OK my daughter has been watching me play D&D for about a year now as well as played Baldors Gate with me. She is know interested in giving D&D a chance. She is almost (Aug) 10yr. old. She would like to create a character and go on an adventure. I will help her create the character that she wants. But!

What I need help on is coming up with a small 1st lvl adventure for her to go on alone. She is not willing to bring any of her friends into the game yet. I am not proud if you will let me steal ideas I will gladly do so…

Thanks

Check out the Dire Kobold people. Their free sample is workable and customizable to any level or number of PCs. direkobold.com

Apart from that, it depends on the character. Maybe she could deliver a message for her master/guildmaster/superior officer/bishop or whatever.

Or she could be hired to negotiate a truce between two villages at war over a terrible misunderstanding which she must uncover the root of. (That's a bit much.)

She meets a polymorphed prince/duke/princess/peasant and needs to help him escape the evil villains lair/forest/castle/city and return to the city/castle where powerful magic is available to undo this terrible curse.

Anyway, create the PC first and maybe even just let her explore a village of your creation.

It would help a bunch if I could understand which way your daughter is leaning...

Kill the monster, take the treasure?
Lots of magic, little violence.
What kind of game does she or you want?

:behold:

There is the quandry. I don't know yet either. She is really into the Japanimation type stuff with Elves and the such. I am thinking a bit Fairy Tail like. But I am not sure.

The character she is thinking about crating is an Elven Druid.

Sorry about not providing enough info before but I don't have much info myself.

There is always the chance that she is not really interested and is just trying to spend some more time with Dad...

Who knows!!

Have her and her animal companion go through the forest and slay all the nasty evil goblins!

Once she's gained a level or two, have her go fight a dragon, but give her animal companion a massive boost in power so that he ends up doing most of the damage it will take to kill it.

Or maybe have her get her being beaten by the dragon, when good old dad, the level 24 paladin, comes along on his white horse (or platinum dragon) and slays the foul beast for her!

Or have her "Prince" come and save her.

I have been in the same situation you are in except with a couple of younger sisters who wanted to play (at differen times, they are 5 years appart).

Really, because she doesnt know any better any boring dungeon crawl could be really fun for her. You dont even need to plan anything accept the adventure hook.

Some things to remember though:

- The CR's are geared toward a party of 4 adventurers. A challenge rating of 1/2 could hurt her character and two of them could kill her.
- Keep the CR's really low as because it is her first time playing she is likely not to stop and camp in the middle of a dungeon.
- Make her make a 1st lvl character, it really helps the fun to start from the bottom the first time.
- As with all low level characters, her hit points will most likely be between 4-12. Avoid using monsters that do a lot of damage in one hit. An example of this is the 3.0 orcs with great axes(d12+3) that could kill her in one lucky hit.
- Give her curative magic. Maybe the cleric who sent her on her mission gives her a cure light wounds potion. Or have some for her to find.
- Keep the number of baddies down in an encounter just fight one or two at a time. Unless its like a horde of tiny rats or vipers that only deal 1 or 2 damage anyway.
- Pay careful attention to the skills and feats that she takes, and make her quest off of those, so that she may reap the benefits of her skill choices. (For my first sister a ranger, I started the quest with her coming to town for an archery contest. Where she became friends with the halfling that beat her. My second sister was a rogue, I lead into a trap filled dungeon of kobolds, where she shockingly picked the pocket of the BBEK and stole his CLW potion to save her self.
- Be leanent in Ad Hoc rules, she is going to want to try many things not accounted for, dont penalize her for her creativity.
- Give her fun treasure, like a nearly empty bag of tricks, or a robe of useful/useless items.
- Make sure she levels up(at least the first two quests). This is almost as good as the treasure she recieves as it is her reward for surviving.
- Lastly, remeber to cheat. Keep track of her current hp at all times, but don't let her catch on or it could ruin her gaming experiance.

Hopefully this helped.

Good Luck!

Try and watch "Record of Lodoss War" or Princess Monoke"(?spelling?) they might give you some ideas for a first adventure. But Old Hero has the best idea... :embarrass
