I never heard of IDK. But 1d8/1d8 means that both ends of the spiked chain deal 1d8 damage. Actually, the damage is 2d4, by the way.

This is not always the same, for example, a Dwarven Urgosh deals 1d8/1d6 damage, noting that the primary head deals more damage than the secondary head. In case of using the weapon as a double weapon, your off-hand hence deals less damage (unless you reverse the thing and use the axe as your offhand weapon)

Spiked chain deals 2d4 damage, that is 2-8 + strenght modifier. I don't know where you got 1d8/1d8 from.

I know a poison that deals 1d8/1d8 Constitution damage, which means if you fail your first fortitude save vs poison you take 1d8 con damage, and 1 minute later 1d8 if you fail the second save.

Oh wait did you mean Dire Flail? That one deals 1d8/1d8 damage, which means that if you make a full attack with both ends of the weapon you get 2 seperate attacks that both deal 1d8 damage. 1d8/1d8 would mean what damage each end of the weapon do. Note that str bonus (if any) for the off-hand is halved.

Note also that in able to make attacks with both end, you need two-weapon fighting to fight effectively and still take a -2 on all attacks.

ddoes that mean that like... if i want to like, attack someone, then 1d8 would be the dmg.... but if one side broke... i could still have an extra blade?

Ehm not quite you could make 2 attacks in one round. I think if someone sunders your weapon it doesen't matter if you have 1 or two ends, the whole weapon is destroyed.

anytime when dealing with weapon damage X/Y setup means it is a two sided weapon. Which means if someone wants to use both ends they take the correct attack penalty and attack with both ends, each end doing whatever damage. Using a weapon this way considers the off hand weapon to be light. -2 is only if they have the two weapon fighting feat, if they don't they take a much higher penalty.

Sundering destroys the weapon, not just one side, but the whole thing.
