| FSCJedi05-18-04, 02:24 PM | Can anybody point me to a halfway decent 1st level adventure for a single player? I'm looking to introduce my fiance' to D&D, and would like to use a pre-made instead of making one up based around her character (since most adventures/campaigns are not centered around a single character). Links would be great. Thanks for any help. |

Adventures (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/oa/20030530b&page=1) Or you can swing by your local gaming outlet and grab one of the premade campaigns. They can cost ~$20, but they are generally pretty good and in depth |

| SilverFoxKnows05-18-04, 03:52 PM | for my wife. I started her out at 1st, because she's new to D&D but she's been playing World of Darkness for almost ten years so she has the hang of role playing. I'm running a homebrewed world that's been 15 years in the making but you could always pick up a module and just cut back the number of monsters and/or cut down on her foes' levels. Four Orcs becomes one Orc, a 4th level Cleric becomes a 1st level Cleric and so on. Let us know what you settle on. Frank |
| Rasmus05-18-04, 04:10 PM | Why not make a couple on your own for the first lvl. or so? It shouldn't be that hard, you could get inspired from the adventures on wizards website. I think you will have a hard time finding solo adventures for a 1st lvl adventurer. A goblin could very likely kill her. So adventures involving investigation and interaction might be the way to go in the beginning. A barbrawl with subd. dam. might be fun. |
| astute105-18-04, 06:34 PM | Make your own, I say. Use kobolds and put in a lot of roleplaying/puzzle encounters. Add an NPC to help out - maybe since your teaching her to play, use the "teacher" archetype NPC (thinking Uther and Arthas from WarcraftIII). Gotta make the adventure a fairly decent length, too, because one player can get a lot more done than 4. |
| Darkness_Incarnate05-18-04, 06:39 PM | Also an idea would be to use creatures that are very weak. For example simple rats and bats that can be easily defeated, but still a challange at the same time. Also I agree with using Roleplaying/ivestigation adventures for Experience. But if all else fails you can always add an NPC to tag along and help. Even if the NPC is just as strong or weaker than the PC just to help with the adventure. |

Is there any reason why she needs to start at level one? The easiest thing to do would be to take an adventure designed for four level one characters, and send her through it a level two or three. That's always worked fine when I play solo adventures with my girlfriend. |
