the assistance of high level Bards, create global hysteria about a condition which is inadequately studied and documented.
2)Use this hysteria to help establish a totalitarian government disguised cleverly as a "for your own good" style Collectivist world rule, preferably fronted by a petty, jealous little man, his Dolores Umbridge-esque wife, and drug-addled son.
3) Wait it out. Starvation and pogroms to taste.
