15. Spellcaster enemies in a warrior campaign.

Today we had:
-one blindness
-3 hold persons
-2 fears
-one wither limb

And... That was for the barbarian/ranger alone! (okay, some of those are fortitude saves, bt at the 4th level, elite-array npc can have save DCs of 15+ spell level)

My favourite opponent was:
one 5th level cleric with only hold persons, blindness and fears prepared, with some ½cr skeletons and scythes for coup de gracing!

30. Target the weakest character with every monster attack.

31. Make literally every item cursed.

32. Make the king think the PCs are evil and have the entire country attack them.

33. Make a dungion that is impossable to leave (the door disappears or something) and make a random encounter happen every time they try to make camp so they can never replenish their per day abilities. Then put them through a 200 room dungion.

49, real number You know that one of your PC's is a pyro, therefore, he swore an oath to set everything he could on fire, without causing harm to any core race. which includes costing NPC's money. And if he broke the oath, he had to kill himself... but he got +6 on Caster level with fire descriptor.

So you set a bed, which is flammable, in a room. Under the bed is 3 jugs full of something really flammable! then... hahaha... they all get blown up, then every monster in the whole dungeon comes to kill them.... becasue they hear the noise of the explosion

Fun Fun Times.... i almost feel sorry for him... but thats what he gets for signing a stupid blood oath...

pierow37

06-15-06, 10:45 PM
53. real number

My personal favorite is the alarm of enemy alert.. sounds great doesn't it... but really, it makes a very loud screach that can be heard within a 50 ft radius, whenever an evil creature is within 25 ft.

Oh, and it's cursed so it can only come off the PC by ripping it out, which causes 15d8 dmg... then you bleed for 25 pts of dmg each round for 1 day. then it does no more damage, the bleeding cannot be stoped by spell or a heal check

24. DM "you know that amulet your father gave you?"
PC "yes"
DM "it just exploded in your face"

I've had that exact situation happen in my group.

31. Make literally every item cursed.

Not nearly evil enough. Because then they expect it and don't do the stupid thing of putting on equipment before checking it first.

49: Have a large stone door in a dungeon. When the PCs push it, it doesn't move. When they pull it, they find out it has no hinges as it falls on them for 5d6, no save unless they have evasion.

You, sir, are my hero. :D

Anyway...

68) Cover a room that has paper walls with explosive runes that says (in common) "DO NOT READ".

69) Allow NPCs to do called shots and send them against alot of enemies with True Strike (DM: The ranger uses his truestrike amulet and calls a shot to Jeffs nuts; Jeff: :censored: )

70. And they're all brightly colored in big bold letters, blinking, and have big floating arrows pointing at them. Then, when the runes explode, the arrows each add 1d6 piercing damage for shrapnel.

71. Have the party rogue be cursed with the Reverse Midas Touch. Any gold they touch turns into ordinary stone. Then have it take a Miracle/Wish to get rid of the curse.

72. Undergarment of Resist Fear

This is a pair of undershorts. Boxers or briefs, doesn't matter. It responds to Detect Magic and Identify normally. When the PC dons it, however, it does not help him resist Cause Fear (or anything else fearful) ... the first time. It will help him thereafter. At DM option, it may give him a + to his save, act like the feat Iron Will, or it may make him immune to fear effects. You see, this pair of undershorts only works when it is wet or soiled.

Actually, immunity to fear might be good for the Improved Undergarment.

75) i pulled this off of someone else so if they see it feel free to take credit.

have a permanent npc bard follow the pcs around taking notes and making fun of them whenever they get in a compromising situation. he never fights and he is never attacked. he has plus 5000 to all saves and improved evasion and uncanny dodge (rogues have to be level 41 to sneak attack him) have him have sr 6000 and dr 100/- and immunities to all energy types. whenever they talk to him he just makes alot of refferences to "not wanting to interfere with the plot" when they ask his name give him yours and when they ask his professoin have him say "well isn't it obvious? im the DM" then run as your players throw themselves across the table to kill you
TheSkinnySkeleton

06-17-06, 03:39 AM
55) Throw in a half-orc bard who sings raunchy songs like "Transvestite Bar Wench."
Heehee! I actually have a re-occuring orc bard villain in my campaign. The PCs were imprisoned by orcs for a short while at level 1, and there was this orc bard constantly singing "Working on chain gang!" and thumping his big wardrum. Needless to say, when the PCs escaped, he was the first to die. And every session since, my players force me to bring in another orc bard so they can kill it again. Seriously, if I don't have an orc bard, they simply take control away from me, say there's an orc bard themselves, and kill it anyways. It's hilarious. :P

76) Every battle encounter has an invisible wizard readying his action to counterspell.

Technically, they needed to answer 3, not 5, and it was a catapult that threw them in to the chasm of eternal peril.

Take the bard idea,,,and make it a kender who is constantly stealing (and always suceeding) exactly the item they need in a dire situation eg. caltrops when the 5 ogres are running at you full speed. and the kenders got em 500ft that way wondering what they're for.

Pcs Hated it...it was wonderful everytime they said pulling out this... i'd say (just to make them happy) roll search, *roll* *fail* *look at the kender* *sees him with item in question just because they were going to pull it out*

93. Have an enemy kill their familiars and/or animal companions.

It's just the sort of thing a villain would do. When our druid awoke to find his snake pinned to the ceiling the players all stared at me in disbelief so I explained "Imps are devils. Devils are EVIL. What part of 'evil' is it that you guys are having problems wrapping your minds around?"

It was actually quite gratifying when the party leader announced "All right, THAT'S IT! In the morning we are going imp hunting!" (I'd actually goaded them into doing something.)
